Mrs. Drew was born in Marion, South Carolina, the daughter of Joseph Gatlin Johnson and Nellie DeWitt Johnson. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of King's Daughters.
Surviving are two daughters, Jan D. Derrick and husband Furman of Andalusia, Ala., and Linda D. Heins and husband Richard of Charleston, S.C.; one son, Franklyn R. Drew and wife June of Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cowles was born September 2, 1910 in Glens Falls, New York, the son of the late Frank L. Cowles, Sr. and Jessica Little Cowles. He was a graduate of Glens Falls Academy and Hamilton College. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He was retired from the Bond Department with Glens Falls Insurance Company. He was a Trustee of Glens Falls Home; Treasurer of Cemetery Commission, Town of Queensbury; Board member of Glens Falls Association for the Blind; County Chairman for The March of Dimes; served on the Official Admin. Board of Christ Church United Methodist and member of the Glens Falls Country Club and the Club at Seabrook Island.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years; 2 daughters, Nancy Cowles Wilson and Robin Cowles Hanks; a son, Frank Waite Cowles; two step-sons, Douglas S. Luke, Jr. and Curtis B. Luke; 9 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Ida Josephine Hicks and two sisters Harriet Cowles and Alida Cowles Woodcock.

ROUND O - Henry DeLee, 52, died Tuesday in New York.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Aimwell Presbyterian Church, Neyles community. Burial will be in Woodfoot Cemetery.
Mr. DeLee was born in Colleton County and was the son of the late James DeLee and Martha Colleton DeLee. He was a graduate of Colleton High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Aimwell Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the senior choir and an usher in this church.
Surviving are, five brothers, James Davis, Syracuse, N.Y., Edgar Wright, Walterboro, Alexander Wright (Edna), Round O, David DeLee (Peggy), Walterboro and Sylvester DeLee (Cathy), Alabama; three sisters, Alice Whitlock (Willie), Syracuse, N.Y., Lou Bertha Hoper, Tennessee and Barbara Jenkins, Walterboro.

Mr. Beasley was born November 2, 1914, in Barnwell County, S.C., the son of William Moss Beasley and Elizabeth Hutto Beasley. He was a retired printer with the Charleston Evening Post and the News and Courier for 56 years. He was a Charter Member of Harbor Light Baptist Church and President of Robert Taylor Sunday School Class; a life member of James Island Masonic Lodge #396. He served as Constable for 25 years with Judge William Henry Simmons, Jr., on James Island. He was a professional prize fighter from 1928 to 1933, where he fought under the name of "Newsboy" Beasley and had a record of 89 wins and 3 losses. Fighting in the 128 weight class, he was well known as a champ throughout the entire southeast. After retirement from boxing, "Newsboy" coached Golden Glove championship teams.
He is survived by three sons, James W. Beasley and his wife Mary Ann, John W. Beasley and his wife Tutti and Joseph W. Beasley and his wife Donna, all of James Island, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Wendy B. Hull, Billy Beasley, Casie Beasley, J.J. Beasley, Jesse Beasley, Aaron Beasley and David Alosi; two great-grandchildren, Jared Hull and Emma Hull. George Sinnott Epps, 84, of North Charleston, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2002, in CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. He was the son of the late William James Epps and Adale Cecilia Gamble Epps. He was a retired trucker for Infinger Truck Lines, a 30 year employee of Hess Lorias Hess Station. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Epps was a member of the Dorchester Wayln Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Leuadean D. Epps, and two sons, Robert M. Epps and Aldon Epps, Sr.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie Fish, of Goose Creek, Dorothy Cumbee, of Hanahan, Mae Williams, of North Charleston, Cathy Epps, of North Charleston, Tammy Genove, of North Charleston, sons, George W. Thelma Leona Browning Wiegand, 98, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. died Friday, March 29, 2002 in Cooper Hall Assisted Living. The funeral service will be Monday, April 1, 2002 in J. Mrs. Wiegand was born in Cumberland, Maryland, a daughter of Russell and Julia Browning. She was a member and former pianist of Isle of Palms Baptist Church, the Isle of Palms Garden Club and the "Keenagers".
Surviving are one daughter, Betty Jean Thelma Dicks of Isle of Palms, S.C., one grandson, Norman M. Dicks of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

NORTON, Annie
LATTA - Lieutenant Commander, USNR Retired Annie K. Norton, age 85, died on March 28, 2002 at her home on Cashua Ferry Road near Bingham, S.C.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m. at Manning Chapel Methodist Church in Bingham, where she was a long time member, followed by interment in McLeod Cemetery on Cashua Ferry Road. Visitation will be held Saturday evening March 30, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Kannaday Funeral Home on 205 N. Richardson Street, Latta, S.C.
Lt. Cdr. Norton was born on January 4, 1917. She was the daughter of Julius McDonald Norton and Sallie May Gilbert. Her four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. They were: Grady G. Norton, J. LaFon Norton, Bertis T. Norton, Thomas C. Norton and Sallie M. (Norton) Hughes.
She is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Donna M. Borders of Davisboro, Ga.; Shirley A. Coleman of Latta; John F. Hughes of Greenwood; Norton S. Hughes of Latta; Thomas L. Norton of Little Rock; C. Townsend Norton of Darlington; Sallie E. Pittman of Wake Forest, N.C.; Jackie N. Rowland of Hamer; E. Ann Sealey of Lake View, and Mary L. Stone of Laurinburg, N.C.
Lt. Cdr. Norton graduated from Latta High School in June 1934, from nursing training at the Episcopal Hospital in Washington, D.C. in April 1936, and from the School of Nursing at the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. in June 1940. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps in October 1944 and served during W.W.II, Korea, and the Vietnam wars. Her duty stations included: Portsmouth, Virginia; Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; Oakland, California; Bethesda, Maryland; Argentie, Newfoundland; Chelsea, Massachusetts; Norfolk, Virginia; Yokosuka, Japan; and Beaufort, South Carolina. She left the Navy in 1953 to care for her elderly mother but remained in the Navy Reserves while working as a nurse at Saint Eugene Hospital in Dillon. She returned to active duty in 1959 and retired in December 1974 after 30 years of service. Her remaining years were spent at the family homeplace where she was born.

