Mrs. Geneva Beckham Craig, 84
MONCKS CORNER - Graveside services for Mrs. Geneva Beckham Craig of 107 Robbins St. were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 in Greenlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Howell officiating.
Mrs. Craig, 84, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at her residence.
Born in Williamsburg County on Feb. 20, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Hilliard Beckham and Mary Gertrude Wilson Beckham. A member of Great Falls Second Baptist Church, Mrs. Craig was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens Company.
Survivors include a son, Rayford Craig of Moncks Corner; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Winona Johnson of Lancaster.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wade Craig.

Mrs. Mittie Angelia 'Ann' Taylor, 66
CHESTER - A memorial service for Mrs. Mittie Angelia "Ann" Taylor of 100 Culp St., Apartment E5, Chester, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Orr's Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 2 p.m. at the church on the day of the service.
Mrs. Taylor, 66, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Born in Chester County on Oct. 2, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Noah Kirkland and the late Sarah Eula Langford. Mrs. Taylor was a retired seamstress.
Survivors include a brother, James M. Kirkland of Chester; a nephew, Dan Kirkland of Chester; a niece, Wanda Patrick of Chester; and a dear friend and sister in Christ, Shirley Walker, of Chester.

Dr. Douglas B. Hughes Sr., 86
ROCK HILL - The funeral for Dr. Douglas B. Hughes Sr. was conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12 at First Baptist Church of Rock Hill. The Rev. Steve Hogg and Dr. Larry Sizemore officiated and burial followed in Laurelwood Cemetery.
Dr. Hughes, 86, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Born in Fountain Inn, S.C. on Feb. 28, 1918, he was a son of the late John and Mae Hughes. He graduated high school in Fountain Inn and entered Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Upon his graduation in 1939, Dr. Hughes began his chiropractic practice in Rock Hill and in 1942 was drafted into the Army during World War II. During his time in the Army, Dr. Hughes served on one of the largest hospital ships, where he worked in the X-ray department.
Upon release from the Army, he returned to Rock Hill to continue his chiropractic practice. Dr. Hughes earned the reputation of treating more generations of chiropractic patients in the York County area than any other chiropractor in the history of chiropractic, as he practiced in Rock Hill for over 65 years. Dr. Hughes's son, who has been a chiropractor since 1997, sees patients in Chester and his grandson is set to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in February 2005 with plans to practice in Rock Hill.
Dr. Hughes was an avid breeder of beagles and raised many field champions. He loved vegetable gardening as well as growing flowers and doing yard work. Active in the real estate business, Dr. Hughes often donated dogs to the Rock Hill Boys Home and taught many young boys how to hunt. A member of First Baptist Church, where he served as head of the ushers for many years, Dr. Hughes was also a former member of the Lions, Elks, VFW and American Legion. He was an active member of the International Chiropractic Association.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Iris Burnette Hughes; a son, Dr. Douglas B. Hughes Jr. and his wife, Wesley, of Rock Hill; three daughters, Jean Hughes of Avondale Estates, Ga., Carol Pearce and her husband, the late Jim Pearce, of Etowah, N.C. and Sandra Harmon and her husband, David, of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

Miss Emma Jean Giles, 41
SHARON - The funeral for Miss Emma Jean Giles of Hampton St., Rock Hill, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon. The Rev. Raymond Davis will officiate, the Rev. Arthur Frazier will deliver the eulogy and the Rev. E.M. Browning and the Rev. F.R. Giles will assist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Miss Giles, 41, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004.
Born in York County on Sept. 27, 1962, she was a daughter of Glenn Giles Jr. and the late Emma Ree Good Giles. A member of Crossroad Baptist Church, Miss Giles graduated from Chester High School in 1980 and attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry and short stories and loved children.
Survivors include her father, Glenn Giles Jr. of Sharon; four brothers, Clyde Good and his wife, Rachel, of Hickory Grove, Muhammad Fard of New York and Benjamin Giles and his wife, Cynthia, and Harry Giles and his wife, Melissa, all of Sharon; and three sisters, Janice Tolbert and her husband, Michael, of Rock Hill and Glennetta Avery and her husband, Michael, and Eudoria Giles of Charlotte.
She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Giles.

