Mrs. Angela Rita Mayer, a committed Christian was taken by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into His presence, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. She was 93. born in Baltimore, Maryland, February 16, 1914, Mrs. Mayer was a daughter of the late Frank Edward Poffel and Agnes Gertrude Augustiniak Poffel. She had retired as a Registered Nurse having worked in Maryland, Indiana, and Florida. She was a resident of National Heath Care of Anderson for several years where she received loving and excellent care by all the staff. She was a member of Living Water Church, 835 New Hope Road, Anderson, SC. Mrs. Mayer is survived by her daughters, Reverend Dr. Darla Lee Wisler and her husband, Norman of Anderson, SC, Lana Mae Turner of Seminole, FL, and Donna Jean Werstler and her husband Michael of Larwill, IN; one brother Milton Francis Poffel of Littleton, CO; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her husband, Sydney Mayer, a brother Edmond Francis Poffel and a son-in-law, Jack Turner, Sr, predeceased her. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 2:00pm at Living Water Church officiated by her daughter Rev. Dr. Darla Wisler. The inurnment will take place at a later date in the Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Largo, FL. She was a homemaker. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home, is a son, Craig Lollis and daughters, Angela Gilliard and husband, Alvin of Anderson and Kimberly Trusty, also of Anderson; one sister of Greenville; a brother, Marshall Mitchell of Anderson; five grandchildren, Shanise Adams, Travis Lollis, Quinteze White, Antonio Lollis and Michael Lollis, all of Anderson and three great-grandchildren, Jazmone and Ashia Adams and Cameron White. ANDERSON - Levis Dean Erwin, 68, of 3203 Wright School Road, husband of Lynda Clark Erwin, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center. born April 25, 1939 in Anderson County, he was the son of Claudia Lorene Elgin Erwin of Starr and the late Forest Erwin. He was the owner of Plaza Laundry of Calhoun Falls and Commercial Laundry Service and Repair. He was also employed by Service Laundry, Inc. of Belton for several years and was employed by Starr Mill for ten years prior to closing. Mr. Erwin was a member of Asaville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon in previous years. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a sister-in-law, Selwyn Clark of Anderson; two brothers, Mark Erwin and wife, Kay of Anderson and Michael Erwin and wife, Kathie of Pendleton; one sister, Claudia Joanne Shiflet and husband, Jay of Starr; two nephews, five nieces, one great nephew and four great nieces, all of Anderson County. He was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony David and Benjamin Levis Erwin. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Asaville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Harold Walters. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard (SPAR) and was a retired convenience store owner. She attended the Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by a sister, Hazel Welsh of Anderson; adopted daughters, Linda King of Gaston, SC and Annie Ruth Powell of Anderson; niece, Charlene Thomason of Anderson; nephew, Stephen Welsh of Plantation, FL; numerous great nieces and great nephews also survive. Mrs. Strauss graduated from Antreville High School, Furman University (BA), and Clemson University Graduate School, (MEd). She attended Columbia Bible College. She served as a missionary in the Dominican Republic with the West Indies Mission and was a retired librarian from Dixie High School, Due West, SC. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Sam E. Strauss, Jr.; two sons, Dr. Kenneth W. Strauss of Brussels, Belgium, Dr. Robert M. Strauss of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Kathryn Wilcox of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Truman McConnell of Anderson and Ray McConnell of Iva; two sisters, Dorothy Albea of Chesapeake, VA and Sara Higginbotham of Iva. She was the daughter of the late James and Bessie Bell McConnell of Antreville, SC. She was preceded in death by five brothers, J. C. She was a longtime member of the Anderson County Republican Women's Club and a member of the National Parliamentarian, Nenstiel Unit. She was a life long Lutheran and a member Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, Richard L. Yarborough of the home; daughters: Patsy B. Peppers and her husband, Walter of Lawrenceville, GA, Cathy Appner and her husband, Mitch of Burnsville, NC, and son, Edward R. Brazell and his wife Brenda of Columbia; three grandchildren: Benjamin Moseley of Aiken, Melissa G. Bisset of Hawaii, and Travis Brazell of Irmo; three great grandchildren; brothers: Walter Sons of West Columbia, James Sons of Columbia, Fred, George, and Donnie Sons all of Lexington and sisters: Margie Carter, Mary Green, Ruth Koon and Ann Watkins all of Lexington. born in Barnwell County, she was a daughter of the late Solomon John Keel and Belle Hair Keel. Family, friends and loved ones affectionately knew her as “Mimi”. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She formerly employed with Singer Sewing Machine store in Barnwell for many years and the US Post Office in Elko, SC. She also served as the pianist for Elko Baptist Church and several area community churches. She was a member of Elko Baptist Church and the Clara Hitt Sunday School. She always held a deep concern for those serving in our mission fields here and abroad.

born in Cullman County, AL, he was a son of Blanche Wolfe Wakefield and the late William Belton Wakefield. He was a deacon and member of Williston First Baptist Church having served in various capacities within the church until his health declined. Mr. Wakefield attended USC-A and Aiken Technical College. He was a safety engineer at SRP and retired from Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF). He was a member of The Williston Lions Club where he held various offices over the years, was Lion of the Year in 1973 and was a member of the US Army Reserve, Williston Unit. Mr. Wakefield was a big fan and supporter of the Williston-Elko Blue Devils and was an avid fisherman on the Edisto River.

She was a seamstress for the Palm Beach Company, co-owned and operated Ross Restaurant in Blackville for a number of years and was a sales clerk at Stafford’s Department Store.
Survivors include sons, Stanley (Linda) Ross of Blackville, Bill (Jenny) Ross of Lexington, son-in-law, Burl Fauchier of Barnwell, sister-in-law, Minnie Rosier Hallman, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Survivors include his sons, Robert (Elsie) Yoder, Harry Edward Yoder; daughters, Anna (Mose) Kaufman, Ruth (Godofredo) Cruz, Miriam (Kore) Yoder; brother, Wayne Yoder; sister, Susie Miller; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
