Mr. James 'Jim' Pressley Jr., 70
CHESTER - Graveside services for Mr. James Brenton "Jim" Pressley Jr. of 123 West End St. will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 1 in Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Wheeler and the Rev. Chip Sneed officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be law enforcement officers of Chester County and the City of Chester.
Mr. Pressley, 70, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Chester County Hospital.
Born in Chester County on Jan. 26, 1934, he was a son of the late James Brenton Pressley Sr. and Hettie Mae Brown Pressley. A member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mr. Pressley graduated from Chester High School and attended Clemson University on a football scholarship. A major with the Chester County Sheriff's Department, he was a member of IPTAY and formerly served as a U.S. Marshall. Mr. Pressley also formerly served as the sheriff of Chester County and was a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Rowland Pressley; three daughters, Wendy Pressley, Candy S. Grant and Debra A. Slack, all of Chester; a son, Randy Myers of Chester; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Tom B. Pressley and John N. Pressley, both of Chester.
He was predeceased by a sister, Joan McKay.
The family will receive friends tonight, Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester.

Mr. Robert Edgar Townsend Sr., 50
CHESTER - Graveside services for Mr. Robert Edgar Townsend Sr. of 1035 Sid Davis Road will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 in Chester Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Frank Wilder officiating.
Mr. Townsend, 50, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at his home.
A native of Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late George and Betty Davis Townsend. He was employed as an engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene P. Townsend; three sons, Robert "Bob" Townsend Jr. and Brian Townsend, both of Lancaster, and Jamie Billings of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Rachel Woolsey of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Emma Ree Good Giles, 77
SHARON - The funeral for Mrs. Emma Ree Good Giles of 4869 Cabal Road will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon. The Rev. Raymond Davis will officiate, the Rev. Arthur Frazier will deliver the eulogy and the Rev. E.M. Browning and the Rev. F.R. Giles will assist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Giles, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004.
Born in York County on March 13, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Holsey Bishop Good and Emma B. Nichols Good. A member of Crossroad Baptist Church, where she sang with the hymn choir and served on the missionary society and the usher board, Mrs. Giles was an avid gardener. She also served seniors in her community.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn Giles Jr. of Sharon; four sons, Clyde Good and his wife, Rachel, of Hickory Grove, Muhammad Fard of New York and Benjamin Giles and his wife, Cynthia, and Harry Giles and his wife, Melissa, all of Sharon; three daughters, Janice Tolbert and her husband, Michael, of Rock Hill and Glennetta Avery and her husband, Michael, and Eudoria Giles of Charlotte; three brothers, William E. Good and Robert Good of York and Thomas J. Good of Sharon; two sisters, Oletha Feemster of Hickory Grove and Purla Gwinn of Sharon; and 15 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Giles; three sisters; a brother; and a daughter, Emma Jean Giles.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 4869 Cabal Road, Sharon.

Mr. John Sidney Williams Jr., 46
CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. John Sidney Williams Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Chester, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at Black Rock Baptist Church. The Rev. James Wilson will officiate and the Rev. Marvin Hughes will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Williams, 46, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in New Mexico.
Born in Chester County on Sept. 10, 1958, he was a son of the late John Sidney Williams Sr. and Janie Bell Sanders Williams. A member of Black Rock Baptist Church, Mr. Williams graduated from Chester High School in 1976 and was employed with Quality Inn Suite in New Mexico. A high school football player, Mr. Williams was also a former truck driver, campus police officer and musician. He was an avid bass guitar player and was a U.S. Airforce veteran.
Survivors include his children, Rafael Rodriquez Hall and his wife, Audrey, of York, Jabbar Dawaine Hall of Rock Hill, Vagas Ray Mooring of Tempe, Ariz., and Lamar Darshay Williams, Bryonne Ashley Williams and Darnell Robert Williams, all of Socorro, N.M; two brothers, David B. Sanders and his wife, Jacqueline, of Charlotte and Michael Anthony Williams and his wife, Carolyn, of Chester; three sisters, Pamela S. Pettice and her husband, Hazel, of Charlotte and Stephanie W. Hall and her husband, Thomas, and Mary Phyllis Williams, all of Chester; a stepsister, Wanda Mitchell and her husband, Charles of Newark, N.J.; his stepmother, Geraldean Williams; his companion, Jo Mooring Williams; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Nizheni Lee Williams; and his grandparents, William and Mamie Sanders and Sidney and Parthenia Williams.
The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister, Mary P. Williams, at 636 Pineridge Road, Chester.

