Vera Brown Yarnell, 86, of Hanahan, widow of James Charles Yarnell, died Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Heartland Healthcare Center.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 11 o'clock in Folly Beach United Methodist Church, 118 West Indian Avenue, Folly Beach. Burial will be private.
Friends may call at the church from 10 o'clock until the hour of service on Saturday.
Mrs. Yarnell was born on March 18, 1916 in Yadkinville, N.C., a daughter of the late James Richard Brown and Annie Fiemster Brown. She was a graduate of North Carolina and Tennessee schools. She was a retired City Clerk for the town of Folly Beach for 20 years. She was a Charter Member of Folly Beach United Methodist Church.
Survivors are two sons, James C. Yarnell, Jr. of Charleston, Richard E. "Chip" Yarnell of Hilton Head; one daughter, Martha Faye Crosby of James Island; four grandchildren, Stacey Mullane of Azle, Tex., CW Carter of North Charleston, James C. Carter of Ladson, Michael Crosby of James Island; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Mullane, Allison Carter.

Mr. Turner died May 21, 2002, in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late Lila Ellison Turner and Gelola Marion Turner. He attended Clemson College, and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Dillon Main Street United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Charles Wesley Choir for over 50 years.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marguerite Phillips Turner; daughters, Jeannine Turner of Woodbridge, Va., Anne Chapman and her husband, Edward of Wells, Vt., Gwendolyn Turner of Fayetteville, N.C., and Lila McDermott and her husband, David of Dickerson, Md.; sister, Beverly Turner of Augusta, Ga.; brother, Ellison Turner of St. Simons Island, Ga.; grandson, Nolan McDermott; granddaughter, Lila "Maddie" McDermott.

SANDERSON, Grover H.
WALTERBORO - Mr. Grover H. "Sandy" Sanderson, Jr., 76, of 434 Cumberland Street, died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, at the Chapel of Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Sanderson was born in Mildred, Texas, a son of the late Grover H. Sanderson, Sr., and Anna Bell Sanderson. He was the retired owner of Sandy's Mobile Homes and was a former salesman for Walterboro Mobile Homes. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, and was a member of the Walterboro Moose Lodge, where he was the first Governor of the Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion and retired as a Sergeant after 20 years with the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Dorris Woodside Sanderson, a daughter, Lynn Tuten of Walterboro, a son, Raymond "Buddy" Sanderson of Honea Path, four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Sarah Cornelia Newell Sheppard, 82, died in Chesapeake, Va. on May 20, 2002. Mrs. Sheppard was born in Florence County, S.C., a daughter of Ebenezer B. Newell and Hester Dennis Newell. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Hemingway, S.C. and attended church at Good Hope United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, Va. She formerly lived in Moncks Corner, S.C., and was predeceased by husbands, John O. Ayers and Julian L. Sheppard. She is survived by daughter, Marilyn Ayers Hurr, and step-daughters, Julia Ann Daniel and Mary Faye Brown; a sister, Lillian Hanna; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Garden of Devotion Cemetery in Hemingway, S.C. on Friday 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22nd at Twiford Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Va. SMOAKS - Mrs. Azalee C. Jeffcoat, 81 years of age, of 4193 Beulah Rd. died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Mrs. Jeffcoat was born in Lexington Co., a daughter of the late Stancil Jeffcoat and Sally Jeffcoat and she was the widow of the late Lucious Jeffcoat. She was retired from Utica Tool in Orangeburg, a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Gaston, and made her home in Smoaks for the past 26 years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Baptist in Gaston by the Rev. Tom Kling with burial in the church yard. Casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Legrande Jeffcoat, Tony Jeffcoat, Ernie Hughes, Todd Rickenbaker, Bucky Jeffcoat, and Tim Barrs.
Survived by two sons, Mr. Mickey Jeffcoat of Smoaks, and Mr. Jerry Jeffcoat of Gatson, one daughter, Mrs. Janet Padgett of Smoaks, one brother, Mr. James Jeffcoat of Gaston and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
