MURDAUGH, Clifton
Mr. Clifton C. Murdaugh, 73, of 2713 Possom Corner Road in Early Branch, died Thursday afternoon at his residence after an extended illness.
Born August 6, 1928, in Yemassee, he was the son of the late Cornelious Franklin Murdaugh and Irene Gibson Murdaugh. Mr. Murdaugh had worked at the Beaufort Marine Air Station as a Supervisor in the Carpenter Shop, was an Army veteran and was a member of the Sand Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was an R.A. Leader.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Mears Murdaugh of the home; his step-mother, Erneal D. Murdaugh of Early Branch; sons and daughters-in-law, Hemmie and Doris Y. Murdaugh of Early Branch, Donald and Trudy T. Murdaugh of Hampton; sons, Ronald Murdaugh of Yemassee and Harry Murdaugh of Early Branch; three brothers, James Murdaugh of Jacksonville, Fla., Franklin Murdaugh of Hampton, and Wesley Murdaugh of Hilton Head, S.C.; three sisters, Mary Peeples of Early Branch, Lorrine Ferguson of Beaufort and JoAnn Pittinger of Early Branch; three grandchildren, April, Jocob and Travis Murdaugh. He is also survived by a special uncle, Harold Sineath of Hampton and was predeceased by a special aunt, Carrie Sineath.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, at 2 p.m., in the Sand Hill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Don Turner, Rev. Neal Samples and Rev. Joey Beasley and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME OF HAMPTON. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m., prior to services.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

Marilyn Jean Twiss Weber, 61, of Summerville, wife of Francis J. "Frank" Weber, Sr., died Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 1, 2002, at 11 o'clock, in St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church, Summerville. Final Farewell & Commendation will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.

Mrs. Weber was born October 27, 1940, in Danvers, Mass., a daughter of the late Chester N. Twiss and Mariam Louise Knight Twiss.
She was a graduate of Boston University in Boston, Mass. She worked for 14 years as a public information officer with the Dorchester School District II. She was a Managing Editor with the Summerville Journal Scene. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
Surviving are, her husband, Francis J. "Frank" Weber, Sr., of Summerville, S.C.; step-mother, Jean Twiss of Dennis, Mass.; two sons, Francis J. "Frank" Weber, Jr., of York, Maine, David A. Weber of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Mariam W. Dittmann of Snellville, Ga., Beverlee A. Metzger of Summerville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Matthew S. Dittman of Snellville, Ga., Blake A. Metzger of Summerville, S.C., Bradley A. Metzger of Summerville, S.C., Emily C. Weber of York, Maine, and Daniel C. Weber of York, Maine.

KIRKER, Anne
The family of Anne Margrethe (Johannessen) Kirker announces her death and new life at God's side on March 20, 2002, the first day of Spring, in Summerville, S.C. She was born to Emma and Elmer Johannessen, October 21, 1912, in Harstad, Norway, immigrating to the U.S.A. on the 4th of July at age nine.
Mrs. Kirker, known as Annie-Joh, was foremost a mother and grandmother. As a young adult, she sang solo with a big band in Detroit, Mich. Following her marriage in 1943, she worked for the former Burroughs Corporation also in Detroit and later for her husband as his office manager. True to her Viking spirit she had a passion for travel. After her husband's death in 1970, she set out on an ocean-going cargo liner and for several months sailed unaccompanied around the world. A strong patriot, she loved America and traveled its borders extensively. In her adult years, she lived in Richmond and Marysville, Mich., moving to Boca Raton, Fla., in 1973, until 2000, when she moved to South Carolina to be nearer her family.
Mrs. Kirker shared her gifts with various charities, most especially supporting the church her son and daughter-in-law planted in Summerville. She actively worked with a group that founded Oakland University in Michigan and more recently served as volunteer for the Caldwell Theatre in Florida. She enjoyed her solitude, too, reading literature and working puzzles.
Mrs. Kirker is survived by her son, Rev. P. Cameron Kirker (wife Carol Kirker), daughter Gilda-Jo A. Hayes (Michigan), her twin granddaughters, Kristin L. and Kelley L. Kirker (South Carolina), brothers Anders (Washington), Richard (Oregon), and H. George (Michigan) Johannessen, sister Elin Nanninga (Michigan), and several nieces and nephews, including William O. Kirker, M.D. (South Carolina). Preceding her in death was her husband, John Gilmore Kirker, Jr. M.D., her brother Elmer Johannessen, Jr., and her son-in-law Frank N. Hayes.
As cremation has taken place, two memorial services are being planned, one in Summerville at he son's church "Oakbrook Community Church" on Saturday, March 30, at 2 p.m.; the second in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m. Mrs. Kirker, and her family, requested that in lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts in her name be made to "Oakbrook Community Church," 705-H Old Trolley Road, Summerville, S.C. 29485. Edward Joseph Coury, 83, the husband of Mary Ubaldi Coury of Charleston died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at a local hospital. Mr. Coury was born Friday, May 24, 1918 in Jacksonville, Fl the son of Joseph and Lilly Courie Coury. Mr. Coury was graduated from Valdosta High School, Birmingham Southern University and attended Harvard Business School. He was the President of Consumer Acceptance and Loan Corporation in Charleston. Mr. Coury was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of W.W.II. He was an Honorary Life member of the Rev. P.N. Lynch, Knights of Columbus, the Palmetto Touchdown Club, the Fellowship Society, Past President of the South Carolina St. Jude Children's Hospital Foundation, a member and Past President of the South Carolina Association of Licensed Lenders and was appointed by the Governor to the South Carolina State Board of Bank Control. Mr. Beasley was born November 2, 1914, in Barnwell County, S.C., the son of William Moss Beasley and Elizabeth Hutto Beasley. He was a retired printer with the Charleston Evening Post and the News and Courier for 56 years. He was a Charter Member of Harbor Light Baptist Church and President of Robert Taylor Sunday School Class; a life member of James Island Masonic Lodge #396. He served as Constable for 25 years with Judge William Henry Simmons, Jr., on James Island. He was a professional prize fighter from 1928 to 1933, where he fought under the name of "Newsboy" Beasley and had record of 89 wins and 3 losses. Fighting in the 128 weight class, he was well known as a champ throughout the entire southeast. After retirement from boxing, "Newsboy" coached Golden Glove championship teams.
He is survived by three sons, James W. Beasley and his wife Mary Ann, John W. Beasley and his wife Tutti and Joseph W. Beasley and his wife Donna, all of James Island, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Wendy B. Hull, Billy Beasley, Casie Beasley, J.J. Mrs. Richardson was born April 13, 1912 in Horry County, a daughter of the late William and Laura Martin Singleton. Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker and a member of Nebo Baptist Church.

