GEORGETOWN - Nellie Jane Watts, 86, died Friday, February 22, 2002, in a Georgetown hospital.Miss Watts was born in the Sampit Community of Georgetown County on August 24, 1915, a daughter of the late James Pringle Watts and Eliza Rebecca Roberts Watts. She grew up in the Sampit Community and lived most of her life there. Miss Watts was a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired after 29 years employment with Georgetown Memorial Hospital.Miss Watts was a member of Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Women Ministries of the church. She was also a former missionary in South Africa and Costa Rica.Surviving are, a brother, Robert O. Watts, Sr., of Georgetown; a sister, Louise W. Keller of Georgetown; and a number of nephews and nieces.Miss Watts was predeceased by, four brothers, Thomas H. Watts, Marion L. Watts, James P. Watts, and Rev. Jack D. Watts; and a sister, Eva W. Mr. Johnson was a member of Ashley Rivers Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson is a 1963 graduate of College of Charleston with a B.S. He received his Master of Theology at the New Orleans Baptist Seminary in 1969. He attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his Master of Social Work in 1972 at the University of Tennessee where he was also a Clinical Chaplain. He served in the Coast Guard. He was the Director of Outpatient Clinic for the Veterans Administration Hospital, Beaumont, Texas, for 27 years. He worked at Sam Rittenburg Mental Health Clinic, Charleston, S.C.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C., two daughters, Dr. Christine Louise Hunter of N. Charleston, S.C., and Denise Lena Johnson Cupick of Myrtle Beach, S.C., one grandson, Lee Andrew Cupick of Myrtle Beach, S.C., one brother, Robert E. Johnson, Charleston, S.C., niece, Beth Dennis of Charleston, S.C., and several other nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son, Russell Sherrard of Sacramento, Calif., and her daughter, Brenda Sherrard of Nashville, Tenn. She leaves five grandchildren, Jennifer Sherrard of Covina, Calif., Jessica Perdue of Citrus Heights, Calif., Sara Duggan of Sacramento, Calif., Michael Mann of Nashville, Tenn., and Steven Mann of Texas. Four great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Edwin (Lucille) Liner of Shreveport, La., also mourns her loss.

Mr. Gannaway attended Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tenn. He attended Georgia Tech on a baseball scholarship, he was a retired engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation with 34 years of service, most recently he was consultant for R.K. Shah and Associates and was an avid fisherman.

She was a graduate of McLeod Nursing School in Florence, S.C. and Lander College. She retired as a registered nurse from McLeod Hospital in Florence. Mrs. Unsell was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Bradley Bible Class and Allen Vickery Circle of Cherokee United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sisters, Johanna Marie Hoffmeyer and Elizabeth H. Edwards of North Charleston, S.C. and Margaret H. Sullivan of Charleston, S.C. and several nieces and nephews.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Colonel Harold Widenhouse Hobbs, USAF retired, 83 of 46th Ave. South, died Saturday February 23, 2002 at Myrtle Beach Manor.
Colonel Hobbs was born November 21, 1918 a son of the late Robert Hopkins and Ethel Widenhouse Hobbs.
Colonel Hobbs retired from the United States Air Force after thirty-four years of service. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Civil Actions Medal. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed city engaging in city political affairs. Colonel Hobbs was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and moved to the area from Fort Worth, Texas in 1972.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Nell McLoud Hobbs and a son Robert Craig Hobbs both of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and a sister, Pat Freeze and her husband Hugh of Lexington, S.C.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2002 at MCMILLAN-SMALL FUNERAL HOME with Dr. Paul Wood officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, S.C. with full military honors.

Born in Tampa, Florida, she was the daughter of Linda Carole Nunnery Paul and the late Roy Bailey Owings, Jr. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Formerly of Great Falls, she had been a local resident for 39 years. Dr. West was formerly employed with New Hope Midlands. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, American Psychological Association and received her doctorate from the University of South Carolina.
Surviving are her mother and step-father, James Moses Paul, Jr.; brother, Roy Bailey Owings, III of North Charleston; one aunt, two uncles and several cousins. The family will be at 100 Melody Lane, Cayce, S.C.
