JOYE, Robert
Robert Bunyon (Bob) Joye, 82, of 641 Hartness Road, Statesville, N.C., died Saturday, February 16, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
Mr. Joye was born October 8, 1919, in Williamsburg County and was the son of the late George Bunyon Joye and Eppie Hughes Joye.
He attended school in Florence County.
Mr. Joye was a retired longtime employee of International Paper Company in Georgetown and was a member of the initial crew which developed the International Paper Container Division in Statesville, moving to N.C. in 1962. He retired as a supervisor in the corrugator department.
After his retirement he fished.
He also sold peaches and other produce from a front yard stand as recently as summer, 2001, becoming affectionately known to many as "The Peach Man."
He is survived by his wife, Sara Lee Joye, of the home; a daughter, Nancy Joye Bowers (Jim) of Ocean Isle, N.C.; and sons, Donald Joye (Brenda), Statesville, N.C.; Charles Joye (Susie), and Robert Joye (Kathy) both of Pensacola, Fla.; George Joye, of the home; and Timothy Joye (Kristen) of Wilmington, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Cassie Joye and sister, Lucy Joye Dunaway and is survived by brothers, Tommie Joye (Margaret) of Florence, and Gerald Joye (Grace) of Johnsonville; sisters, Murrel Feagin of St. Stephens, Pearline Driggers (Durant) of Royston, Ga., and Bertha Callahan of Clinton.
Mr. Joye also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Amanda Joye and Steve Joye (Kathy), both of Pensacola, Fla.; Lela Joye Bowman, Wilmington, N.C.; Scott Joye (Paula), Lumberton, Miss.; Jason Joye, Gainesville, Fla.; Casey Ward, Ocean Isle, N.C.; Kelly Joye and Kristin Joye of Pensacola, Fla.; and Laura Joye of Statesville, N.C.
He is also survived by one great-grandson, Stephen Roddam of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandchildren, Charles Tracy Joye and Robert David Arthur (Bobby) Joye preceded him in death.
Two daughters-in-law, Jody Joye of Lucedale, Miss., and Brenda Hammond of Pensacola, Fla., also survive, and Mr. Joye leaves behind many friends and family in the Hughes, Dunahoe, Hanna, Powell, Gaster, and Taylor families of South Carolina, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Mr. Joye was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army's 36th Field Artillery out of Fort Bragg, N.C., seeing action in the campaign through North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat action.
The Joye family is being served by REAVIS FUNERAL HOME IN STATESVILLE and Morris Funeral Home in Hemingway. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, at Morris Funeral Home, beginning with visitation at noon, followed by a chapel ceremony directed by Rev. Ashton Feagin and Rev. Durant Driggers. Music will be rendered by Carol Feagin and a vocal by Pearline Driggers. Burial will take place in the Garden of Devotion in Johnsonville. Pallbearers will be Scott Joye, Jason Joye, John L. Gaster, Sr., John L. Gaster, Jr., Thomas Gaster, and Dan Taylor.
COLBY, James
Mr. James Arthur Colby, 60, of 122 Heaven's Path, Round O, S.C., died Wednesday, February 13, at Walterboro hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 22, at the chapel of BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME IN WALTERBORO, S.C. Burial will be private.
Mr. Colby was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, a son of the late Arthur Colby and Cora Huff Colby. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired engineer with the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was a life-time member of the Good Sam RV Club and was a member of the Square Club. He enjoyed camping.
Surviving are his wife, Olive M. "Ollie" Colby, a son, Arthur Colby of New Hampshire, two daughters, Sandra Pope of Missouri and Janice Gardner of Florida, a step-daughter, Cheryol Gentile of Connecticut, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
HUNT, Willie Mae
Willie Mae Hunt, of North Charleston, widow of Lee V. Hunt, died Sunday, February 17, 2002. Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., on February 20, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Born in Arthur, Tenn., June 4, 1907, a daughter of the late Marion Brown Money and Eliza J. Ely. She was a homemaker and a member of New Beginning Community Church where she was a servant of the Lord.
Mrs. Hunt was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, is survived by, daughter, Grace L. Owens, and husband, Herman, of North Charleston, a son, Jack R. Hunt, and wife, Arthureen 'Susie', of James Island, and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Hunt, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hunt was predeceased by a son Benny Hunt.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday evening, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME.

