Entered into eternal rest on May 22, 2002, Dorothy "Dolly" Linker Sander. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Friday, May 31, at 1 o'clock. Private burial services will be conducted later in Washington State.
Mrs. Sander was born September 20, 1942, in Chapel Hill, N.C., the daughter of Robert White Linker and Dorothy Insley Linker.
She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her master's degree in English from Washington State University and a law degree from the University of Idaho. She was an attorney and member of the Bar in Idaho, Washington, and Wisconsin, and the U.S. Patent Bar. She was former president of Elaine's of Charleston, Inc.
She is survived by her mother of Athens, Ga.; one daughter, Anna Christina Sander of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Thomas Polk Linker of Austin, Texas.

Mrs. Quick was born September 11, 1902, in Bordeaux, S.C., the daughter of Albert Cade and Allen Moragne Cade. She attended Lander College in Greenville, S.C.
She is survived by one son, Boyce Quick of James Island, S.C.; three grandsons, Fred Quick, Albert Quick and Guil McIntosh; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Barbara May Gawrych, 69, the wife of Joseph F. Gawrych, died at her home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., on May 27, 2002. Born in Charleston, S.C., she was the daughter of James W. Wallace, Jr. and Julia Howell Wallace. A secretary and housewife, Mrs. Gawrych graduated from Bishop England High School in Charleston. She was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by four sons: Michael E. Gawrych, Sullivan's Island, S.C.; Steven W., Paul S. and Bryan J. Gawrych of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and one daughter, Kathryn G. COTTAGEVILLE - Pearl Elizabeth Middleton, 91, of Cottageville, S.C. and widow of Rev. Paul J. Middleton, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Walterboro.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, in Calvary Baptist Church, Round O, S.C. Burial will be in Sanders Cemetery.
Mrs. Middleton was born in Round O, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Julius Caesar Sanders and Rosa Lee Edwards.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as an usher, deaconess and secretary.
Surviving are: seven daughters, Rena B. GEORGETOWN - Alice M. Skipper, 81, widow of Herbert M. Skipper, Sr., died Monday, May 27, 2002 in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Nelson and Rev. Themos Cribb. Burial, directed by GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
She was born January 26, 1921 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Daniel E. Moore and Nettie Norris Moore.
She was a retired housekeeping supervisor with Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church and also a member of the Bible Class. She enjoyed gardening and cooking as her hobbies.
Surviving are: one son, H. McRoy Skipper, Jr. and his wife Jo of Georgetown; one daughter Marilyn S. Thompkins and her husband Robert M. Thompkins of Georgetown; a daughter-in-law, Patsy B. Skipper of Murrells Inlet; six grandsons, Mitch Thompkins and his wife Jamie W., Gregory M. Thompkins and his wife Renee Y., Kenneth M. Skipper and his wife Suzy R., Kevin S. Thompkins and his wife Denise B., and Steven G. Skipper all of Georgetown and Richard E. Skipper and his wife Kim H. of Florence; eight great-grandchildren, Meredith Thompkins, Mallory Thompkins, Gregory Thompkins, Nicholas Thompkins, Phillip Skipper, Anna Grace Skipper, Grant Skipper, Adam Skipper; one sister, Thelma M. Joyner of Conway and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Earl F. Skipper.

TROXELL, Joseph
Joseph M. Troxell, 95, of the Presbyterian Home of S.C. in Summerville, died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at a local hospital.
A native of Carmel, N.Y., Mr. Troxell graduated from New York University and received a Masters of Art degree from Columbia University Teachers College. After teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Kent Cliffs, N.Y., he became a teacher in East Orange, N.J. In 1944, he accepted a position as head of the language department at the Escola Tecnica de Aviacao in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Four years later he was named Superintendent of the American Elementary and High School in Sao Paulo, where he remained until 1960.
Following a four-year assignment as director of the InterAmerican Schools Service of the American Council on Education in Washington, D.C., Mr. Troxell moved to Charleston, S.C. in 1960 as Headmaster of the College Preparatory School.
His wife, Charlotte Buell, and first daughter, Nancy Jo Harrison were deceased in 1989. He is survived by his second daughter, Aracy Troxell Winter; his sons-in-law, Klaus Winter and Richard C. Harrison, III; two grandchildren, Richard C. Harrison, IV and Eleanor Josephine Harrison; and beloved friend, Helen Richardson.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel in the Presbyterian Home of Summerville. JARRELL, Sr., Raiford
METTER, GA. - Mr. Raiford E. Jarrell, Sr., 78, died Tuesday at Metter Nursing Home. The Taylor Co. native lived here for the past 38 years moving from Bibb Co. He worked with Warren Peanut Co., was a Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist. He was the widower of Zona Lee Jarrell.
He is survived by three sons, Gary and Randall Jarrell both of Metter and Raiford Jarrell of Walterboro; two sisters, Bess Widham of Fairburn and Grace Hicks of Perry; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at KENNEDY-MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, HOOKS CHAPEL, with burial in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.

