Odel B. Mitchell died Friday, March 22, 2002. Born the daughter of Eugenia and Frank Bevil of Griffin, Ga. She worked as a secretary for an antique company in Charleston, S.C., for 24 years and was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. Her husband, Louis A. Mitchell, and her son, Louis A. Mitchell, Jr., preceded her in death. After retiring she moved to Atlanta and was a member of Chamblee First United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son Edward B. Mitchell and daughter-in-law, Rose Ann, daughter, Marjorie Ann and son-in-law, Lonnie Sansbury of Florence, S.C., daughter-in-law Betty Mitchell of Sarasota, Fla., seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. HAMPTON - Mr. Lee W. Johnston, Sr., 62, of 810 West Poplar Street West in Hampton, died early Sunday morning in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Carnegie, Pa., on May 30, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Mae Cole Johnston. He was a funeral director with Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, was a member and Deacon at the First Christian Church in Hampton, and was an Air Force Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy H. Johnson of the home; two sons, Lee W. Johnston, Jr., and Mark Hammond of Hollywood, S.C.; one daughter, Debra J. Thomas of Fairfax; one brother, Clifford Johnston of Barnwell; one sister, Yvonne Hunt of Fort Meyers, Fla. There are three grandchildren, Jason Bradley Thomas, Phillip Daniel Thomas and Samantha Hammond.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, in the Hampton First Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Claude Hydrick and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME, with burial following in the Hampton Cemetery.

Pearl C. Peeples, 90, of Savannah, Georgia, formerly of Ravenel, S.C., widow of Nathan B. Peeples died Sunday morning in a Savannah hospital.

She attended Bulloch County Schools in Stilson, Georgia. She was a former employee of the American Tobacco Company. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Maude Postell Sunday School Class and a member of Sauldam Baptist Church.
Surviving are sisters, Mittie McAllister, Iver Davis, Wilma Lowe of Savannah, Ga., Elouise Wheatley of Tampa, Fla. and Betty Coursey of Port Wentworth, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

HAMPTON - Mrs. Rosena Stanley Crosby, 79, widow of the late John Franklin Crosby, died Saturday afternoon in the Baptist Hospital in Columbia, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Crosby was born in Springfield, Georgia, October 29, 1922 a daughter of the late Thomas Albert Stanley and Mary Margaret Davis Stanley. She had formerly worked with Plywood Plastics Corp. (International Paper) in Hampton, and was a member of the West End Baptist Church in Hampton. Surviving are: one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hull of West Columbia; one brother: John Wesley Stanley of Homestead, Florida and one sister: Katherine Crosby Stanley of Estill. There are six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased in death by a son: John Franklin Crosby, II.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Jule Young and Rev. Kevin Crosby, with burial in the Browning Cemetery.

WALTERBORO - Mr. James Carlos Broach, Sr., 86, of 410 Sarah Street, Walterboro, formerly of Paducah, Ky. died Saturday at his residence. Mr. Broach was born Sept. 30, 1915 in Mayfield, Ky. and was a son of James Arthur Broach and Legalia VanCleve Broach. He was the husband of Helen Pentecost Broach. He was a retired circulation manager for the Louisville Courier Journal in Paducah. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paducah and attended the Bedon Baptist Church in Walterboro. He was an Army veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge #127 and the American Legion Post #0031 in Paducah.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedon Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Bjork officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
