CENTENARY, S.C. - Mrs. Rosa Richardson Rogers, 92, widow of Jesse Gibson Rogers, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at her residence after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 1, at Centenary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Terrells Bay Cemetery, directed by SMITH-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Rogers was born September 29, 1909, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Robert Franklin Richardson and the late Lola Anna Williams Richardson. Mrs. Rogers had worked with the Rains-Centenary schools cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member of Centenary Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Rogers are, four daughters, Frances Bridgman and her husband Wilder of Marion, Eleanor Turner and her husband Ben of Conway, Becky Rogers of Centenary, and Jessie Haymond and her husband Roy of Centenary; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Marie Hardwick of Lake View and Maidne Larrimore of Brittons Neck.
Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation, 1911 Barnwell St., Columbia, S.C. 29202, or to the Centenary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 333, Centenary, S.C. 29519, or to Terrells Bay Cemetery, 1005 Francis Gibson Road, Marion, S.C. 29571.
The family will be receiving friends at Mrs. Rogers' home at 123 Centenary Ave., Centenary.
GALLMAN, Betty
Relatives and friends of Ms. Betty Gallman of Newberry, S.C.; the beloved mother of Mr. Clifford Todd Gallman of Virginia; the beloved sister of Mr. Wilbert Gallman of Prosperity, S.C., Mrs. Mary Tolliver of Philadelphia, Pa.; the beloved cousin of Mrs. Lula (Rev. Sam) Prioleau of St. Stephen, S.C., are invited to attend her funeral services on Monday, April 1, 2002, at 1 p.m., at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1501 College St., Newberry, S.C.

DILLA, Sarah
Sarah Elizabeth Dilla, 28, of Browning Dr., East Hampton, died unexpectedly Friday in East Hampton from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Middletown, December 29, 1973, and had resided in East Hampton for nine years. She was a graduate of Stratford High School, Goose Creek, S.C., and presently was the office manager for J.C. Products, Higganum. Sarah was a cherished mother, daughter, fiancé, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin. She had a zest for life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her father and step-mother, Douglas and Joanne Dilla of Colchester, her mother and step-father, Kerry and Craig Chambers of Ladson, S.C.; her daughter Samantha Veazie, her fiancé, Ken Veazie and his son, David, of East Hampton; two half-sisters, Nicole and Marissa Dilla of Colchester; two step-sisters, Terry Raymond and Michelle Chambers; a brother, Ryan M. Dilla of Summerville, S.C.; her paternal grandparents, Patricia and John Shortt of Moodus, her maternal grandmother, Jean McShea of Cobalt and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, John E. McShea. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 11 a.m., at SPENCER FUNERAL HOME, 112 Main St., East Hampton, with the Rev. Charles R. LeBlanc, pastor of St. Patrick Church, East Hampton, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Private burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Willimantic. Those who wish may make memorials to a charity of the donor's choice.

BURROWS, Peter
CLEMSON, S.C. - Dr. Peter M. Burrows of Clemson, S.C., died February 21, 2002. A native of Nottingham, England, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Leah Lempard Burrows. In 2001, the Trustees of Clemson University conferred the official title of Professor Emeritus upon Dr. Burrows, a biometrician and quantitative geneticist.
Survivors include, wife, E. Joyce Richardson Burrows of the home; one sister, two nephews, and a niece in England.
Services will be held February 26, 2002, in Luverne, Ala., with burial in the Luverne Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, April 21, 2002, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the grand ballroom of the Madren Conference Center on the Clemson University Campus. Family will receive friends at 2 p.m., a formal program will begin at 3 p.m., to be followed by a reception. Former students, colleagues, former 4-H'ers, 4-H volunteer leaders, Extension Retirees, and other friends of the Richardson and Burrows families are invited. Individuals who plan to attend are asked to send by April 10, 2002, their names and addresses by e-mail to, exstcka@clemson.edu.