GRUPY, Marguerite
BRANCHVILLE - Mrs. Marguerite Street Grupy, 84 years of age, of 221 Carpenter St., died Monday, May 27, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Mrs. Grupy was born in Branchville, a daughter of the late John Calhoun Street, Sr. and Anna Louise Westberry, and she was the widow of the late Robert T. Grupy. Mrs. Grupy was a graduate of Branchville High School. She was employed in Washington, D.C. during WWII. She met and married her husband and they settled in New Jersey, where for many years she was a Deaconess in the Presbyterian Church. In 1966, they moved to Branchville, where she was active in the Branchville United Methodist Church Choir, Sunday School, and United Methodist Women.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday May 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, by the Rev. Mike Smith, with burial in the Ott Cemetery in Branchville.
Survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Libby Street and Mrs. Janet Street, one brother-in-law Earle Manning, and a number of loving nieces and nephews.

SAUNDERS, Dero
Dero Ames Saunders, 88, died May 22 in Charleston, SC, where he had lived for the past two years after moving from New York City. A veteran financial writer for Fortune and Forbes magazines, he also edited works by Edward Gibbon and Theodor Mommsen. He was born in Starkville, MS and received a B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1935 and a M.A. from Columbia University in 1937. During WWII he served in the State Department and afterward joined Fortune magazine. He moved to Forbes in 1960, serving as executive editor and in other capacities until 1998. Forbes editor emeritus James Michaels said, "When we were stumped for an historical anecdote or an appropriate quote to make a story come alive, Dero came through. More than anyone I’ve known, he could put a business story into broad perspective." Many of the young reporters he hired and nurtured rose to prominence. He also served as chairman of Dartmouth’s alumni magazine editorial board and Alumni Council. He was proudest ofThe Portable Gibbon, a 1951 edition ofThe Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, in print for 40 years. Preceded in death by his son Dr. David N. Saunders, he is survived by his wife Beatrice Nair Saunders; his son Dr. Richard A. Saunders, a Charleston resident since 1978; two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Born March 6, 1927, in Summerville, S.C., Mr. Davis was the son of the late Corbett D. and Wilhelmina H. Davis. He was a Baptist, a Navy veteran of W.W.II, and a Mason. Corbett was a loving provider, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Surviving Mr. Davis are five sons, Edward J. Davis of Columbus, Ga., Richard C. Davis of Raeford, N.C., C. Mark Davis of Summerville, D. Timothy Davis of Greenville, N.C., and R. Chris Davis of Charleston; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving Mr. Davis is a sister, Shirley D. Graham of Goose Creek and her children, Alfred Flynn, Michael Flynn and Patricia Hankins.

Mrs. Crenshaw was born November 29, 1936, in Benham, Ky., a daughter of the late Silas Schultz Harrell and Kathryn White Harrell. Mrs. Crenshaw was a real estate agent and had served as a Naval Ombudsman and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband of Goose Creek, S.C.; three sons, William S. Crenshaw of Pascagoula, Ms., James "Kevin" Crenshaw of Goose Creek, S.C., Mark M. Crenshaw of Jedburg, S.C.; two daughters, Kathryn C. Capps and Patty Crenshaw both of Goose Creek, S.C., as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Born May 10, 1902, in Norway, S.C., Ms. King was the daughter of the late Peter E. and Rachel Young Gibson. She was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and a former member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church.
Surviving Ms. King are her daughter, Frances W. Bohler and her husband, Douglas of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; son-in-law, Robert Carnes, Sr., of N. Charleston; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Louise W. Carnes.
POTTER, Virginia
ASHEVILLE- Virginia Zeigler Potter, 87, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Mission St. Joseph's Health System.
She lived much of her life in Charleston, S.C., and more recently at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community. She was born in Columbia, S.C., the daughter of Virginia Elfe and John A. Zeigler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard M. Potter, and sister, Marguerite Williams.
She is survived by two brothers, John A. Zeigler of Columbia, S.C.; and William B. Zeigler of Columbia, S.C., three sons, John R. Potter of Panama City Beach, Fla., Richard M. Potter Jr. of Black Mountain and William Z. Potter of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was employed with the Department of the interior, Washington, D.C., before her marriage. She and her husband lived in Ridgeville, Ind., for 14 years, where he practiced medicine. She received a bachelor's degree from Ball State University and a master's degree in library science from Indiana University. She managed the West Ashley branch of the Charleston Public Library and was a member of the Charleston Symphony League, Charleston Museum, Gibbs Museum of Art and the Indiana University Alumni Association.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Deerfield's St. Giles Chapel. 1617 Hendersonville Road, Asheville. She will be interred beside her husband in Ridgeville, Ind.
