Elaine Simmons, 50, a registered nurse, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Jacksonboro.
The funeral will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Nazarene Baptist Church, Ravenel. Burial will be directed by HAMILTON'S FUNERAL HOME in Mitchell's Cemetery in Parkers Ferry.
Elaine Simmons was born in Jacksonboro, a daughter of the late Oliver Mixon, Sr., and Sadie Bell Mixon. She was a member of Nazarene Baptist Church where she served as an usher.
She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and a 1970 graduate of Colleton High School. She received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Charleston Southern University. She was employed by Colleton Medical Center as a registered nurse.
Survivors are, her husband, Harris Lee Simmons, Sr.; two sons, Harris Lee Simmons, Jr., and Travis Delaney Simmons, all of Charleston; a step-daughter, Tamika Baker of Lyman; three sisters, Annie L. Cox of Manhattan, N.Y., Esther Daniels of Walterboro and Roslyn Bowens of Jacksonboro; four brothers, Harry Lee Mixon of Miami, Fla., Robert Mixon of Chester, Oliver Mixon, Jr., and Willie Mixon of Jacksonboro; and a father-in-law, Moses Frasier of Charleston.
MILLER, Ruth
Ruth Landon Brown Miller, 85, of Orange, N.J. Widow of Robert Miller. Died May 29, 2002, at St. Mary's Life Center of Orange, N.J. Survivors include her son Robert J. Brown of Summerville, S.C. Daughter Jean Clark of Herndon, Va. Five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

ENZ, Sally
LURAY - Mrs. Sally (Betty) Elizabeth Enz, 76, widow of the late Robert E. Enz, of 155 Society St., Luray, died Wednesday in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Enz was born March 24, 1926, in Hampton County, the daughter of the late John DeWitt and Anna Long DeWitt. She was a homemaker and a member of the Luray Christian Church where she was active in many church services.
Surviving are a son, John Bunn of Bricktown, N.J., a daughter Frankie Walters of Tolland, Conn., a sister Stella D. Johnson of Luray. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME OF HAMPTON with burial in the Nixville Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Noel Cooper and the Rev. Jack Diamond. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

SCARPA, Dorothy
Dorothy Cottingham Scarpa, wife of the late Edward Anderson Scarpa, former Bank Official of S.C. National Bank, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Oak Haven Assisted Living Center of Charleston. Mrs. Scarpa was born in Bingham, S.C. on September 2, 1906. She was the daughter of John Stewart Cottingham and Emma Ellis Cottingham.
Mrs. Scarpa was a registered nurse and graduated from Baker Sanatorium Hospital of Charleston, S.C. Her last employment was with Florence Crittenton Home. She was an avid antique collector and enjoyed all types of handwork. She was a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society of Charleston, the Garden Club of Charleston and First Baptist Church of Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons: Jane Scarpa Hamrick of Charleston, S.C. and her husband John Asa Hamrick, Edward Anderson Scarpa, Jr. of Sullivan's Island, S.C. and his wife Carolyn Farmer, Paul Ellis Scarpa of Travelers Rest, S.C. and his wife Sandra Scruggs, Dorothy Scarpa Fitzhenry of Summerville, S.C. and her husband Charles Michael Fitzhenry. One sister, Mrs. Lottie C. Parham of Bennettsville, S.C. Her nine grandchildren include: Mary Nance Ezell McDonough, Carol Jane Ezell-Gilson, Edward Anderson Scarpa, III, Celeste Scarpa Dean, Alyse Scarpa Cox, Seth Anderson Scarpa, Elizabeth Alexander Scarpa, Mary-Margaret Stuart Fitzhenry, Charles Michael Fitzhenry, II. Two step-grandchildren: Margaret H. Hollingsworth and John A. Hamrick, Jr. She leaves 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Charleston at 4 o'clock. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will follow at Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Christopher Joseph Cahill, 21, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Greenville, SC. Christopher was born May 21, 1981 in Charleston, the son of Rev. Mr. Joseph Francis Cahill and Catherine Hudson Cahill of Mount Pleasant, SC. He was a rising senior at Furman University, a proud member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a member of the Philosophy Club, an avid golfer, and enjoyed water sports. He was a graduate of the first graduating class of the new Bishop England High School in 1999, and a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest M. Hudson, Jr. and his paternal grandfather Joseph F. Cahill. Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandmother Mrs. Ellen T. Cahill of Mount Pleasant, SC; and aunts and uncles: Mary Louise Hudson, Isle of Palms, SC; Elizabeth Ann (Larry) Schmitt, Bath, NC; Forrest M. Hudson (Cecelia), New Barn, NC; Karen H.
