Norman Charlie Proveaux, 89, of Summerville, widower of Maggie Louise Proveaux died Tuesday.

Mr. Proveaux was born on May 17, 1912 in Colleton County, South Carolina, a son of the late Quillie R. Proveaux and Hattie Drawdy Proveaux. He attended schools in Colleton County. He was a retired mechanic with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are his daughters, V. Reba Yawn and Gloria Kirkland both of Summerville; sisters, Mena Edwards of Kingsbay, Ga. and Ione Crossens of Milwaukee, Wisc.; brother, Willis Proveaux of Milwaukee, Wisc.; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Vincent "Blinkie" Proveaux and Hasten Proveaux.

COTTAGEVILLE - Willie Edna Thorpe, 95, died Sunday, February 17, 2002, in New York.
The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (today), February 27, 2002, in Jericho United Methodist Church in Cottageville. Burial will follow in Jericho-Mitchell Cemetery.
Mrs. Thorpe was born in Cottageville and was the daughter of the late Robert and Amelia Roberts. She graduated from Mather Industrial School in Beaufort and South Carolina State College in Orangeburg. She taught at Jericho Public School in Cottageville.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Harrigan and Gloria Scott of New York.

PAPPAS, Jimmy
Jimmy Lee Pappas, 69, of Charleston, S.C. was born in Asheville, N.C. He was the son of Lenny Davis and Arthur Demitrius Pappas. He died on February 24, 2002 from complications from surgery. Mr. Pappas showed strength and courage that touched the hearts of all who knew him. There will be a void where he once was. We know not why he is gone, but we do know he is at peace with the Heavenly Father. Mr. Pappas attended Sand Hill High School in Asheville, N.C., where he won a football scholarship to attend Western Carolina University, where he graduated in 1955. Mr. Pappas had an outstanding career as a Marine Corps fighter pilot, served four tours of duty in The Republic of Vietnam and retired from the Marine Corps in 1973. After a successful business career in Beaufort, S.C. he moved to Charleston in 1985, and was involved in the commercial real estate business from then until his death. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Helen Lee Pappas, grandson Nicholas A.J. Davis and his best friend Vista Anne Grayson. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 27th at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 67 Anson Street, Charleston. Military honors will follow. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Asheville, N.C. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Harvey Cromer, 62, of Ladson, S.C. died Monday, February 25, 2002 at a local hospital.

He was a member and past deacon of the First Baptist Church in Holly Hill, board member of the Low Country Emmaus, board member of Hebron-Grace Colony at Santee, member of the Wednesday Morning Prayer Group, member of the Kairos Prison Ministry, member of Vance Masonic Lodge #230, Omar Shrine, and Past Municipal Judge in Eutawville.

Mrs. Floyd was born September 8, 1929, in Tillman, S.C., the daughter of the late Henry T. Smith and the late Lois Jaudon. She was a part-time postal worker with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of Tillman United Methodist Church, Tillman, S.C. She lived in Tillman all of her life as a Methodist.

WALTERBORO - Frank Jerry Foit, 81, a retired machine mechanic, died Monday, at St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. Foit was born August 25, 1920, in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He was a member of the National Rifle Assoc., American Federation of Police, Law Enforcement Alliance of America, Air Force Association, and the American Legion. He was a major in the Army Air Force, serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Cooler was born January 16, 1914, in Ridgeland, a son of the late Paul A. Cooler and Sarah Sawyer Cooler. He was a member of First Baptist Church, former Deacon and director of Sunday school for many years, and served on the Pulpit Search Committee. He was active in the Gideons for many years. Mr. Cooler was a former director of Farmers & Merchants Bank and served on the board of advisors of Citizens and Southern Bank. He served on the board of trustees of Coker College and Board of Trustees of the Baptist Home of the Aging in Darlington. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the South Carolina Forestry Comm. He was a graduate of Clemson College and received his masters from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was twice married, first to the late Ruth Hiott Cooler.
Surviving are, his wife, Lucy Johnson Cooler, two sons, Dr. H. Paul Cooler of Summerville, and Dr. Richard Cooler of Sycamore, Ill., two daughters, Dr. Elsa C. The relatives and friends of Mr. Paul W. Dangerfield of Royal Road, Summerville, S.C., are invited to attend his funeral services, 11 a.m., this Thursday morning, in the chapel of DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston.