BARNUM, Virginia
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Virginia Roedel Barnum, 87, of 2221 Westhaven Drive, Fayetteville, N.C., died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, N.C. She was formerly of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2002, tentative time at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
She is survived by two sons, Keith Barnum of Fayetteville, N.C., and Craig Barnum of Greenville, S.C.; one daughter, Debbie Barnum of Westerville, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

ADKINSON, Catherine
RUFFIN - Catherine Adkinson, 81, died March 28, 2002, at her residence.
The funeral will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2002, at her residence.

Mrs. Adkinson was born in Colleton County, a daughter of the late Coax and Litteree Stephens. She received her education in the public schools in Colleton County. She was a member and Mother of Bethel Holiness Church No. 5.
Surviving are, her husband, Charlie Adkinson, Sr., of the home; five daughters, Minnie Myers of Varnville, Nadine Stephens, and Allydine Simmons, both of Walterboro, Betty Adkinson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Earline Adkinson of Bronx, N.Y.; a son, Charlie Adkinson, Jr., of Walterboro; a step-mother, Lovie Edwards; a brother, Leon Edwards; a sister, Angeline Givens; 3 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

JOHNS, Gordon
FAIRFAX - Mr. Gordon Johns, husband of Joan Louise Fail Johns, died Saturday morning at his residence after an extended illness. He was 76.
Mr. Johns was born September 21, 1925, in Allendale County, a son of the late Mack Johns, and Irene Platts Johns. Mr. Johns lettered in six man football at Fairfax High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in Germany and Belgium. Mr. Johns was a retired employee of DuPont at the Savannah River Plant where he worked in the Maintenance Department. He was also a retired part-time farmer. As a Mason, Mr. Johns served as PWM, DDGM, and Treasurer of Beaufort Lodge #27 in Fairfax. He served as W.P. of the Fairfax Eastern Star Chapter #65. Mr. Johns was also an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and was a former Choir Director. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Surviving, besides his wife of Fairfax are, two sons, Roger Dale Johns, and Dennis G. Johns, both of Lexington, S.C.; one daughter, Joan Marie Johns Waggoner, of Lexington; two brothers, Grady "Buddy" Johns, of Keiser, Ark., and E.P. Johns, of Summerville; four sisters, Lucille J. Stokes, of Johnston, Carolyn J. Piekelniak of Edgefield, Louise J. Bryan, of Johnston, and Annie Mae J. Turner, of Nixville; six grandchildren, Brian Johns, of Paloalto, Calif., Kellie Johns, of Charlotte, N.C., Cynthia Waggoner, Dustin, Allison, and Ashley Johns, all of Lexington.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church, with burial following in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. a Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice of Bamberg, or to the American Cancer Society. SMITH-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME of Allendale is in charge of arrangements.
SEIFFERT, Caroline
Mrs. William E. Seiffert, nee Caroline Heyward Jenkins, died on March 24, 2002. Graveside services will be held at Christ Church, Adams Run, S.C., on Saturday, April 13, at 4 p.m., with the Reverend Richard Belser officiating.
Mrs. Seiffert was born May 14, 1906, in Greenville, S.C. Her father was Douglas Jenkins, U.S. Consul General; mother, Charlotte Keith Furman of Charleston, S.C. She married William E. Seiffert of Swiss nationality in Canton, China, and resided there for ten years. She came with her husband and three sons to Augusta, Ga., in 1940, and lived there until early 1992, when she moved to Cooper Hall in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
She was a graduate of Winthrop College in Rock Hill, was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta and of St. Michaels Church in Charleston. She was a member of the Colonial Dames and of the Hilltop Garden Club.
Her son, William D. Seiffert of Bonita Springs, Fla., died in 1998. She is survived by two sons, Douglas Seiffert, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Edward Seiffert, Marietta, Ohio; and by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend the graveside memorial service at Christ Church in Adams Run.
