Ms. Blocker was born on July 19, 1966, in Charleston, S.C., to James Edward Garvin, Jr., and Vickie A. Schmitt.
She is survived by her mother of Walterboro, her father of Charleston, a son, Mikey Rogers of Walterboro, three brothers, James Westley Garvin of Orangeburg, James E. "Boobie" Garvin, III, of Walterboro, Sean Edward Garvin and two sisters, Michelle Lynn Schmitt of Walterboro and Shannon Jean Garvin.

WALTERBORO - Mr. Edwin C. "Ed" Harriott, 87, of 61 Lemon Road, died Monday at Colleton Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, at First Baptist Church of Walterboro, with Dr. W. Steven Brown and Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, directed by the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Harriott was born in Brunson, a son of the late Nick Clark Harriott and Annie Sullivan Harriott. He was the retired owner of Southland Restaurant and was a member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro, where he was a member of the F.B. Thomas Sunday School Class. He was a member of Unity #55 Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Omar Shrine Temple, where he was a former member of the Provost Guard, and a member of the Coastal Shrine Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mae Horton Harriott, two daughters, Gerry Huth of Raleigh, N.C., and Suzanne Edwards of Houston, Texas, a son, Nicky Harriott of Walterboro, a brother, Willis Harriott of Savannah, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Grady Foster Brown, 74, of Moncks Corner, a retired supply clerk with the International Paper Company, died Sunday at a Moncks Corner hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born June 1, 1927 at Horry County, S.C., a son of Matthew L. Brown and Jane Rabon Brown. He was a graduate of Conway High School. He was a Merchant Marine veteran. He was a member of Hood's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Shaw Brown of Moncks Corner; three sons, Jerry Grady Brown of Lynchburg, Va.; J. Leonard Brown of Florence; Steve D. Brown of Greenville; daughter, Joyce Brown Shelley of Conway; two stepsons, Jeff Davis and Skyler Stum both of Moncks Corner; two sisters, Earline B. Phipps of Indian Trail, North Carolina; Viena B. Hughes of Myrtle Beach; eight grandchildren; one great grandson.

RICHARDSON, Joyce
GEORGETOWN - Joyce Harrelson Richardson, 53, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Mullins on November 30, 1948, a daughter of the late Thomas Edgar Harrelson and Estalene Causey Harrelson. She grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Winyah High School. Mrs. Richardson lived in a number of states prior to moving back to Georgetown 14 years ago. She was a former director of Early Childhood Development Programs in Hawaii and Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Richardson was a member of the Georgetown Community Church.
Surviving are her husband, Charles "Chuck" M. Richardson of Georgetown; a son, Charles "Chuck, Jr." M. Richardson, III, and his wife Shelly K. of Georgetown; three sisters, Patsy Ann H. Cribb and Suzie H. Nesbitt, both of Georgetown and Lula Ann H. Altman of Summerville; her step-mother, Almina Bednego Harrelson Owens of Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2002, at 2 o'clock in the Georgetown Community Church. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Daigle and the Rev. Geraldine Bednego. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.

LeROY, M.D., Carwile
E. Carwile LeRoy, M.D., Distinguished Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, died May 16, 2002, in Ancona, Italy after a brief illness.
Born January 19, 1933 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Dr. LeRoy attended Wake Forest College from which he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1955. After earning M.S. and M.D. degrees with honors from the University of North Carolina in 1960, he trained at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and held a Fellowship in Arthritis in the Department of Medicine of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He became Director of the William Daniels Faulkner Arthritis Clinic of that institution in 1969, a position he held until moving to the Medical University of South Carolina in 1975.
Internationally recognized for his research in the field of rheumatology and specifically the disease scleroderma, Dr. LeRoy earned academic honors and provided leadership and counsel to a number of clinical and research organizations. He was on the Board of Directors of the American College of Rheumatology, President of the National Society of Clinical Rheumatology, and Chairman of the Medical Advisory of the Scleroderma Federation. He served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Connective Tissue Diseases, the International Journal of Immunotherapy, and Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology, as well as on study sections for the National Institute of Health. He was a Master of the American College of Rheumatology and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
He authored 270 papers in professional journals, reviews, and books, among them major textbooks of medicine and rheumatology. He was noted for his seminal contributions to the understanding of the pathenogenesis of systemic sclerosis (scleroderma).
Dr. LeRoy was a member of the Medical University faculty for over a quarter of a century. During his years at MUSC, he was Director of the Division of Rheumatology, Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Chairman of Microbiology and Immunology. Recognizing his many contributions to medicine, MUSC bestowed its highest faculty honor, Distinguished University Professor, upon him in 2000.
He was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church and Yeamans Hall Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Hughes LeRoy of Charleston, a daughter, DeFord LeRoy Davis of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, a son, Dr. Edward Carwile LeRoy, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, a brother, John Henry LeRoy, III, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place Sunday, May 26, at 2:00 P.M. at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Burial will be Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 11 A.M. in Old Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Autoimmune Disease Research Fund of the Health Sciences Foundation of MUSC, the Loyalty Fund of University of North Carolina School of Medicine, or the Crisis Ministries of Charleston.
