John Michael Ingle

JONESVILLE - John Michael Ingle, 31, of 431 Pacolet St., husband of Tonya Holt Ingle, died Nov. 20, 1998, at 2:13 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital.
Ingle was born in Union on Jan. 20, 1967, a son of Linda Bell Gregory of Union and Michael Barry Ingle of San Jose, Calif. He was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church and was formerly employed as a pipe fitter in construction work.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two sons, Michael Ashley Ingle and Cody Shawn Ingle, both of the home; two brothers, Chris Ingle of Spartanburg and Brian Ingle of San Jose, Calif.; his paternal grandmother, Nora T. Ingle of Union; and his maternal grandparents, John and Ferol Bell of Union.
The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Holt, 429 Pacolet St., Jonesville and at the home of his mother, Linda Gregory, 227 Old English Road, Union.

Henry Carlos White

MYRTLE BEACH- Henry Carlos White, 87, widower of Maude Cooper White, of 48th Avenue North, died Nov. 19, 1998 at his home.
Mr. White was born in Saluda on Nov. 3, 1911, and was a son of the late Eunice Sadler White and Luke Smith White, Sr. Mr. White moved to Myrtle Beach in 1933 from Saluda, where he was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was retired from Chapain Company.
Survivors include two brothers, Sam "Watson" White of Union and Tom C. White of Allendale; three sisters, Alice W. Craig of Greenwood, Mildred Redmond of Greensboro and Rilla Chisholm of Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. White was predeceased by two brothers, Pierce S. White and Luke Smith White, Jr.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7-8 at the funeral home.

Gaither Lemueal Stepp

Hendersonville, N.C.- Gaither Lemueal Stepp of Hendersonville, husband of Grace Revis Stepp died Nov. 20, 1998 at his home.
Mr. Stepp was a native of Henderson County and had lived in Union before moving back to Henderson in 1954. A son of the late R.G. Stepp and Dora Head Stepp, he was self-employed in the construction business and retired in 1970. He served in the United States Navy and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Donald Lee Revis of Asheville Robin Dale Stepp of Hendersonville and Glenn L. Stepp of Danridge, Tenn.; four daughters, Helen R. Ball, Janelle Heaton, Shirley S. Jones and Diane S. Braswell all of Hendersonville; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dot Young, Arletta Knox, Mildred Alexander, Vera Elrod, Estelle Dill all of Union; two brothers Asia Stepp and J.B. Stepp both of Union; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Memorials park by the Rev. Jerry Orr officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence following the service.

Funeral service for Caroline L. "Kay" Silvia Bennett, 62, of 127 Wildwood Lane, who died Jan. 28, 1999, were held at 11 a.m. today at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alan Quarles. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Gentry, Reuben Gentry, William Swofford, Bob Humphries, Charles A. Bennett and Paul McCutcheon.
The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends Sunday night from 7-9 and was placed in the church at 10 a.m. today to await the hour of service.

Mrs. John D. Gilbert, Sr.
ATLANTA, Ga.- Harriett Snipes Gilbert, 101, widow of John D. Gilbert, Sr. died Jan. 30, 1999.
Mrs. Gilbert was a native of Greenville, and made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Edgar Hauser in Atlanta. Mrs. Gilbert is also the mother of O.L. (Gus) Gilbert of Union, also surviving are six other children.
Funeral services and burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999 in Decatur, Ga.

Joseph (Sonny) Knox

Joseph Nathan (Sonny) Knox, 49, of 211 Culp St., husband of Sherry Prince Knox, died at this home Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 at 5:28 p.m. after an extended illness.
Mr. Knox was born in Union on June 5, 1949, a son of the late Elisha and Mary Lanier Knox. He was employed with Cone Mills, Carlisle Finishing Plant.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Tammy Wix and Michelle Gault both of Union; a son, Kevin Knox of Union; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Howard Johnson. Burial will be in the Lee Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ernest Matthews, Jerry Grady, Michael Crowder, Joey Faulks, Bobby Bolin and Larry Wynn.

