Mrs. Redick was born August 18, 1918, in Summerville, S.C., the daughter of Russell Scott and Pearl Rhodes Scott. She was a member of the Salvation Army. She retired from Roper Hospital.

HAMPTON - Mrs. Gwendolyn Kearse Polk, 79, of 506 Ellis St. in Hampton, died Thursday evening in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Born October 11, 1922 in Hampton County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Kearse and Maggie Bishop Kearse. Mrs. Polk was a homemaker and was a member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Crocketville. She was the widow of the late William E. Polk.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, William Gerald and Caryl C. Polk of Hampton; one sister, Lucille K. Hiers of Columbia; 2 grandchildren, Sheryl P. Wilson of Simpsonville and W.G. (Jerry) Polk of Walterboro; 4 great-grandchildren, Lauren Paige Wilson, Andrew Michael Wilson, Ashlyn Kate Polk and Brandon Tyler Polk. She was predeceased by one brother, Warren Kearse.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Harmony Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Carolyn Matthews with burial following in the Crocketville Cemetery, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME of Hampton.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home and Saturday until 12 noon when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.
WILLIAMS, Drue
ALLENDALE - Miss Drue Williams died Thursday evening at University Hospital in Augusta after an extended illness. She was 81.
Miss Williams was born in Allendale County, July 4, 1920, a daughter of the late Norman Williams and Louise Locke Williams. Miss Williams retired from the Carolina Commercial Bank where she was Vice President and still serving on the Board of Directors. She was a member of the Allendale First Baptist Church where she was serving on the Budget Committee. Miss Williams also raised her four sisters after her parents passed away.
Surviving are 4 sisters: Mrs. Margaret Reece and Joyce Brewer both of Allendale. Mrs. Norma Lee Smith of Fairfax, Mrs. Helen Knopf of Jacksonville, Fla. There are 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Allendale First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Swallow Savannah Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allendale First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Black Solomon; two sons, Marshall G. Solomon, Jr. of Goose Creek, and Mark Steven Solomon of North Charleston, S.C.; one step-son, Joseph E. Holliday, Atlanta, Ga. and two step-daughters, Linda Stone of Summerville, S.C., Connie and her husband, Mike Lee of Charleston, S.C.; 7 grandchildren and one sister, Eva S. Sanders of Bloomington, Ind.

Mr. Vaughan was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on October 12, 1944, the son of Michael John and Avis Annabelle McCallum Vaughan. David J. Vaughan became an American Citizen in 1986 and promptly became a leader in the Republican Party. He was a precinct president and served two terms as State Executive Committeeman for Charleston County. Because of his political involvement he was presented the "Proudly We Hail" Leadership award by the Exchange Club of Charleston. David was a steadfast friend of the College of Charleston Soccer and an annual award given to the most loyal supporter, was established in his honor. He was the first recipient of the David Vaughan Friend of the Cougars Award in 2002. Mr. Vaughn was owner of Renovations by Vaughan and a member of Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
Surviving are his parents of Wainuiomata, New Zealand; his wife, Ellen Cole Vaughan, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one daughter, Renee Cole Lally of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Sharyn Eileen Pickard of Wainuiomata, New Zealand; one nephew, Scott Andrew Clayton of San Francisco, Calif., and one aunt, Ervene Hiers of Charleston, S.C.

LAKE CITY - Mr. Curtis Benjamin Hancock, 71, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mr. Hancock was born in Florence County, a son of the late Jessie Franklin and Armie Olive Kirby Hancock. He was the retired owner of Hancock Utilities, Inc., and a Mason member of Lake City Lodge #193 A.F.M. He was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Survivors include, his wife, Shelvia Godwin Hancock of Lake City; two sons, Wayne (Deanna P.) Hancock of Coward and Steve Hancock of Orangeburg; one brother, Doris Hancock of Lake City; one sister, Ernestine Coker of Lake City; three grandchildren, Curt Hancock, Chad Hancock and Haley Hancock, all of Coward; three brothers-in-law, Harry (Anne) Godwin of Georgetown, Donald (Janice) Godwin of Eva, Ala., and James L.
