James D. Poole, 85, of Goose Creek, died unexpectedly on the morning of Monday, April 8, 2002. His funeral service will be 1 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call this evening (Tuesday) from 6 until 8 p.m. at Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel.
Mr. Poole was born in Wrightsville, Ga., on February 8, 1917, a son of the late George C. and Emma Rawls Poole. During World War II, he served in the army infantry during the D-Day Invasion. He was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart as well as two campaign medals with bronze stars. He was a retired carpenter at the Charleston Air Force Base. He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle Simpson Poole in 1989.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James R. (Eileen) Poole of Kennsaw, Ga.; his two daughters, Laverne Owens and Betty Jo Roberson, both of Goose Creek; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, George Poole of Tifton, Ga., and Talmadge Poole of Scott, Ga.; four sisters, Juanita Jordon of Wrightsville, Ga., Janet Flanders of Dublin, Ga., Marian Davis of Jacksonville, Fla., and Peggy Greer of Tifton, Ga., also survive.
Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 409 King St., Charleston, S.C. 29403.
BENNETT, Robert
With regret, we inform you that Mr. Robert Bennett of 133 Horseshoe St., entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 8, 2002; the beloved son of the late Mr. William and Mrs. Jane Bennett; the beloved brother of Mrs. Catherine Grant (Raymond) of Ridgeville, S.C., Ms. Florence Polite (Gripper), of North Charleston, S.C., and Ms. Marie Clark of Summerville, S.C. SUMMEY, Myrtis
Myrtis Thomas Summey, 79, of North Charleston, died Monday, April 8, 2002, in a local nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Hampton County, on February 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James Irvin Thomas and Rebecca Thomas Thomas.
Mrs. Summey was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include, two sons, Raymond Keith Summey, of North Charleston, and Irvin Richard Summey, of Charleston, two sisters, Dean Thomas Strickland of Houston, Texas, and Barbara Thomas Reid, of Walterboro. Four grandchildren, Raymond Arch Price and Tia Price Smith, raised in the home and Joseph Elliott Summey and JoAnna Elizabeth Summey, of North Charleston. Three great-grandchildren, Collin Lane Smith, Chance Tyler Smith, Kristen Evan Robert Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Luther Summey and a daughter Gale Summey Price.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, S.C. Arrangements are being handled by CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME.

COLE, Jean
Jan Munsey Cole, 77, of Summerville, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Blackwater, Virginia, on October 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses W. Munsey and Bessie Munsey Munsey.
Mrs. Cole was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a retired office manager for Berkeley Electric Co-Op and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, John Herman Cole, of Summerville; one daughter, Connie C. Faulling of Goose Creek; two sons, Jerry W. Cole of Orland, Maine and Jeff Cole of Summerville; four grandchildren, Lauren Cole, Caitlin Cole, Bradford Cole and Robert L. Cole.

MARSH, Dorothy
Dorothy Walden Marsh, 91, of Summerville, S.C., widow of Geo Rolison Marsh, died Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Summerville Medical Center.
Services will be private. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Bristol, Conn.
Mrs. Marsh was born on May 22, 1910 in Waterbury, Conn., a daughter of the late Gilbert Eugene Walden and Elizabeth Middleton Walden. She was a graduate of New Britain Normal School in 1929 and later received her BS degree from Southern Connecticut State Teachers College. She taught school in Bristol and Milford, Conn. for 28 years. In 1970 she moved to Port Charlotte, Fla., where she was a member of the auxiliary and an employee of St. Joseph Hospital. She later moved to Summerville, S.C. where she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Dorchester Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are 2 sons, George R. Marsh, Jr. of Summerville, S.C. and Curtis W. Marsh of Biloxi, Miss.; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements by TRI-COUNTY CREMATION CENTER, 11000 DORCHESTER ROAD, SUMMERVILLE, S.C.

Oran Pruitt Hall, 77, of Summerville, husband of LaVerne Niesslein Hall died Monday morning at a North Charleston hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 o'clock in St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville. Rite of Committal with Final Commendation will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Summerville.
Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Summerville from 6 until 8 o'clock Wednesday evening where a Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 o'clock.

