SUMTER - Graveside service for Fredrica S. Thrasher, 99, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Sumter cemetery, Sumter.
Mrs. Thrasher, wife of the late Thomas L. Thrasher, died Thursday, October 18, 2007. born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Fredrick and Lula Sandel Stoudenmire. She attended Columbia College and Owned and operated Sumter Shoe Store for 25 years. She continued with Brodie Shoe Department for 25 years.
Mrs. Thrasher was an active life-time member of St. James Lutheran Church, president of the circle meeting and treasurer of Suber Circle. She was an active volunteer for Hospice for 12 years, and was a member of YMCA and the American Legion for 50 years.
She was predeceased by her sister, Angie McCloud; and brothers, Hubert O’Neil Stoudenmire and Connor D. Stoudenmire.
Surviving are her twin nieces, Joan Roberts and Judy Prather; nephew, Dan Stodenmire great-nieces, Adrianna Vollendorf and Angie Helms; great-nephews, Alan Roberts, and Billy Young; great great-nephews, Dale McCaskill, Hunter Young and William Young; and a great great great-niece, Ella Young.
Jasper O. Dinkins

LUGOFF - Funeral service for Jasper O. “Jack” Dinkins, 87, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Dinkins-Powell Home Place. Rev. Dr. Mark Bredholt will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Dinkins died Wednesday, October 17, 2007. born in Centerville, S.C., he was the son of the late Hollie L. and Burdette Parker Dinkins. He was actively involved with farming his entire life including tending to cows, working with tractors and keeping daily farm operations organized. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed sitting outside under a shade tree reading the newspaper, chewing tobacco, listening to country music, and going to McDonald’s for apple pies.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Robert Powell of Lugoff; four grandchildren, Jessica R. Cooper, Robert O. Powell, Amy N. Powell, and Erin C. Powell, all of Lugoff; two great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Wilma D. and Rembert Keith of Lugoff; brother and sister-in-law, Hollie L. and, Joyce G. Dinkins of Camden. He was predeceased by a sister, Elouise D. Coker.
The family extends great appreciation to Hospice of Tri County for their loving care.

Mrs. Powell, wife of the late Foster Otto Powell, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007. born in Rockford, Ill, she was a daughter of the late George and Rhoda Barnhart. She enjoyed swinging and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn Hernandez of Columbia, Robert Powell and his wife, Jackie of Lugoff, Ronald Powell of Columbia, Barbara Hernandez and her husband, Rafael of Chicago, Ill., and Sheila O’Neal and her husband Jerald of Hartsville; brothers, Junior Barnhart, William Barnhart, Clarence Barnhart, and Michael Barnhart, all of Dixon, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Foster John Powell; and sister, Darlene Flock.

Mrs. Bryant, wife of the late Marion T. Bryant, died Saturday, October 13, 2007. born in Red Oak, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Mary Mallory Coleman. She was a member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, Ga. and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church in Lugoff, S.C. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bob Forrest of Buford, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Beth Bryant of Lugoff, S.C.; grandchildren, Joey Ward of Hampton, Ga., Kathy Cameron of Snellville, Ga., Lindy and Ricky Barnes of Homer, Ga., Rana and Jeff Bailey of Buford, Ga., Lynn Case of Lugoff, S.C., Tammy and James Blackwell of Chapin, S.C., Judy and Charles Spears of Gaston, S.C., and Byron Forrest of High Point, N.C.; twenty great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gates, wife of the late Jesse J. Gates, Sr., died Thursday, October 11, 2007. born in Lugoff, she was a daughter of the late James T. and Margaret Mattox Jackson. She was a member of El-Bethel Faith Community Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and fishing.

Mr. Proctor died Tuesday, October 9, 2007. born in Camden, he was a son of the late Leonard and Ruby Cameron Proctor. He was a member of Church in the Garden in Camden where he served as a Deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Barbara Newman Proctor; daughter Donna Sergent of Fort Mill; son, Allan Proctor of Fort Mill; grandchildren, Matt Decker, Justin Sergent, Ashley Proctor, Dakota Proctor, Montana Proctor, Bree Proctor, Jordan Proctor, and Savannah Proctor; brother, Leonard Proctor of Lugoff; and sister, Pansey Bell of Lugoff.

ELGIN - Service for Addie Lee Hill Hanna, 76, will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral home, Lugoff, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. A graveside side service will be held Sunday at 1:00 pm. in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. Memorials may be made to, American Heart Association or Hospice of Kershaw County.
Mrs. Hanna died Wednesday, October 03, 2007. born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Jimmie M. Hill, Jr., and Delsie Lee Fleming Hill. A devoted wife to her late husband, Sgt. James E. Hanna, U.S. Army (Ret’d), she dedicated herself to causes that helped families of soldiers. She was active in the NCO Wives Club for 45 years and received in 2004 the Oldest Continuing Member and was the founder of the Seesaw Game. She received Volunteer of the Decade Award at Fort Jackson and operated a gift wrapping Center at Fort Jackson during Christmas for many years.
Mrs. Hanna enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her children, Curtis F. Hanna and his wife, Cathy R. of Lugoff, Mary H. Eastlake of Gaston, and Curtis Franklin Miles of Elgin; sisters, Nita Lindley and Lib Gravely; grandchildren, James Baxter Miles, Patricia Ann Hanna, John R. Calcutt, Stephanie C. Tillery, Megan Miles, James Erin Miles Katie Miles, Ansley Miles, and Sarah Miles; great-grandchildren, Cody Fredrick, Bryce McCaskill, Colin Tillery, Alec Tillery, Hayden Tillery, Hannah Miles, and Conner Miles. She was predeceased by sister, Betty Jean Landuth; a granddaughter, Vanessa R. Thompson; great-grandson, Xander Gage Thompson; and son-in-law, John Eastlake.

Bobby Lee Rush

CAMDEN - Funeral service for Bobby Lee Rush, Sr., 79, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn memorial park. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 17 or Parkinson’s Association Chapter of the Carolina’s.
Mr. Rush died Wednesday, September 19, 2007. born in Westville, he was a son of the late Grover C. and Bertha Owens Rush. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked for 37 years.
Mr. Rush was a member of the American Legion Post 17 and was a Mason. He coached little league baseball, basketball, and football for many years and was a recipient of the Percy Mays Award. He was a former member of the Camden High Steppers and enjoyed fishing and poetry.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and formerly taught Sunday School at the Karesh Wing.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Dixie S. Rush; son, Bobby Lee Rush, Jr. and his wife, Jennie of Columbia; daughter, Pam Lovett and her husband, Bobby of Bethune; brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Edith Rush and James and Inez Rush, all of Camden; sister, Sara Buxton of Camden; grandchildren, Scott Rush, Brittany Rush, Jeff Lovett and his wife, Patricia, Paige Evans and her husband, Eddie and Tori Smith and her husband, Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Lovett, Heather Lovett, Chad Smith, and Josh Smith. He was predeceased by brothers, G.C. Rush, William Rush, Edward Rush, and Danny Rush; and a sister, Elizabeth Owens.
