CLINE, Sr., Nesbitt
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Nesbitt Querry Cline, Sr., age 89, of 614 Altamont Road, died May 1, 2002.
Born in Charlotte, N.C. on August 2, 1912, he was the son of the late David Gaillard Cline and Mattie Dukes Cline. At the age of eight years he went to Connie Maxwell Orphanage at Greenwood, S.C.
Mr. Cline was founder and President of The Cline Company, established in 1948. He was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in other capacities, a member of the William Wallace Bible Class, a member of the Exchange Club and Gideon's International North Camp. He served on the Advisory Board of Carolina First BB&T and North Greenville College. He was also a member of the Commerce Club, Green Valley Country Club and Poinsett Club. He helped organize and establish several associations through his philanthropic gifts.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Anne Martin Cline of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Nesbitt Querry and Joyce White Cline, Jr. and David Martin and Julie Burts Cline, both of Greenville; four grandsons, Glenn Martin Cline, Scott Nesbitt Cline, David Martin Cline, Jr. and Wade Spencer Cline; two great-grandchildren, William David Cline and Graham Nesbitt Cline; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 2:0 p.m. at Earle Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. James Wooten, the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Epting, the Rev. David Cline, Jr. and Mr. Don Kirkland officiating. Interment for the family will be in Springwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. at THE MACKEY MORTUARY, Century Drive.

SMITH, Jr., John
GREENWOOD, S.C. - John Boyd (Cripple Smitty) Smith, Jr., age 74, of 305 Herndon Dr. died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Greenwood.
He was born in Jonesville and was the son of the late John B. Smith, Sr. and Nanny Tweed Smith.
Mr. Smith was an owner-operator in the trucking industry, was a member of the V.F.W. in McCormick and was a W.W.II U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Dee Dee Hale of Rio Rico, Ariz.; a step-daughter, Gwen Holtzclaw of Greenwood; a brother, Irving Smith of Jonesville; two sisters, Avenelle Fannon and Dot Williams both of Jonesville; a grandson, Daniel Boyd Hale of Charleston.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens in Clinton.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wallace H. Knapp, 84, widower of Agnita Wibbelsman Knapp, of Summerville, S.C. died Tuesday evening, April 30, 2002 at a local hospital.

Mr. Knapp was born July 24, 1917 in Schenectady, N.Y., a son of the late Louis H. Knapp and Jean Stewart Knapp. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan. He was a retired sales marketing associate. He was a member of St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis.
Survivors include a daughter, Agnita Handlos of Summerville, S.C.; a son, Wallace H. Knapp, Jr. of Corvallis, Or.; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Jean Barnes.

Yvonne Silva, 55, of Goose Creek, died Monday, April 29, 2002. Born February 12, 1947 in Shawano, Wis., she was the daughter of Lyle Neil and Florence Minnie Marie Montoure (nee Korth). Mrs. Rosa Bell Dickerson, 101, of Dorchester, S.C., died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at St. George Health Care Center, St. George, S.C., after an extended illness. Mrs. Dickerson was born September 1, 1900, in Harleyville, S.C., a daughter of the late Henry Simmons and Mrs. Elizabeth Simmons. She was a life-long member of the Greater St. Paul, A.M.E. Church where she served for many years as a very dedicated member of Missionary Board #2, YWCA, and the Women's Missionary Society. She was the oldest member of the church. She was first the widow of Mannie Bryant. Later she married Bunyon Dickerson who also preceded her in death. She attended the public schools of Dorchester County.
Surviving are two sons, J.D. Bryant of Dorchester, S.C., a very devoted niece, Mrs. Celia S. Williams of Trenton, N.J. She is also survived by three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