She is survived by her son, Frederick A. Dawson, III and a granddaughter, Carroll Lynn Dawson Waugh both of Goose Creek, S.C.

WALTERBORO - Mr. George Kenneth Stanfield, 57, of 211 Davis Circle, died Saturday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Craven's Rose Garden Cemetery.
Mr. Stanfield was born in Colleton County and was a son of the late Marion and Mary Elizabeth Hiott Stanfield. He was a painting contractor. He was a member of Bedon Baptist Church and attended Hendersonville Baptist Church.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Candy Stanfield and Jessica Stanfield both of Walterboro; 1 son, Kenneth W. Stanfield of Walterboro; 1 sister, Bobbie S. Crosby of Round O; 4 brothers, Lewis M. Stanfield of Slidell, La., Donald Stanfield, Sr. of Columbia, Marvin Stanfield of Walterboro, Wayne Stanfield of Summerville; and 3 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Janet Huff.

GEORGETOWN - Joseph Ross "Tony" Allen, 86, died Sunday, February 17, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Allen was born in Ruby on December 23, 1915, a son of the late Joseph Herman Allen and Sallie Teresa Smith Allen. He grew up in Ruby and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Allen lived in Kannapolis, N.C. prior to moving to Georgetown in 1957. He was a retired employee of the Container Division of International Paper Company. Mr. Allen was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fellowship Class of the church.
Surviving are his wife, Astrid Mattson Allen of Georgetown; two daughters, Teresa Allen Harter and her husband Mark of Georgetown and Deanna Allen Saylor and her husband Bill of Wilmington, N.C.; a stepson, Richard H. Shelton and his wife Sharon of Greenville; a brother, Jerome Brooks Allen of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Juanita Allen Mitchum of Georgetown and Dottie Allen Menius of Surfside Beach; four grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Allen was predeceased by a brother, Leslie Murray Allen; and a sister, Sara Dell Allen.
Funeral services will be 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, February 19, 2002, in First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrell and the Rev. Hiram McElrath. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens under the direction of the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME.

Mr. Elias was born in Milford, Conn. a son of the late John Elias and Doris Bristol Elias. He was an Army veteran and was retired from Raybestos-Dana Corporation. He enjoyed gardening and playing golf. He was a member of Santee Cooper Country Club.

Mr. Stephenson was born in Moira, New York, on June 23, 1912, the son of Philip H. and Nona Cook Stephenson. A retired tax attorney with Uniroyal Rubber Co., he was a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and later earned his law degree from Fordham University. An Army veteran of World War II, he was the husband of the late Mae Fern Bergschicker Stephenson who preceded him in death in December, 1987.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothea Santen of Albany, N.Y., and a nephew, Jay Kasin of Bellevue, Wash., his step-daughter, Freida Crowe of Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as seven nieces and nephews.

James L. Dicker, Sr., 66, died February 18, 2002, died Monday evening at his residence in Cameron, S.C. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, at Faith Baptist Church, Hwy. 21, St. Matthews, S.C., with Rev. Ernest Medlin officiating. Burial in Faith Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 21, St. Matthews, S.C. DUKES-HARLEY FUNERAL HOME officiating.
Mr. Dicker was born in Ladson, S.C., a son of the late Robert L. Dicker and Pearl Dutton Dicker. He was a former dispatcher for Hicklin Motor Lines and was retired from B and L Trucking in Charleston. Mr. Dicker was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Matthews. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include, daughters, Sandra Thompson and Sharon Centek, St. Matthews, sons, James Leroy Dicker, Jr., Orangeburg, Roger Dicker, St. Matthews, three sisters, Marie D. Watts, The Colony, Texas, Beverly D. Jones, Oceanside, Calif., Louise D. Shaw, North Charleston, three brothers, Jack L. Dicker and Samuel Dicker, both of Summerville, Charles Dicker, N. Charleston, four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and one great-grandson. A number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Family will receive friends, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. At other times friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dicker 437 Murph Mill Road, St. Matthews, S.C., or at the funeral home.
