WILLIS, Clarence
JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. - Clarence Edward Willis, 77, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in a Florence hospital.
Mr. Willis was born in Johnsonville, a son of the late Clarence D. Willis and the late Evelyn Johnson Willis. He was retired from the International Paper Co. and a retired farmer, a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W.II, a member of the William "Ed" Hill American Legion Post #84, a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, and was a graduate of Johnsonville High School class of 1942.
He was married to the late Belvagene Wilson Willis.
Surviving are four sons, Francis "Frank" R. (Darlene) Willis of Marion, S.C., Wilson Willis, Thomas Willis, and James (Hope) Willis all of Johnsonville; brother, Randolph E. (Emily) Willis of Johnsonville; sister, Virginia (Braxton) Lovett of Indiantown, S.C.; four grandchildren.
Mr. Willis was pre-deceased by a brother, Walter Willis and sister, Caroline Fowler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME OF HEMINGWAY, will be in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery.

PINSON, Sr., Robert
SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. - Robert L. Pinson, Sr., age 84, of South Bay Lakes died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born November 3, 1917, in Greenville, S.C., a son of the late Mary Julia Sewing and John Lucius Pension. Mr. Pinson was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served as the Crew Chief for the 343rd Squadron, 55th Fighter Group in England during W.W.II. He is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8980 and a former member of Council 5810 where he served as District Deputy. He was a member of VFW Post 10420, and Elks Lodge 1771. Mr. Pinson was an avid golfer, formerly serving as president of Myrtlewood Golf Course Men's Group and he started Raccoon Run Mens Club. He was the co-founder and former president of the Intercoastal Seniors Golf Association.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Lavenia Griffith Pinson, five sons, Robert L. Pinson, Jr., and wife, Cheryl of Avondale, Pa., Michael A. Pinson and wife, Becky of Jacksonville, Fla., Stanley F. Pinson and wife Janice of Brevard, N.C., Joseph B. Pinson of Brevard, N.C., and John G. Pinson of Surfside Beach, S.C.; three daughters, Mary Alice Thomas and husband, James of Monroe, N.C., Cindy Goldston O'Niell and husband, Shawn of Surfside Beach, S.C., Margaret A. Smith and husband, Larry of Greer, S.C., a sister, Frances Pinson Lloyd of Greenville, S.C.; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, BEACH CHAPEL, with a prayer vigil at 6 p.m.
