Miss Drake attended Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, Mass., and the University of S.C. in Columbia. She graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Literature.Miss Drake was a longtime resident of Pawley's Island and had resided in Tampa for two and a half years. She was a writer and member of the Junior League of America. Miss Drake was a life long Episcopalian. Irene Ida Johnston, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. went home to be with her lord and savior Thursday morning, February 21, 2002 at her residence at 3125 Linksland Road, Charleston National. She was one of seven children of Octavio and Lydia Lima of Recife, Brazil. Her siblings preceding her homegoing were Roberto, Frednado, and Lygia Lima, all from Brazil. She is survived by her sisters, Carmen Pool of Columbia, S.C., Evelyn Burkhart of Houston, Texas, and Aspasia Campos of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Irene was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as her lord and savior at an early age. She studied dentistry at Escola de Dentista de Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil. She came to the United States in 1945 as the navy bride of her beloved husband, Leslie H. Johnston. They celebrated 56 years of marriage in June. They raised two daughters, Claudia Clark and (Cindy) Sue Lambert, both of Mt. Pleasant, in a godly Christian home. As a loving wife and mother, she devoted her life to her family.A Celebration of life will be Sunday, February 24, 2002 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 3:00 o'clock. He was a retired Long Beach school bus driver. He was a Protestant.Survivors include son, George R. Swanton, brother, William L.
