HAMON, Robert
Robert W. Hamon, 65, of Goose Creek, died on the morning of Friday, April 12, 2002 in a Charleston hospital after a lengthy illness. His funeral service will be conducted 11:00 o'clock Monday, April 15, 2002 at the Cathedral of Praise, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Rd., North Charleston. Mr. Hamon was born in Borger, Texas on November 29, 1926 a son of the late Paddy (Pat) and Eula Miller Hamon. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service. He more recently retired from the DuPont facility at Bushy Park, Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Bane Hamon, his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Pamela Hamon of North Charleston; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna Kingsbury and Kevin Shea of North Charleston, his daughter, Kathy Rhodes of Daniel Island, and his grandsons, Brandon and Jared Kingsbury and Tony Glen Hamon, Jr. His brothers, Pat Hamon of North Charleston, Bill Hamon of Millen, Ga., his sisters, Betty Lankford of Hanahan, Wanda Kirkland of North Charleston, and his twin sisters, Helene Bailey of Summerville and Ilene Mullins of Vicksburg, Miss. also survive.

MULLINS, S.C. - Mr. Bobby Carlyle King, Jr., 50, died Thursday, April 11, 2002.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at Red Hill Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. The services will be directed by COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME.
Mr. King was born January 5, 1952 in Mullins, a son of Bobby C. King, Sr. and Betty Jo Smith King. Mr. King was a Senior Bituminous Materials Inspector with the S.C. Dept. of Transportation. Mr. King was a graduate of Mullins High School and a member of Mullins First Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. King are his wife, Judy Cox King of the home; 2 daughters, Kelly King and Krystle King, both of the home; his parents, Bobby C. King, Sr. and Betty Jo King of Mullins; a brother, Jonathan King of Mullins; and 2 sisters, Carla Jo Privette of Southport, N.C. and Donna Nobles of Mullins.
Mr. King was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Murphy King.

Robert W. Kimbel, Sr., 85, longtime resident of North Charleston died Thursday, April 11, 2002 at his home. Born May 21, 1916 in Savannah, Tennessee he was the son of Hundley Broyles and Bertha Weller Kimbel (nee Hardin). Mr. Kimbel served in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W.II. He retired as a supervisor from the Charleston Army Depot. He is survived by his wife Jarvis Kimbel (nee Shanahan); three children, Robert W. Kimbel, Jr., Goose Creek, Patsy Blizzard and Peggy Feltus both of Hanahan; two brothers, Luke Kimbel, and John Chandler Kimbel both of Tennessee; three sisters, Rebecca Ann Freeman, Louise Hambie, and Maude Turner all of Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Christie Lackey, Robert Kimbel, III, Clay Kimbel, Tammy Pfeiffer, Richie Richmond, Angela Richmond, Sydney Pitts, Annette Greenway, and Heather Byrge; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Verne Mae Whitaker Martin, 84, of Kenilworth Rd., Goose Creek, S.C., a retired supervisor of in-house security for TransWorld Airlines died Tuesday in a Charleston hospital.

Mrs. Martin was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a daughter of Walter R. Whitaker and Emily Anderson Whitaker. She is the widow of William B. Martin, Jr. She was a member of Vashti Chapter 34 OES.
Surviving are a son, William B. Martin, III, of St. Albans, N.Y.; a sister, Donna M. Mars of Narragansett, R.I.; a brother, Geronimo Whitaker of Goose Creek; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Fillingim was a Manufacturing Representative for Weil's Sleep Products and a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Naval ROTC. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific.
He was a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, a volunteer for "Meals on Wheels" of Mount Pleasant and a member of Snee Farm Country Club.

WALTERBORO - Joseph Henry Koger, Jr., 83, a retired rural and city mail carrier for 30 years, died Friday at St. George Health Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Lawrence Peebles.
Mr. Koger was born December 10, 1918, in Walterboro, a son of the late James Henry Koger and Susie Calfee Koger. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and the Walterboro Lions Club.
Surviving are, his wife, Laveta Long Cook Koger, three sons, William Gary Koger of Aiken, James W. Cook of Vicksburg, Miss. and John R. Cook of Cape Coral, Fla., a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Dean of Walterboro and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomas, a retired Executive Secretary with South Carolina Electric and Gas, was born in Elberton, Ga., a daughter of P.A. Wansley and Ionie Carithers Wansley and she was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thomas graduated from Memminger High School. She was also a volunteer at Roper Hospital.
Surviving are one son, Carl W. "Whitey" Thomas of Knoxville, Tenn., one daughter, Judy T. Alewine of Greenville, S.C., four grandchildren, Mark Thomas of Knoxville, Tenn., Renee Crump of Columbia, S.C., Kevin Alewine of Charlotte, N.C., and Barrie Alewine of Atlanta, Ga., and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Thomas.

TEDESCO, Margaret
Margaret L. Tedesco, 96, of Charleston, S.C., formerly of New Brunswick, N.J., died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Bees Ferry Manor in Charleston, S.C. She was born in New Brunswick and lived there most of her life. She then lived in Boynton Beach, Fla., for 25 years before moving to Charleston, S.C., in 1996. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in New Brunswick and a member of its Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Rosary Society and Church Choir for 35 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominic J. Tedesco, in 1958, and a grandson, Richard Tedesco, in 1998. Surviving are one son, Ferdinand D. Tedesco, III, of Seabrook Island, S.C.; two sisters, Rose McMahon and Marie Urban, both, of Milltown, N.J.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

FERRELL, Thomas
Mr. Thomas Reese Ferrell, 89, of 3646 Westwood Drive in Martinez, Ga., died Thursday evening at his residence after an extended illness.
Born March 19, 1913 in Canada, Ky., he was the son of the late James Hamilton Ferrell and Ema Jean Mabe Ferrell. Mr. Ferrell was a carpenter in the building industry, was a member of the Carpenters Union #1509, and was a member of the New Life Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Wilson Ferrell of the home; four sons, Thomas Wayne Ferrell and David Haynes Ferrell, both of Martinez, Ga., Larry Edward Ferrell of Greensboro, N.C. and Roy Daniel Ferrell of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Dora Blackburn of Charleston, S.C. and Alma Tuten of Estill, S.C. There are eight grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Staffords Cemetery near Furman, S.C. conducted by Rev. Jackie Ray Robinson and Rev. Michael Coward, and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME of Hampton, S.C.

Thomas Noel Lynn, III, born in Manassas, Va., April 5, 1933, was the son of Mary Lee and Thomas Noel Lynn, Jr. He attended Falls Church, Va., High School and was a graduate of the University of Virginia. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Lynn was a retired sales manager at Compugraphic Corp. He is survived by his wife, Emily Peirano Lynn; three sons, Thomas Noel Lynn, IV of Asheville, N.C.; David Anthony and Theresa Lynn of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Robert Brian Lynn and his fiancé Sally Tomlinson of St. Cloud, Fla. He is survived by two grandchildren, David Anthony Lynn, III and Mary Katherine Lynn of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
