Funeral service for Carol Sinclair Price, 72, of Lugoff, was held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach Church with burial to follow in Lugoff First Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Price died Friday, January 13, 2012. born in Camden, he was the son of the late James Edward and Bernice Holland Price. He served in the United States National Guard. He retired from DuPont after 28 years and Dana Corporation after 12 years. He also drove cars for local dealerships.
Mr. Price was a dedicated member of New Life Christian Outreach Church where he served as sound technician for over 28 years. He enjoyed cars and was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Barbara Keenan Price; sons, Brian Price (Jennifer) of Lugoff, and James W. Barfield II (Christi) of Winter Haven, Fla.; daughter, Cynthia B. Langley (Hal) of Camden; sister, Joyce Branham of Columbia; grandchildren, Brianna N. Price, Mikayla Price, Katie McLemore, Daniel McLemore, Michael McLemore, Josh Barfield, and James Barfield III; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Ida Bell Patterson, 72, of Elkwood Lane, Camden, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 25, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Hester Mae Clark Patterson.

Mrs. Anderson was first married
to the late William R. "Buddy" Denton, JR, then later to the late Malcolm Fletcher Anderson, SR, . She died Monday, January 16, 2012. born in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Rufus and Annie Faulkner Pickell. Mrs. Anderson was a very active member of First Baptist Church for 80+ years and was a retired beautician.
Surviving are her sons, Bill Denton (Kate), Andy Denton (Sue), Joe Denton, DVM (Ann) grandchildren, Karen Strayer (Scott), Scott Denton (Carrie), Amy Clark (Joel), Josh Denton (Chesnut) and Mose Denton (Ashley); step-son Mac Anderson, Jr., step-daughter, Janet A. "Jan" Shumate (Tommy); 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Mrs. Lee, wife of Clarence LaVerne Lee, died Monday, January 16, 2012. She was first married
to the late Kenneth V. Peterson. born in Englewood, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Estelle Slade Cartwright. She retired from Kershaw County Medical Center, where she was a physical therapy aid. After retirement she continued to volunteer at the hospital for many years. She was a former member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church and was attending Beulah United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her husband are her daughters, Cheryl Anne Sumrak (Bruce) of Sylva, NC, Barbara Sue Price (Duane) of Ormond Beach, FL, sons, Kenneth Richard Peterson (Joy) of Cassatt, Kevin Douglas Peterson (Patricia) of Lugoff and Keith Allen Peterson (Stephanie) of Ft. Mr. Ham died Saturday, January 14, 2012. born in Darlington, he was a son of the late Chestley and Cleopatra Tolson Ham. He served in the United States Army and retired from Hermitage Inc. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, reading the bible, and playing golf and horseshoes. Spending time with his grandchildren is what he enjoyed the most.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Lois Thompson Ham; son, Dale Ham (Jennifer) of Camden; daughter, Karen Leanette Neiderquell of Washington; brothers, James Ham of Camden, Willard Ham (Lillian) of Camden, and Fred Ham (Wanda) of Timmonsville; sisters, Maggie Altman of Hartsville and Rose Lyles of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, Clayton Ray Ham, Christian Tyler Ham, Dylan Blake Ham and Corey Liam Ham. Mr. Morgan died Saturday, March 10, 2012. born in North, he was the son of Edward Thomas and Lillie Mae Crim Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a U. S. Army World War II veteran having served for 31 years. He received the POW Medal after being held POW in Germany and the Purple Heart. Mr. Morgan was a member of the JackLeg Club, Kershaw Lodge #29, James Leroy Belk 17, 40 & 8 and VFW 5928 and served as past president and treasurer of the Camden Shrine Club. He was a retired salesman with New South Life Insurance Company. A member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Mr. Morgan was very involved with his community. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Olin Baxley
A funeral service will be held for Olin Edward Baxley on April 24th, 2012 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kershaw, S.C. Mr. Baxley died Saturday April 21, 2012 at home with his family. He was born in Kershaw, S.C. on October 31, 1924 to Daniel Edward Baxley and Lola Huntley Baxley. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy Landrum Baxley, his mother and father, and his brother Harold Huntley Baxley.
He is survived by his brother Daniel Carlyle Baxley (Kitty) of Camden, S.C., a son Michael Baxley (Brenda) of Marshville, N.C., daughters Gail Zwicke (Hal) of Atlanta, GA, Susan Johnston (Phil) of Columbia, S.C., and Lisa Nolan (Byron) of Florence, S.C. He is also survived by grandchildren: Rob Baxley, Landrum Johnston Knight (Ro), Samantha Johnston, Huntley Nolan, Lydia Nolan, Roma Nolan, and Philip Johnston, Jr. He is also survived by two nieces and seven nephews.
