IRMO – Graveside service for Victoria Pounds Sessoms, 45, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in Nazareth Lutheran Church cemetery. Ms. Sessoms was born September 12, 1963 in Richland County and passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009. She was a daughter of the late Fred Robert Pounds and Betty McCartha Pounds. Ms. Sessoms retired from the State Employment Security Commission.
Ms. Sessoms is survived by her step daughter, Jessica Sessoms; brother, John O. Pounds of Lexington and sister, Ramona Wadford (Tommy) of West Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother James F. Pounds.
Helen Charlene Dixon "Cha Cha" Mathis
Funeral services for Helen Charlene (Dixon) “Cha Cha” Mathis, 43, will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Malvern Hill Baptist Church, Camden, SC. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff and other times at the home.
Charlene passed away on Wednesday evening, April 29, 2015. She was born in Camden. She was married
to her first love and best friend Jim L. Mathis. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was the daughter of George Dixon Jr. and Annie Mae Hahula Dixon.
Charlene served for 21 years as a teacher in Sumter and Kershaw County Schools. She was a devoted and caring teacher who loved her students and was loved by them. Charlene loved spending time with her husband, sons, and her family. She enjoyed reading, watching football, fishing, spending time at the beach, and shopping with her family. Charlene had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others.
Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Jim L. Mathis; children, William and Jacob Mathis of the home; sisters, Darlene (Ricky) Ham and Marlene (Don) Bantum; brothers, Leon (Dianne) Dixon and Douglas (Leslie) Dixon; and many other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Brad Troublefield, Chuck Troublefield, Tony Smith, Joey Dixon, Josh Dixon and Dillon Young. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Troublefield and Mark Troublefield.
She was a member of Malvern Hill Baptist Church where she served in various ways. Charlene loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, and mind. Memorials may be made to Malvern Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1514 Malvern Hill Drive, Camden, S.C. 29020.
James C. Gardner

Mr. Gardner died Saturday April 28, 2007. born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late William Kirby Gardner, Sr. and Martha Carmon Roberts Gardner. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and enjoyed going to Monday Night Prayer Meeting at House of Prayer with Open Arms Church. He enjoyed fishing and baseball.
Surviving are his sons, James D. Gardner, and Scott Gardner and his wife, Brenda; daughter, Donna Gardner Flack and her husband, Herbie; brother, Charles Gardner and Paul Gardner; sisters, Shelby Outen and Ann Lowery; 16 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Furniss went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 26, 2007. born in Richmond, Va., he was a son of the late John and Gladys Furniss of Camden and the late Harry and Shirley Cumberland of Keyser, W.V. He was a member of House of Prayer with Open Arms Church, Kershaw.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Furniss; sons, Buster and Ricky Furniss of Dillon, Allen Furniss of Elgin, and Abie Furniss of Lugoff; daughter, Gladys Ray of Cassatt; brothers, John and Gibby Furniss, both of Lugoff, and Danny Cumberland of Virginia; sister, Kate Sheetz of Buffalo Mills, Pa.; and eleven grandsons and two granddaughters.
Gilbert left this earth loved by many and will be missed by all.
Jean Morehead Larkin

