THOMPSON, Innis
Mr. Joseph Innis Thompson, 87, of Charleston, and the widower of the late Mrs. Mareece Benton Thompson, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in the Life Care Center of Charleston. Mr. Thompson was born in Charleston on Friday, October 30, 1914, the son of the late James and Ruth LaFourcade Thompson. He attended the schools of Charleston before his first enlistment into the U.S. Army in 1934. Upon his discharge in 1937, he became a City of Charleston Bus Driver. With the outbreak of World War II, Mr. Thompson then enlisted for the second time into the U.S. Army in 1942. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II, Victory Medal. He was Honorably discharged from service in 1946. Mr. Thompson opened and operated his own Barber Shop in West Ashley until his retirement. He was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. P.N. Lynch Council No. 104. Mr. Thompson is survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2002, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be in Riverview Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, Saturday, May 4, 2002, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund. BURTON, Wells
Wells Emerson Burton, 82, husband of Virginia Burton, of Ladson, S.C., died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be held at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, May 4, 2002, at 1 o'clock. Burial will be private.
Mr. Burton was born on July 14, 1919, in Brocton, N.Y., a son of the late Chester Addison Burton and Myrtle Eliza Wells Burton. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and was a retired electrical engineer with General Electric Company for 33 years. He was a life member radio amateur with Radio Shack and charter life member of American Radio Delay League. He was a U.S. Navy Seabees veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Caroline Murtlow Burton of Ladson, S.C.

Mary Nadine (Kelley) Kormaris, 66, of Ladson, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at a local hospital. Born July 22 1936 in Hillsborough, Colo., the daughter of John and Adel Kelley (nee Unk). She is survived by her husband Nicholaos Kormaris of Ladson, three daughters, Stacie Morgan, Kelly Susan Jaekle, and Nickole Kormaris all of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Eugune Kelley of Ga. and Ray Kelley of S.C.; one sister, Lawana Monte of Ala.; five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the MCALISTER-SMITH GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek, S.C.

Stanley Gordon Alligood, 62, of Goose Crek, died May 2, 2002, at a local hospital. Born August 20, 1939 in Vanceboro, N.C. He is survived by his wife Frankie Rodman Alligood of Goose Creek, S.C. and one son, Slate Alligood of Columbia, S.C. HIOTT, Tommy
NEESES - Mr. Tommy W. Hiott, Sr. age 61, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002 at North Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ashton Feagin officiating. Burial will be in Kinney Memorial Gardens. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Mr. Hiott was born in Charleston, a son of the late Heyward W. and "Mammy" Annabelle Buck Hiott. He was a retired heating and air conditioner contractor; former employee of Sea Board Coastline Railroad; former owner of Chalkers Restaurant & Lounge I and II. He was a former member of the local sheetmetal union. Mr. Hiott attended North Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Grimes Hiott of Neeses; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy W. and Cindy Hiott, Jr. of Neeses; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Jim Lynch of Neeses; granddaughter, Christian Taylor Mize of Holly Hill; grandsons, David L. Blick, Jr. and fiancé Lauren Kirk both of Hanahan, Thomas W. Hiott, III, Craig W. Hiott and Corey J. Mize all of Neeses; sister, Mary Annette Janes of Charleston, brothers, Billy Owens and Charles E. Hiott both of Charleston; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maggie and Robert Kinney both of Neeses.
The family is at the home, 120 Viola Drive and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at CULLER-MCALHANY FUNERAL HOME.
