AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. George A. Cook will be held Sunday, May 26, 2002 at 2 PM at George Funeral Homes, Inc., Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, with Rev. Leo Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neley Siegler, Tony Corley, Gene Morgan, Kenny Williams, Clarence Shealy, and George Raborn, Jr. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 25, 2002 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Cook, 59, of Aiken, SC, husband of Mrs. Alberta Austin Cook, died Thursday, night, May 23, 2002 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, he was a son of the late Albert Otto Cook and the late Ethel Lucile Coker Cook. George had been a metal fabricator with OMC for fourteen years prior to his health declining and was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and music.
Surviving are his wife Mrs. Alberta Cook, sons, Daniel George Cook and Albert Otto Cook, both of Aiken, SC; daughters, Celena Grace Cook Snipes, Aiken, SC, Teresa M. Bunch, Holly Hill, SC, Cynthia A. George, Walterboro, SC, Sharon E. Murray, Aiken, SC; Loretta A. Beckett, Aiken, SC, and Karen D. Urbano, Aiken, SC; devoted brother, James R. Cook and his fiancée, Joan, Aiken, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert E. Austin, Walterboro, SC, Lurline E. Bunch, Holly Hill, SC, Jeanie L. Overlock, Summerville, SC, Raymond L. Austin, Ridgeville, SC, Ernie R. Austin, California, Julia M. Martin, Aynor, SC, Nellie W. Heape, Cross, SC, and Wilbur L. Surviving are her two sons, M. Joel Bateman of Charleston, S.C., and Ashton S. Bateman, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Milton F. Nelson of Charleston, S.C.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dr. Seymour was born February 2, 1925, in Charleston, S.C., son of William Quitman Seymour and Elizabeth Williams Seymour. Dr. Seymour was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul. Dr. Seymour was a U.S. Navy W.W.II Veteran and a graduate of Medical University of S.C. He was retired from the Medical University of S.C. as a Student Health Physician.
He is survived by his wife Frances Cannon Seymour of Charleston, S.C., and Brother Dr. E. Quitman Seymour of Charleston, S.C.

MERSEREAU, Wilder
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Wilder (Bill) Bryant Mersereau, 90, died Friday, May 17, 2002.
Born September 3, 1911, in New York City, N.Y., to Jones Warren Wilder and Edith Bryant Mersereau, he was a 1933 graduate of Amherst College receiving his BA in English and History, cum laude.
Mr. Mersereau, a W.W.II veteran, was a Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps serving from 1942 to 1946 with the 73rd Bomb Wing, 20th Air Force, earning three Campaign Stars.
A Resident of Chapel Hill since 1994, he retired from the Home Insurance Company, Fire and Casualty Administration in New York City, N.Y., in 1976 and the U.S. Census Bureau in 1980. Mr. Mersereau was a longtime member of Glen Rock (New Jersey) Community Church, and the Glen Rock Activities Club, as well as a volunteer with Community Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Suzanne Herbert Mersereau; son, Warren Wilder Mersereau and wife, Nancy Muller; son, Jon Abbott Mersereau and wife Cindy, all of Charleston, S.C.; his brother, J. Warren Mersereau, of Parlin, N.J.; cousin, E. Claire Hardy of Chapel Hill. Also surviving are grandchildren, Bryant Garrison Mersereau and Davis Grayson Mersereau, Sharon Mersereau Snook and Private William Cullen Bryant Mersereau; step-grandchildren, Michael P. Smith and Amy M. Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Kelsey Lynn Snook.
A memorial service is scheduled for June 2, 2002, at 2 p.m., at Carolina Meadows in Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