Infant Vaughn, 1, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Chester Regional Medical Center.
Born in Rock Hill on Sept. 26, 2003, he was a son of Michael Wayne Vaughn and Sherry Bynum Vaughn.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Sherry Vaughn; a sister, Monica Vaughn of the home; his paternal grandparents, Edward and Doris Wilson of Chester; and his maternal grandparents, Winfred and Elaine Bynum of Blackstock.

GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mrs. Ruth Belton Horton of 1 Cemetery St. was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls. The Rev. Mrs. Horton, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Charlotte Health Care in Charlotte.
Born in Longtown, S.C. on Aug. 21, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Deacon Chevis Belton and Mary Lee Belton. A member of First Mount Zion Baptist Church, Mrs. Horton moved to Charlotte at an early age and later relocated to Great Falls.
Survivors include four sons, Robert L. Belton and his wife, Virginia, of Charlotte, Ronnie Horton and his wife, Marie, of Patterson, N.J., Willie Lewis Horton and his wife, Mary, of Enfield, N.C. and Deacon James E. Horton and his wife, Jacqueline, of Great Falls; a daughter, Jessie Marion Davidson of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren;15 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Chevis Belton Jr. and his wife, Willis, of Columbia and Ernest Belton and his wife, Martha, of Patterson, N.J.; and three sisters, Naomi Ferguson of Patterson, N.J., Dorothy Thompson of Hopkins, S.C. and Cleo B. Hayes and her husband, John Henry, of Great Falls.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Horton Jr.; and two brothers, Deacon James Belton and Curtis Belton.

Miss Patti Elizabeth Lanier, 52
STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Memorial services for Miss Patti Elizabeth Lanier of 1002 4th Creek Landing Drive, formerly of Great Falls, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Great Falls. The Rev. Kathy Bostrom will officiate and burial will be private.
Miss Lanier, 52, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in Statesville.
Born in Gastonia, N.C. on March 6, 1952, she was a daughter of Robert S. Lanier and Edith Funderburk Lanier. A graduate of Great Falls High School, Miss Lanier attended USC Lancaster and graduated from Appalachian State College. A Baptist, she was employed as a school teacher at Third Creek Elementary School in Statesville.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Edith Lanier of Great Falls; and a sister, Susan L. Jones of Chesapeake, Va.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Dennis Lanier.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the social hall of the church and at other times at the home of her parents, 3190 Havenwood Drive, Blackstock.

Mr. McCullough, 54, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Born in Chester County, he was a son of the late John P. McCullough and Mary Lee McCullough. A member of Red Oak A.M.E. Zion Church, Mr. McCullough was employed as a painter with Southeastern Construction Company of Lancaster until he became disabled. A 1968 graduate of Finley High School, Mr. McCullough also graduated from Friendship Junior College and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Felisha Rochelle McCullough of Rock Hill; a brother, Joe L. McCullough and his wife, Sadie R.; three sisters, Lena Boyd of Buffalo, N.Y., Clara Gilmore of Rock Hill and Alberta M. McCullough and her husband, Ronald, of Edgemoor; and a devoted friend and caregiver, Thomasine Gilliam.
He was predeceased by a brother, James R. McCullough; and a sister, Elizabeth M. Patton.

UNION, S.C. - The funeral for Mrs. Dolly Elizabeth Bass Watts of 179 Jeter Cemetery Road was conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at Salem Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Leslie and the Rev. Alvin Biggerstaff, minister to the deaf, officiated and burial followed in Chester Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Watts, 66, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Wallace-Thomson Hospital in Union.
Born in Chester on Feb. 7, 1938, she was a daughter of the late John Joe Bass and Carrie Lou Feaster Bass. A member of Salem Baptist Church, Mrs. Watts attended Chester High School and was retired from Springs Industries.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Watts Flynn of Rock Hill and Dolly Ann Watts of Lancaster, Calif.; a son, Ernest Lee Watts Jr. of Columbia; two brothers, Joseph T. Bass of Chesnee, S.C. and Wylie A. Bass of Carlisle; and two sisters, Fran Bass Wilson and Sarah Bass Sistrunk, both of Carlisle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Lee Watts Sr.

Born in Chester on Jan. 8, 1941, she was a daughter of the late James Garvin Hampton and Nora Elizabeth Hampton. A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Chester, Mrs. Williams was retired from the Katherine Plant.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Williams; three daughters, Jewel Kay Haeussler of Manchester, Mich., Diane Turner of Lockhart and Amanda Allison of Union; and four sisters, Iris H. Bostic of Greenville, Miss., Hazel H. Wilkes and Melba H. Thomas, both of Chester, and Norma Jean Morrison of Richburg.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Don Hampton and Gordon Hampton; and a grandson, Robbie Gearhart.