Mr. Baxley served in World War II from 1943-1945. He served in the 103rd Army Infantry Division in operations throughout Europe. This division was instrumental in the liberation of the Kaufering concentration camp (a subcamp of Dachau). He graduated from Clemson in 1948 and married
Peggy Landrum Baxley in 1949. He was a farmer in his early years and then worked for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Abney Lodge 211 of the A.F.M.
Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling, managing his land, and spending time at the mountain house he built for his family.

Ruth Elizabeth Thomas McGarry
Mrs. McGarry, 89, died Monday, September 24, 2012, at her Carmel Place home in Charlotte, NC. She was born September 9, 1923, in the Shopton community of western Mecklenburg County to the late Floyd Leon and Ida Rayfield Thomas. After graduation from Berryhill High School, Ruth was employed as a teleprinter operator for Western Union in uptown Charlotte. During World War II, Ruth worked in both the Los Angeles and Oakland, California bureaus. While living in California, she met a young Marine named Gale Richard McGarry, whom she married
, and in 1996, the couple celebrated their Golden Anniversary.
Ruth was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Camden, SC, where she participated in the Silver Tones choir, and the Young at Heart group. Before blindness severely limited her activity, she was an avid bridge player. At Carmel Place, she was a member of the Bell Ringers ensemble, and enjoyed her weekly Bingo games. To the end of her life, her memory was keen. She will always be remembered for her wittiness, her positive outlook on life, even during hard times, her humility, and, most of all, her deep and abiding faith.
Ruth is survived by her brother, Dr. William Grady Thomas, and wife Carolyn, of Bristol, TN; a son, Dr. Richard McGarry, and wife Carter, of Davidson, NC; a daughter, Jill McGarry Norman, and husband, Richard, of Charlotte, NC; her four granddaughters, Kristi Williams of Atlanta, GA, Megan Winslow of Suffolk, VA, Allison Norman of Chapel Hill, NC and Catherine Norman of Boone, NC and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2012, in Forest Lawn cemetery in Camden SC, with the Rev. Bruce Hancock officiating. A memorial celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Carmel Place on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 2:00 PM, with Chaplain Diane Mowrey officiating.

Dr. Mike Watford Sr.
Dr. Michael "Mike" Stanley Watford, Sr., age 61, went to be with his Lord Monday, September 24, 2012, at his home following an illness. born September 16, 1951 in Camden, SC, he was the son of Rev. Lonnie Ernest Watford, Jr. and Mrs. Colleen M. Watford.
Dr. Watford graduated from Camden High School in 1969, was a member of Citadel’s 1973 graduating class, received his Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest and a doctoral degree in Theology from Drew University in 1988. He went on to serve the community for more than thirty years as a Baptist minister, more recently working with Woodman of the World and he was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Horry County. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling a good joke. Most of all he enjoyed serving the Lord.
Survivors include his parents of Camden, SC; his wife of thirty-nine years, Barbara Jeffcoat Watford, two daughters, Danielle Watford and fiancé Buddy McDowell and Christy Watford-Suggs and husband, Kevin all of Loris, SC; one son, Stan Watford, Jr. and wife, Ashley of Loris, SC; three grandchildren, Grace Suggs and Alyssa and Brayden Watford; one brother, Dr. C. Susan Silva Bevier
Susan Silva Bevier, 60, originally from Fall River, MA and most recently of Camden, SC, departed this earthly life peacefully on Sunday morning, February 3, 2013. A service for friends and family will be held at the Quaker cemetery in Camden at a date to be announced. Donations in honor of Ms. Bevier should be sent to the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 S. Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Ms. Bevier was a graduate of the Network Engineering program at Midlands Technical College and had recently retired as the supervisor for statewide desktop support for the South Carolina Department of Revenue after a multi-year career. Before working at the Department of Revenue, Susan worked as a purchasing executive for Burger King in Miami for 17 years. Susan had a great love for cooking, crafts, pets, sewing and flying with her husband; she was also one of the founding members of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1132 in Camden and a longtime supporter of the ASPCA. Most of all, Ms. Bevier was a caring wife, daughter, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend who loved life, family and friends.
Susan is survived by her husband of 15 years, Mr. Kim Edward Bevier of Camden; her parents, Januario and Mary Silva of Manning; her daughter, Jamie Williams and her husband, Willy (Donald Jr.) of Catania, Italy; her son, Jason Godber and his wife, Janessa of Miami, FL; daughter, Diana Bevier-Geddes and her husband, James of Columbia; son, Steven Bevier of Columbia; her niece, Lori Ann Finelli of Port Richey, FL; her grandchildren, Toy (Donald III) and Kaitlyn Williams of Catania, Italy; and her sister-in-law Nancy of Clearwater, FL. She was also the sister of the late Jan Silva of Fall River, MA.
Susan’s family and friends will miss her dearly.

Willis U. Arthur, Jr.