Mr. Walton, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at her residence.
Born in Passaic County, N.J. on Oct. 4, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Sisco and Anna Sisco. A homemaker, Mrs. Walton attended school in Butler, N.J.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Walton of Chester and Bill Walton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dora Sisco of Chester.
She was predeceased by her husband, William M. Walton.

Mr. James 'Big Dude' Mobley, 62
RICHBURG - The funeral for Mr. James Robert "Big Dude" Mobley of 3654 Stevenson Road will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at St. Phillips Baptist Church. The Rev. John J. Mr. Mobley, 62, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Rock Hill Health Care.
Born in Chester County on Nov. 30, 1941, he was a son of the late Richard Mobley and Beulah Anderson Mobley. A member of St. Phillips Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and past Sunday school teacher, Mr. Mobley was a former employee of South Carolina Hundros Construction of Charlotte. He attended school in Chester County.
Survivors include his caregiver, Eliza Ann Colvin of the home; two aunts, Lula Bell Mobley of Chester and Margaret Mobley of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, the Rev. Annie Lois Mobley of Charlotte; three nieces; and four nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, the Rev. Richard Mobley and Johnny Mobley.
The family will receive friends at the home, 3654 Stevenson Road.

Survivors include a son, Arthur Jackson of Chester; three daughters, Loretta Jackson, Barbara Jackson and Clevon Jackson, all of Chester; her mother, Elizabeth G. Jackson of Chester; a brother, Nathaniel Jackson of Chester; a sister, Annie Ruth Jackson of Chester; a godson; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Johnny Jackson Jr. and Lindsay Wade; and two sisters, Eliza J. Caldwell and Lizzie Ruth Kennedy.

Born in Chester County on April 27, 1952, he was a son of Geneva Crosby Sanders Kirkpatrick and the late James A. Sanders. A member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, Mr. Sanders attended the public schools of Chester County and was employed as an industrial heating and air conditioning technician.
Survivors include his mother, Geneva Crosby Kirkpatrick of Chester; a son, Calvin L. "Chez" Sanders of Chester; three daughters, Kianna Sanders of Chester, Ciji Foote of Columbus, Ohio and Helen Yourse of Greensboro, N.C.; five brothers, Hase Sanders, James Sanders and Stanley Sanders, all of Chester, Lt. Alex Sanders of Fort Sam, Houston, Texas, and CPT. Eddie Byrd of Fort Carson, Colo.; 10 sisters, Rosa Johnson of Baltimore, Esther Hughes of Greensboro, N.C. and Annie Sanders, Artelia Pendergrass, Margaret Ayers, Vickie Radford, Gail McCree, Mary Moore, Rebecca McCree and Eloise Minter, all of Chester; and a stepsister, Annie Ruth Kirkpatrick of Chester.

Born in Mecklenburg County on April 25, 1947, he was a son of the late Simon Jackson Sr. and Annie Mae Boyd Jackson. A member of Black Rock Baptist Church, Mr. Jackson attended The Holy Place Church in Chester. He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County and also Finley High School. Mr. Jackson was also a former employee of Springs Industries.
Survivors include two sons, Bavuier Jackson and his wife, Carmen, of Pacolet and Rodney Jackson and his wife, Arlene, of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Simone Yvette Eison of Jonesville; two brothers, Johnny B. Jackson and his wife, Gloria, and Terry Jackson, both of Chester; a sister, Cora Douglas and her husband, Melvin, of Chester; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Dawkins, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Ebenezer Senior Services.
Born in Lancaster County on Nov. 8, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Small and Mamie Kinsey Small. A member of Second Baptist Church, Mrs. Dawkins attended school in Lancaster and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Dawkins of Fort Mill and Kenneth "Skeet" Dawkins of Rock Hill; a brother, Wallace Small of Chester; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Johnnie G. Dawkins; and a son, Calvin Dawkins.