William deBohun McBee

William deBohun McBee, 76, of 119 Highland Drive, husband of Carolyn Brown McBee, died Jan. 30, 1999, at 1:10 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital after several years of declining health.
Mr. McBee was born in Greenville on Aug. 8, 1922, a son of the late Luther and Mary Sprunt Wallace McBee. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. Mr. McBee was a graduate of Greenville High School and was a Class of 1944 graduate of Clemson College He was retired from Milliken & Company, Union Plants, as personnel director. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as major with the 3rd Army.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Louise McBee Ferguson of Rock Hill; a son, William deBohun McBee Jr., of Deland, Fla.; a brother, Roy Sprunt McBee of Columbia; a granddaughter and three grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity by Father Lennart Pearson. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Roy McBee Smith Jr., William McBee Smith, John Baarcke, Steve Willard, Roy Sprunt McBee Jr. and Thomas Stokes Adams III.
The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends Sunday afternoon from 2-4 and was placed in the church at 10 a.m. today to await the hour of service.

LOCKHART- Edith Rebecca Lawter Redmon, 52, wife of Harold Redmon of 308 North 3rd St., died Jan. 31, 1999 at 1:55 p.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Redmon was born in Lockhart on April 4, 1946, a daughter of the late Rev. A.F. Lawter and Connie Crowe Lawter. She was a member of the Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Connie Elizabeth Sealey of Okinawa, Japan; and four grandchildren.

Lonnie Rice, 51, of 407 West Henrietta St. died Jan. 28, 1999 at his home.
Mr. Rice was a native of Union County and was a son of Clara Mae Rice. He worked in textiles.
Surviving in addition to his mother are five brothers, Mack Arthur, James Edward, Robert Lee and Ernest Rice of Union and Douglas Rice of Charlotte, N.C.; five sisters, Catherine Norvella Jones, Janie Mae Goode, Barbara Ann and Susan Elizabeth Rice all of Union and Alice Ruth Rice of Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Gibson and Brown Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Paul Society Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Mack Arthur Rice, 315 S. Church St.

Carl L. Thompson, 53, husband of Brenda Ochiltree Thompson of 183 Ellis St., died at his home Jan. 30, 1999 after an extended illness.
Mr. Thompson was born in Union on June 22, 1945, a son of the late Barney Leland and Ella Juanita Smith Thompson. He was a Baptist, a member of the John A. Fant Masonic Lodge and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Mr. Thompson was formerly employed with Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing Plant.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lesa T. Nichols of Union; a grandson reared in the home, Mitchell Lee Parkins of Union; two other grandchildren, Andrew Nichols and Ashley Nichols both of Union; two sisters, Nancy T. Smith and Diane T. Lipsey both of Union; two nieces and a nephew, Wendy Harris, Beverly Carter and Ronnie Carter all of Union; and a sister-in-law, Ann O. Loyd of California.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Frank Inman and Rev. Jerry Lawson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

LOCKHART- Jacquelyn "Jackie" Dotson O'Dell, 64, wife of Otis O'Dell of Lockhart, died Oct. 6, 1999 at 8:10 p.m. in Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Mrs. O'Dell was born in Lockhart on Nov. 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Lester Garfield Dotson, Sr. and Viola Rash Dotson. She was an active member of Lockhart First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Church Choir and the W.M.U. Mrs. O'Dell was a graduate of Lockhart High School and the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg and was a retired Registered Nurse at Chester County Hospital.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, LuAnn O. Grant of Florida, Anita O. Montgomery of Lockhart and Patty O. Elliott of Myrtle Beach; a son, Larry O'Dell of Seneca; four sisters, Paige D. Smith of Florence, Emily D. Hefner of Lancaster, Niwana D. Cohen of Simi Valley, Calif. and Kathryn D. Broadwell of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy Dotson of Cheraw and Frankie Dotson of Jackson, Miss.; and six grandchildren, Brandie, Monica and Jessica Montgomery of Lockhart, Alyssa and Austin O'Dell of Seneca and MyKa Elliott of Myrtle Beach. Mrs. O'Dell was pre-deceased by a sister and three brothers, Dorothy Dotson, L.G., Ralph and Maxie Dotson.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Lockhart First Baptist Church by the Rev. Calvin Smith and Rev. John Mullis. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.
