Barbara May Gawrych, 69, the wife of Joseph F. Gawrych, died at her home in Mt. Pleasant on May 27, 2002. Born in Charleston, she was the daughter of James W. Wallace, Jr. and Julia Howell Wallace. A secretary and housewife, Mrs. Gawrych graduated from Bishop England High School. She was a member of Christ Our King Church. She is survived by four sons: Michael E. Gawrych, Sullivan's Island, Steven W., Paul S. and Bryan J. Gawrych of Mt. Pleasant, and one daughter, Kathryn G. Gilden, Chester; three grandsons, and five granddaughters. Mrs. Margaret Louise Brinker died Monday, May 27, 2002 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 o'clock in Bethany Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Bill Davis officiating.
A native of Buena Vista, GA, Mrs. Brinker had lived in Albany, GA since 1997, moving there from Charleston. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and served in the Women's Army Air Corps during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion, Elks Auxiliary and Woodmen of the World. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Brinker.
Survivors include her son Lawrence Brinker and his wife Marmy of Saratoga Springs, NY; 3 sisters: Carrie Barton of Lake City, FL, Virginia Sanderson of Albany, GA and Shirley Ledbetter of Brooks County, GA; one brother: Joseph Wood if Albany, GA; 2 grandsons: Mathew R. Taylor of Wilmington, NC and Lance Cpl. Christopher L. Brinker, USMC.
