Jerome was born in Northampton, MA, a son of Joseph N. and Madelyn Myers. He was a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church where he was a youth leader, and member of the high school youth group. He attended Wando High School and was a member of Wando High ROTC. He loved dogs and his interest included Greyhound rescue and dog grooming as well as computer technology and electronics.
Surviving are his parents of Mt. Pleasant, two brothers, Joseph N. Myers, Jr. and T. J. Myers, two sisters, Melissa A. and Katie R. Myers, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Maternal grandparents, Thomas A. and Verna Maniscalco of Fairfield, Ct. and Paternal grandmother, Betsy Myers of New Haven, Ct., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dolores N. Smalley died February 18, 2002, at a local hospital. She was born in Charleston, S.C., on April 18, 1929, the daughter of Reese W. Mitchum and Maggie Mae Litchfield Mitchum. She was a graduate of Charleston County Schools, a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church, a sales manager at the Naval Exchange and an avid arts and crafts enthusiast. Mrs. Smalley is survived by her husband of 55 years, Earl Simmons Smalley, Sr., three sons, Earl S. Smalley, Jr., Ernest Smalley and David Smalley and beloved grandson, Earl S. Smalley, III; one brother, William R. Mitchum and three sisters, Gertrude Griffin Morillo, Betty Ann Eckert and Lillie M. Mrs. Edna Rowell Usher of Charleston, wife of Rev. A.T. Usher, died on February 17, 2002, at White Oak Manor, Charleston after an extended illness. Mrs. Usher was born on April 10, 1910, in Lancaster County, S.C., the daughter of John T. and Harriet Plyler Rowell.
She was a 1932 graduate of Queens College, Charlotte, N.C. and did graduate work at Winthrop University. She taught in Buford High School for several years and served as County Librarian of Union County, South Carolina. She was an Approved Worker with children in Christian education. For her years of activity in garden clubs, she was awarded a Life Membership in the Garden Club of South Carolina. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Charleston, S.C. As a pastor's wife and teacher, she was beloved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. A.T. Usher; two sons, Paul D. Usher of Charleston, S.C. and John B. Usher of Springfield, Va.; four grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Robert Robinson of Lancaster; a niece, Marie Robinson, Greenville, S.C.; and a nephew Rev. Dr. R.J. Robinson, Rock Hill, S.C. She was predeceased by a sister, Georgia W. Rowell.
A graveside service will be held at the Hopewell Methodist Church, Lancaster, S.C., at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2002. Delmas Wayne Melton, 55, of Moncks Corner, a retired U.S. Navy Machinist Mate, died Wednesday at his residence.

Mr. Melton was born June 29, 1946, at Palestine, Ark., a son of Lige Melton and Velva Calvin Melton. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Moncks Corner and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Roberts Melton of Moncks Corner; mother of Forest City, Ark. two sons, Patrick W. Melton of Summerville, Robert E. Mr. Ronald Lee Elbon, age 58, of Cashiers, N.C., died Monday, February 18, 2002. Mr. Elbon was a Captain in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969. He joined the Xerox Corporation in Phoenix. From 1971 to 1979, Mr. Elbon was vice president of Romanel Golub & Company in Chicago. From 1979 to 1981 he founded and was president of Ackerman/Elbon/Rydin Partnership, Chicago. From 1981 to 1983, Mr. Elbon was president of National Brokerage, Ackerman & Company in Atlanta. From 1983 to 1986 he founded and was chairman of the Great South Realty Company of Atlanta. From 1986 to 1992, Mr. Elbon was founder and chairman of Capital City Development Corporation, Atlanta, which developed Capital City Plaza. From 1992 to 1997, he was founder and president of Tiger Realty Advisors, Inc., Atlanta. From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Elbon was director of commercial brokerage, The Beach Company, in Charleston, S.C. During Mr. Elbon's business career he served on numerous boards and charitable organizations. Married in 1999, Mr. Elbon is survived by his wife, Robin Visceglia; mother and father, Marvine and Ernest Elbon, Colorado; cousin, Ann Oliphant, Colorado. CONWAY - Barbara Stalvey Rogers, age 80, of 6th Ave., died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at home after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Conway, September 5, 1921, to the late Dr. John Kelly and Bessie Rollinson Stalvey. She was married to James S. Rogers, Jr., September 25, 1942, and their children include a son, James S. Rogers, III, of Guilford, Conn., and two daughters and sons-in-law, Tommy and Bobby Fresh of Tifton, Ga., and Bobby and Mary Ellen Scarborough of Conway, grandchildren are Eddie Fresh and his wife Michelle and Kelly Fresh all of Tifton, Ga.; and Amelia Rogers and Phillip Rogers of Guilford, Conn. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Hope Stalvey Godefroy of Conway, nine nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends whom she claimed as family. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Bessie Stalvey Henry of Conway, and two brothers, Dr. John K. Stalvey, Jr., of Savannah, Ga., and Gene Stalvey of Conway.
A graduate of Winthrop College and lifelong teacher, she began the first structured kindergarten in Conway in 1948 which continued until 1954 when she began teaching for the Horry County School District. She was elected teacher of the year in 1980 and 1981 and retired from teaching life science in 1984.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of First United Methodist Church where she served as past president and active member of the United Methodist Women and devoted 48 years (1948-1996) to the Children's Sunday School Department. The Barbara Rogers Circle was named in her honor in 1999.
She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Peter Horry Chapter Daughters of American Revolution and the Easy Stitchers.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Friday, at the First United Methodist Church in Conway with the Rev. John Hipp, Rev. Tom Brittian and Rev. Steve Shugart officiating. Inurnment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, directed by GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, CONWAY CHAPEL.
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

SUMTER, S.C. - Mary Alsbrook Smith, wife of Lonnie Mondell Smith, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late McKeever Desausure Alsbrook and the late Elizabeth Marie Stukes Alsbrook.
Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston and was a retired Mail Clerk Supervisor with the Army Corps of Engineers with 15 years of service.
Surviving are her husband of Sumter; two sisters, Marie Alsbrook of Columbia and Lila A. Bellinger of Sumter; and a brother, James Milton Alsbrook of Sumter.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dr. James Chandler officiating.

GORDON, James
James F. Gordon, 66, died on the morning of Tuesday, February 19, 2002. His funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 o'clock, Friday afternoon, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call this evening (Thursday) from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Gordon was born in Hardin County, Ohio, on October 15, 1935, a son of the late Clayton L. and Elizabeth Claybaugh Gordon Shope. After attending school in Kenton, Ohio, Jim served as a Navy radioman during the Korean Conflict. He later worked at Shop 56 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Davis Gordon, his sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy (Michelle) Gordon of Summerville, James R. (Jeanette) Gordon of Lakeview, Ohio, Michael C. (Linda) Gordon of Kenton, Ohio, and Brian L. Gordon of Lakeview, Ohio; and his daughter, Deanna Taylor of Kenton, Ohio.
He is also survived by his step-son, Paul (Virginia) Davis of Summerville and step-daughter, Jody Davis of North Charleston. Seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren as well as his five brothers, Mike, Bill, Mark, Chuck and Jeff Shope, and his sisters, Nancy Shope, Lorilla Risner, and Sally Rodenberger, all of Kenton, Ohio, also survive.