Born on December 20, 1924, in Lawrence County, Alabama, a son of Homer M. Hall and Velma Coan Hall.
Mr. Hall was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Sertoma Club where he had served as the Treasurer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and later he served with the Air Force Reserves. He was a Certified Public Accountant and owner of Oran P. Hall, CPA in Summerville. He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, LaVerne Niesslein Hall of Summerville; 3 step-sons & daughters-in-law, Keith & Meloney Shipley of Fletcher, N.C., William & Mary Ann Shipley of Columbia, S.C., Allen & Patty Shipley of Pennsylvania; one step-daughter & son-in-law, Barbara & David Hartman of Pennsylvania; 1 brother, Leonard & Bobbi Hall of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

FENDER, Lottie Mae
Mrs. Lottie Mae Fender, 89, of Walterboro, died Sunday at Oakwood Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Doctor's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery, directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Fender was born in Baldwin, Florida, a daughter of the late Eddie Beach and Hester Peeples Beach. She was a member of Doctor's Creek Baptist Church, where she had been active in the W.M.U. She was a retired lunchroom worker with the Colleton County School District and was the widow of Rhett R. Fender.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Ellen Fender of Walterboro, a brother, W.L. Beach of Jacksonville, Florida, and a grandson, Rhett Fender.

Mrs. Shepherd was born in Decatur, Alabama, a daughter of Henry Benford Lyle and Ruby Cox Lyle. She was retired from the Charleston Naval Base as Head of Purchasing. She was also a member of Sea Island Business and Professional Women's Club.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Lyle Shepherd of Wadamalaw Island, S.C.; two daughters, Anita "Cookie" Holden of Jackson, Miss. and Melanie Zane Cockerham of Lexington, N.C.; two sisters, Carolyn Garnett of Charlotte, N.C. and Norma L. Earls of McDaniels, Ky.; three grandchildren.

SMITH, Allie
BONNEAU - Mrs. Allie Louise Smith, 80, of 523 Pops Lane, died Sunday, at a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Padgett and Rev. Dale Feagin officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Holiness Cemetery, directed by BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Smith was born in Simpson County, a daughter of the late W. D. Hilton, Sr., and Nannie Bridges Hilton. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the W.M.U.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. E.C. Smith, a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Charles Cooper of Bonneau, a grandson and his wife, Duane and Samantha Crawford of Bonneau, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Doris Layton of Mendenhall, Miss., and Dorothy Cox of Hattiesburg, Miss., three brothers, Carey Hilton and W.D. Hilton, both of Mendenhall, Miss., and James Ray Hilton of Baton Rouge, La., several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
CROUSE, Carol
CENTRAL, S.C. - Carol Ellis Crouse, 51, wife of Talmage Larry Crouse, of 248 Todds Creek Road, died Sunday at a Greenville hospital. She spent most of her early years in Summerville, S.C. She was the daughter of Charlton W. Jr., and Billie G. Ellis of Summerville, S.C. She was a 1973 graduate of USC, was a member of Clemson Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Directors for Providence Christian Academy.
Surviving in addition to her husband and her parents are one daughter, Sara Elizabeth Crouse of the home and a sister, Lisa E. Waddell of Lexington, S.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Clemson Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, in Union Hill Community Cemetery, Thurmond, N.C. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at DUCKETT-ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME, Central-Clemson Commons.

MUSICK, Wallace
HEMINGWAY, S.C. - Wallace Berry (Dick) Musick, 72, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, in a Charleston hospital.
Mr. Musick was born in Carroll County, Ga., a son of the late James Wyley and Glee Harrison Musick. He was a retired farmer and retired manager of the T.A. Yawkey Hunting Lodge. He was a member of the Center Baptist Church and attended the Good Hope United Methodist Church and attended Pleasant Hill High School. Surviving are his wife, Delane Tanner Musick of the home; son, James Belton Musick of Hemingway; two daughters, Sherry M. La Pointe and Wallis M. Floyd both of Hemingway; sister, Jimmie Lewis of Hemingway; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, in the MORRIS FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with burial in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery.