WHIGHAM, Marion
Marion Stewart Hudson Whigham died at her home Friday, March 29th at the age of 89. An Atlanta native, born February 19, 1913, she attended Brenau Preparatory School and received her teaching degree from the Georgia State College for Women. A founding member of Club Estates Garden Club, she was an avid gardener, won numerous awards for her flower arrangements, published a book on sundials, and designed and sold garden accessories, one of which sat in the garden of the White House during the Lyndon Johnson administration. She loved everything about golf, recounting stories about East Lake and Bobby Jones, and she won an amateur women's golf championship in the 1930's. She was proud to be one of the early women members of The Piedmont Driving Club as well as a member of the Chattooga Club in Cashiers, N.C. Renowned for her beauty, she had an incomparable sense of style and creative wit, played a great game of bridge and mahjong, and had a passion for travel - Katmandu, a favorite destination.
In 1936 she married the late Dr. Paul Lovejoy Hudson. After his death in 1962, she became an enthusiastic antique dealer and world traveler. In 1984, she married the late Samuel J. Whigham. She was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of St. Philip and the St. Agnes Guild. She is survived by her children, Millie Hudson Lathan of Atlanta; Kathleen Hudson Rivers of Charleston, S.C.; and Paul Lovejoy Hudson, Jr. of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 until 7 at Spring Hill. He was a retired agent with Metropolitan Insurance Company, a 50 year life member of Solomon's Lodge #1, a Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America, and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Carroll B. Dority, Jr. of Washington, S.C., Julian W. Dority of Greenville, S.C., Rev. Richard F. Dority and Thomas E. Dority both of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Edith D. Lucas of Charleston, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Born July 9, 1918 in Bladen County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late George and Lina Taylor Ezzell. Mr. Ezzell was a retired mechanic with Sanders Brothers Construction, where he worked for 37 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II. Mr. Ezzell was a member of Midland Park Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. AMELUNXEN, Dina
Dina Lenie Stortenbeek Amelunxen, widow of Johan "John" Amelunxen of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. died Thursday, March 28, 2002 in a local nursing home. The Memorial Service will be Wednesday, April 3, 2002 in the Ryefield Room, Sandpiper Village at 2:00 o'clock. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mrs. Amelunxen was born in a small village outside Amsterdam, Holland on October 25, 1905, a daughter of Andre and Anna K. Stortenbeek. She was a retired Nursing Assistant, a gifted artist, an avid gardener and a member of the bridge club at Sandpiper Village.
Surviving are her cousin, Marianne Payne of Dauntsy, Wiltshire, England, sister-in-law, Maria Amelunxen of Victoria, B.C., one niece, Annika Leupin of Canada, and one great-niece, Jenny Moe of Cincinnati, Ohio, and her dear friend, Mary Bunce of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