CAMDEN - Yesterday, Jean Morehead Larkin died peacefully in her home on Union Street in Camden, South Carolina. The daughter of John Lindsay Morehead and Louise Nickerson Morehead, she was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1928.
Formerly married
to Peter A. Larkin, who predeceased her in 1969, she lived in Charlotte and in Wilmington, Delaware before making Camden her home in 1964. Jean is survived by four children and their spouses: John and Annie Larkin of San Antonio, Texas; Peter and Ashley Larkin of Houston; Louise and David Cutler of Camden; and Jean and John Dobson of San Antonio. She leaves, in addition, eight grandchildren: Robert, John and Larkin Dobson; Sophie, Mary and John Larkin IV; and Lindsay and Mia Larkin. Two nieces, Lucy Chatham and Louise Neaves, and two nephews, John and Albert Chatham remain. Her two sisters, Mary Chatham of Elkin, North, Carolina, and Lindsay Dickson, of Charlotte, preceded her in death.
After attending public school in Charlotte, Jean Larkin graduated from Chatham Hall in Virginia, in 1947, and from Briarcliff Junior College in New York in 1949. A member of the Junior League in Charlotte and in Wilmington, she was also an active volunteer in the hospital auxiliary of Charlotte Memorial, now Carolina’s Medical Center. She served as a member of the central selection committee of the Morehead Foundation in Chapel Hill prior to becoming a trustee of the foundation in 1984. She served on this board until 2005. She has been active in the antique business in Camden for many years. She is a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Camden. She helped to found the former Joseph Kershaw Academy and supported the Kershaw County Humane Society. Jean was a member of Charlotte Country Club, the Charlotte City Club, Springdale Hall and Camden Country Club.
Known to her friends as “Motley, ” she was a gifted athlete who loved the outdoors. As a junior, she won the North Carolina State tennis championship for her age bracket. In Charlotte and in Camden, she was very involved with horses. She helped Joe Fargis buy the mare, “Touch of Class, ” who later won an Olympic gold medal. An excellent shot, Jean loved to shoot skeet and to hunt. Jean Morehead Larkin was a loyal and devoted friend, and she will be missed by her family and friends. We mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be held at her home at 101 Union Street in Camden, South Carolina, at 11:00 am on Monday, April 30th, The Reverend Harry E. Lawhon, Jr., Rector emeritus of Grace Episcopal Church, presiding. The burial service will take place at 4:00 pm. at Elmwood cemetery in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donors give to the charity of their choice.

Justin died Saturday, April 21, 2007. born in Columbia, he was the son of Linwood Eugene Tyndall and Veda Carrol Tyndall. He was a ninth grade student at Lugoff-Elgin High School where he was in R.O.T.C and played on the J.V. Football Team. He enjoyed going on mission trips and hanging out with his friends and riding four wheelers.
He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where he was a member of the youth group that he dearly loved.
Surviving are his father of Elgin; mother of Charleston; sister, Tiffany Shafer; brothers, Linwood Eugene Bryan, Stevie Bryan, and Keith Bryan; paternal grandparents, Linwood and Bessie Tyndall; aunts, Carol J. Bowles, Angela T. Cosentino, and Suzanne Johnson; uncle, Dennis Tyndall; and many cousins. He was predeceased by an uncle, Michael Tyndall.

Mr. Naso died Thursday, April 12, 2007. born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of Joanna Callura Naso and the late Charles E. Naso. He was an insurance agent and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the president’s club for AFLAC and the Key Club, and a member of the Pioneer Life Insurance Company Chairman’s Club.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Carol Anne Peter Naso; his mother of Lugoff; brother and sister-in-law, Carl M. and Mary-Luce Naso of Lugoff; nephews, Carl W. Naso, Christopher J. Naso, and Paul I. Naso; nieces, Rachel C. J. Knoerr and Angelica C. Naso; great-nephew, Joshua Matthew Naso; and great-niece, Madison Knoerr.

ELGIN - Madge Lee Klein, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007. born on August 14, 1927 in Lincoln County, W. V., she was a daughter of the late Albert and Lora J. McClelland Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nannie Clark and Hulda Clark, both of Branchland, W.V., and a brother, Orval C. Clark of Huntington, W.V.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin I. Klein; a daughter, Paula (Charles) Phillips of Elgin, S.C.; sons, Dwayne Clark of Elgin, S.C., Edward (Carol) Smith of Branchland, W.V., Douglas Smith of Huntington, W.V., and Edwin Scott (Suzette) Klein of Gaithersburg, Md.; six grandchildren, Tammi (Anthony) Rampino of Bunker Hill, W.V., Christopher (Angie) Phillips of Elgin, Kristy (Davie) Scraggs of Branchland, W.V., Heather (Douglas) Clay of Richmond, Ky., Shawn (Sara) Smith of Branchland, W.V., and Christopher Ryan Gibson of Machiasport, Maine; great-grandchildren, Joseph Scraggs, Austin Scraggs, Kiara Clay, Kinsey Clay, Antoinette Rampino, Mckenna Phillips, Kelsey Phillips, Reece Frye, and Isaiah Smith.
