RAHN, Jr., Earl
ISLANDTON - Earl R. "Tootie" Rahn, Jr., 61, a retired security guard with Georgia-Pacific, and husband of Mary Harriott Rahn, died Tuesday at a Walterboro hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Rice Patch Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Dale Andrews, Rev. Barney Tuten and Rev. Walter Doyle. Interment will be in the church Cemetery, directed by the Fred Parker Funeral Home.
Mr. Rahn was born June 26, 1940, in Sumter, S.C., a son of the late Earl Renalda Rahn, Sr., and Loveata Murdaugh Rahn. He was a member of Deep Branch Baptist Church in Varnville.
Surviving besides his wife are, two daughters, Renee Bell of Lake City, Fla., and Tammy Rahn of Islandton, three sons, Rudy Rahn of Varnville, Charles Rahn and Johnny Rahn, both of Islandton, three sisters, Edith Mae Polk of Islandton, Frances "Tee" Bunton of St. Helena Island and Linda Tuten of Varnville and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.

Clara Jackson Poppat, 92, formerly of Summerville, S.C., died March 18, 2002, at a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Poppat was born February 3, 1910, in Orangeburg County, S.C., a daughter of the late Daniel Russell and Georgie Sweat Russell. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Summerville.
Survivors include three daughters, Alma Rhame, Catherine Barfield, and Suzie Oliver, all of Charleston, S.C., 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hamlet Ingle of Summerville, S.C., a son and daughter, Kim "Ski" Garbini and Bill Ingle, both of Summerville, a brother, Ron Ingle of Murrells Inlet, S.C., a grandson, Michael Garbini and granddaughter, Chandler Ingle, both of Summerville, S.C.

Wardlaw Edwin "Ed" Skinner, Jr. retired Senior Resident Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and husband of Betty Mace Skinner of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. died Monday, March 18, 2002 in a local hospital. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skinner are invited to attend the funeral services of the former Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2002 in Salem Black River Presbyterian Church, Mayesville, S.C., at 2 o'clock. Mr. Skinner was born in Mayesville, S.C., a son of Wardlaw Edwin and Mary Rembert Skinner. He was a graduate of Mayesvlle High School, attended USC, and graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School. He was a member of Sigma Nu an Phi Delta Phi Fraternities. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps 306th Bomb Group in Thurleigh, England. He flew 22 combat missions over Europe. Mr. Skinner served with the FBI from 1950 to 1979. During his career, he served in Baltimore, Md., Wilmington, Del., New York City, and Charleston, S.C. During his career, he worked and supervised all types of FBI investigations. While in New York, he specialized in organized crime matters. He retired in 1979 as the Senior Resident Agent. After his retirement, he became a private contractor handling National Security background investigations for various US government agencies. He was a member of Salem Black River Presbyterian Church, Mayesville, S.C.

CHAPEL HILL, NC-Elliott Hammett, 65, longtime employee of the Veteran's Administration
Hospital in Durham where he was a clinical psychiatrist, died Friday, March 15, 2002 after a brief illness. He was also a professor emeritus at Duke University. After his retirement he worked in New Zealand and for Staffcare in Irving, Texas doing locum tennens work as a psychiatrist. Through Staffcare he worked mainly for Catawba Mental Health Centers in Rock Hill, Lancaster and Chester, SC. He is survived by his wife, Janice, his daughter, Jennifer Owens, her husband, Glenn, two step-sons, Hughes Helm, his wife, Beth and Miles Helm, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Wayne Hammett, his wife, Jean, his sister, Ruth Cross, her husband, Dee, and a loving extended family and many kind friends. He requested that no one send flowers but memorials can be made to the North Chatham (NC) Volunteer Fire Department, Chatham County First Health, the Nature Conservancy, or the Evergreen United Methodist Church on U.S. 15-501, Chapel Hill, NC. Gloria Cuzzell Scarborough, 72, of Charleston, died Monday, March 18, at her residence. Born in Charleston to the late Anthony Aloysius and Gertrude Davis Cuzzell. Mrs. Scarborough was married to the late Harry Lawrence Scarborough, Jr. She was a 1946 graduate of Bishop England High School, a member of the Shepherd Center of Charleston, Notre Dame Club of Charleston, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of 50 years, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Nativity Leisure Club, Charter Member of the Perpetual Adoration Society, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. After many years of service, Mrs. Scarborough retired from the Department of Social Services. Mrs. Scarborough is survived by her son, Harry L. Scarborough, III, of Charleston, four daughters, Ann S. Robertson of Charleston, Trudy S. Coffey of Charleston, Ruth S. Baker and husband Rodney of Charleston, and Bobbi Scarborough Harrell and husband Larry of Rome, Italy.