Willis U. Arthur, Jr., formerly of Camden, SC passed away April 27, 2013. He was born November 13, 1925, in Aiken, SC to Willis Uriah Arthur, Sr. and Iva Lee Redd Taylor Arthur as the youngest of eleven siblings. After serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, Willis graduated from the University of SC with a mechanical engineering degree. He spent his entire career with DuPont starting at the Savannah River Plant in Aiken and then the May Plant in Camden.
Willis was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Camden for over 40 years, especially enjoying his time as a member of the church choir. He was a member of the American Legion and a Past Master of the George Walton Masonic Lodge in Augusta, Ga. Nothing gave him more joy than helping friends and family fix anything mechanical and being a devoted caretaker in later years for Emily, his wife of 64 years.
Willis is survived by his wife Emily of Camden, his son Randy and wife Jane and grandchildren Abby and Jake, all of Charlotte, NC, and granddaughter Hilary Arthur of Asheville, NC. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristina and all of his siblings.
The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Camden at 11 am on Tuesday, April 30. Powers Funeral Home of Lugoff is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to First Baptist Church of Camden or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Helen "Sis" Warden Black
Sis Black passed away peacefully with family members at her side on April 4, 2013 in Annapolis, Md. She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT., on December 18, 1923, the daughter of the late David Royal and Hazel Ramage Warden. She was raised in Bluefield, W. VA. and graduated from Beaver High School, where she was an excellent academic student, class leader, and athlete. During this time she attained the title of the National Drum Majorette Champion in Chicago for the Bluefield Drum and Bugle Corps, where they won first place at the American Legion National Convention. Upon graduation, Sis attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA and the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont until 1943. She then entered the Army Air Corps to "help win the war." Her initial assignment as an aerial photographer was to Stewart Field, N.Y. After marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Sanders Black, in April 1944, she was reassigned to Victoria, Texas as a link trainer.
After the war, Sis obtained her degree in education from the University of Virginia in May of 1948. During her marriage she resided in Mullins, W.VA., Waynesboro, VA., Camden, S.C., Ashland, Ky., Chester, VA., and Virginia Beach, VA. Many wonderful years were spent in teaching with her later years spent in special education. During this time Sis’s athleticism and enthusiasm lead to coaching successful basketball and swimming teams.
Above all, Sis’s devotion to her family was her main priority in life. To rear children that were good Christians and Americans was her main objective. Time with family at her beach cottage in Buxton, N.C. was heavenly to her. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Sanders on May 17, 2002 and her brother, Stacey Blair Warden. Sis is survived by four devoted children, David(Louise), Bethea, Montine(Bert), and Sandy(Rhonda), twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, a brother, Dr. David Royal Warden and two sisters, Marion Warden Loesch and Susan Warden Neal.
Throughout her life, Sis had a close affiliation with the Presbyterian Church. She was also a loyal member of the Fairbanks Family Association.
A memorial service will be held on June 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with family and friends in Bluefield, W.Va. at the Christ Episcopal Church with the committal in the Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hatteras Island Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 639, Buxton, N. Lucille Dry Larrabee
CHAPIN - Mrs. Lucille Dry Larrabee, 90, died Friday, July 24, 2015. Services were held at three p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Heritage at Lowman Home Chapel, White Rock, SC, and will be officiated by Reverend Angela Jennings. The family will receive friends following the service in the Lowman Gallery.
Mrs. Larrabee was born December 23, 1924, in Stanley County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Luther Flake and Annie Pauline Efird Dry. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School (NC) and earned a bookkeeping degree from Morgan Business School of Albemarle, NC. She held a position as bookkeeper with the Stanley News and Press of Albemarle prior to her marriage. Mrs. Larrabee was a charter member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Camden. She loved helping in the nursery and altar guild duties. In March 2011, she and her husband, Bruce M. Larrabee, Jr., moved from their beloved home of 53 years in Camden to The Heritage at Lowman, 2101 Dutch Fork Road, White Rock, SC 29177. Mrs. Larrabee enjoyed playing Bridge on a weekly basis. They attended the Heritage Lowman Chapel regularly. She loved traveling with her husband through Europe and Australia, RVing through North America, and cruising through the Caribbean and to Alaska. Including her husband, her greatest joys were her children and their families, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, their children Kay Larrabee Horton (Phillip); Donna Larrabee McMurray (Thomas); Bruce M. Larrabee, III, (Beth); and Chad Luther Larrabee (Lisa). She is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Danna Horton Misenheimer (John); Donna Horton Joye (Derek), Lindsey McMurray Zyrski (Chris); P. Brice Horton, Jr.; Haley Kay McMurray (Britton Reeder-Thompson); H. Blake Larrabee; C. Davis Larrabee; Grace Larrabee; Annabeth Larrabee; Catherine Larrabee and Mitchell Larrabee. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Rebecca Dry Medlin and brothers, Samuel Wilson Dry and Robert Flake Dry. Also surviving is her sister Anna Pines Dry Eagle of Mt. Pleasant, NC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