Mr. Watford was born October 7, 1920, in Florence County, a son of Mack Cleve Watford and Bertie Bell McKenzie Watford. He was a manager for the Massey Ferguson Dealership for Parson, Inc. A decorated Army Sergeant of W.W.II and the Korean War receiving the Korean Presidential Unit Medal, the Purple Heart, five bronze service stars, and two bronze service arrow heads. He attended the Black River Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Feagin Watford of Andrews; two sons, Wayne Watford of Andrews and Glenn Watford of Georgetown; five brothers, Earl Watford of Atlanta, Ga., B.B. Watford, Edward "Ed" Watford Heyward Watford, and Bobby Watford, all of Andrews; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

BERRY, Richard
WALTERBORO - Richard Manning Berry, 70, a retired jet engine mechanic with the Charleston Air Force Base, and husband of Carolyn Jones Berry, died Friday at a Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the chapel of the Fred Parker Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. David Cox. Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery.
Mr. Berry was born August 11, 1931 in Walterboro, a son of the late James Leroy Berry and Lillie Bailey Berry. He was a member of North Walterboro Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving besides his wife, are: a son, Richard M. Berry, Jr. of Walterboro and a sister, Annie Lee Boicourt of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Patricia Maguire Spencer, 74, died March 29, 2002, in a local hospital. Born February 13, 1928, in East Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of Frank P. and Martha Graham Maguire. Her husband, William L. Spencer predeceased her in death. MAPP, Ethel
LAKE CITY - Mrs. Ethel Thompson Mapp, 97, widow of Clarence T. Mapp, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Mapp, born in North Augusta, was a daughter of the late Charles David and Johnnie Spires Thompson. She was the librarian for the Lake City Public Library for many years and was a member of Lake City First Baptist Church and the Easterling Sunday School Class. She served on the Ration Board during World War II and was a member of the Sorosis Club and the Fine Arts Club.
Survivors include, one daughter, Dorothy M. and son-in-law Dr. R. L. Cockfield of Lake City; two granddaughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Dan Bushardt and Jenny and Henry Johnson, both of Lake City; and four great-grandsons, Joe Bushardt of Myrtle Beach, Dr. Reamer Bushardt, and his wife Christin of Charleston, Will Johnson and James Johnson, both of Lake City.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, March 30, 2002, in the Lake City First Baptist Church with burial in Lake City Memorial Park.

ELLOREE, S.C. - James Young (J.Y.) Antley, Jr., 77, 640 Hampton St., Elloree, S.C., died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at an Orangeburg hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2002, 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial in Bookhart Family Cemetery, Elloree, S.C. Pastor Richard Albert will officiate.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Sunday School Class and Church Council member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as well as special friends.
Mr. Antley was the son of the late James Young, Sr., and the late Grace Irick. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served faithfully in many capacities. Mr. Antley was a member of the S.C. Football Association in Charlotte, N.C. He managed and played in the Eastern Carolina Baseball League. Mr. Antley was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening. He was also a wood carver. He was a veteran, serving four years in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Antley retired from the S.C. Highway Department after serving many years.
He is survived by, his wife, Georgia Mae Moorer Antley of the home; one daughter, Cathy A. and Douglas Kibbey, Goose Creek, S.C.; three grandchildren, Marshall Kibbey, New Haven, Conn., Carrie and Matthew Kibbey, Goose Creek, S.C., and a number of nieces and nephews.

PERKINS, James
James H. Perkins, 88, of Moncks Corner, S.C., died Wednesday, March 27, at a local hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to the late William Warr Cassidy and Maude Lillian Ethel Macklem Perkins, he was married to the late Virginia N. Perkins. He was a graduate of Leigh University in Pennsylvania. Mr. Perkins served in WWII in the United States Navy; he retired as manager of the Water Company in Langhorne, Penn. Mr. Perkins was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion, he also was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family in Moncks Corner. He is survived by his two sons, James H. Perkins, II, and wife Nancy of Gulf Port, Miss., and Michael Perkins and wife Louise of Langhorne, Penn., two daughters, Trudi Woolley, and Barbara Putnam both of Moncks Corner. Seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive Mr. Perkins. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 15, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, Moncks Corner. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. MINSHEW, Jean
Jean F. Minshew, 76, of Johns Island, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Minshew was the daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor Fagg. Born April 21, 1925, in Austin, Texas, she lived most of her life in the Charleston area. She was owner and operator of E.L. Jeans Flower Shop and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Mrs. Minshew was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Oliver Grey "OG" Minshew of Johns Island, a son William "Billy" Minshew of Charleston, a daughter, Jeanne and (Stanley) Warford of Immokalee, Fla., two granddaughters, Tammy Kay and (Ricky) Bass of Felda, Fla., Katherine and (Lane) Price of Immokalee, Fla., five great-grandchildren, Derek Bass, Victoria Bass, Megan Price, Matthew Price, and Zachary Price. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, March 30, 2002, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
