Mrs. Griffin, wife of the late James Jackson “Jack” Griffin, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007. born in Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Mack and Lannie Poston Brown. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her children, Janet K. Werner and her husband, Lou of Forest Hill, Md., Rev. James Jerry Griffin and his wife, Brenda of Essex, Md., Patricia Harris and her husband, Mel of Raleigh, N.C., Diane Griffin of Bethune, Ray Griffin and his wife, Marilyn of Camden, Bunny Gainey and her husband, Tommy of Bethune, and Glenn Griffin and his wife, Eileen of Forest City, N.C.; siblings, Carrie Horton of Cassatt, Nita Hayden of Sumter, Rev. Howard Brown of Lucknow, and Robert Brown of Bethune; 18 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Horton.

Mr. White died Thursday, September 6, 2007. born in Lee County, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Joan Graham White. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Coker College. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from DuPont after thirty-seven years.
Mr. White was a Mason and a member of Lodge #29 and was also a Shriner. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Sara C. White; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Mike Munn of Camden, Patty and Porter Thompkins of Sumter, and Mary Ann and Zick Boone of Rock Hill; sisters, Frances Miller of Port Richey, Fla., and Ruth Nettles of Cordova, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Vinson.

Mrs. Alderman died Tuesday, September 4, 2007. born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late John and Daisy Lee Shannon. She was a former member of Spears Creek Baptist Church and Alpine Baptist Church and attended Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a member of AARP and enjoyed baking, needle work and crafts.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Wilford E. Alderman; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael E. and Dana N. Alderman, and Timothy D. and Pamela A. Alderman; daughter, Darlene E. Alderman; sister, Ruby Peake; and grandchildren, Troy L. Coker, Alexandra D. “Lexie” Alderman, and Wil M. Alderman. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Michelle D. Alderman.

Mrs. Vaughan died Sunday, January 27, 2008. born in Chesterfield, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William Manuel Grooms and Leila Mae Brown. She was an Evangelist with the Church of God of Prophecy before going to work as a Customer Service Rep. at Wal-Mart in Camden, S.C.
Surviving are her children, Glenda Cook of Lugoff, Mitchell Vaughan of Camden, Vickie McCathern of Cassatt, Myron Vaughan of Lugoff, and Mark Vaughan of St. George; brothers, Paul Grooms of Elgin, and Don Grooms of Camden; sisters, Ann Cobb of Camden, and Louise Hyatt of Lucknow; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, W. Oren Grooms of Cassatt, Grady Grooms of Columbia, and Glenn Brown of Charleston; sisters, Leolis Harris of Lexington, and Nora Outlaw of Camden.

Mrs. McLaughlin died Wednesday, January 23, 2008. born in Camden, she was a daughter of the Late Grover and Mary Alice Kelly Owens. She was a supervisor of Admissions at Kershaw County Medical Center for many years and formerly worked at Thermoid. She loved walking, kayaking, canoeing, and inline skating. She delighted in her grandchildren’s activities.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Roy McLaughlin; son, Howard Malloy “Trey” Shumate of Camden, and Grover Kevin Shumate (Hilda) of Easley; step daughters, Chesnee Murdock (David) of Waco, Texas, and Raven Lynn McLaughlin of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Jerry Owens (Katherine) of Cassatt; grandchildren, Mallorie and Connor Shumate; Keven, Nicolas, and Owen Shumate; Wimberly and Channing Murdock; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cameron, wife of the late, John Thomas Cameron, died Monday, December 31, 2007. born in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late John Gary and Laura Cook Heath. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where she was in the Rev. Bessie Parker Sunday School Class, the Julia Jones Circle, Golden Hearts and the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, canning and making jelly. She was a loving mother and what she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Cameron (Donald) Branham of Lugoff, Carl E. (Libby) Cameron of Lugoff, Betty Cameron (Mike) Reynolds of Lugoff, Leland H. Cameron of Lugoff, and Carla Cameron (Danny) Watson of Lugoff; sisters, Allene Dabbs and Irene Anderson, both of Columbia; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Mable H. Higgins, Inez H. Brown, and Nellie H. Strickland; grandson, Christopher Matthew Cameron; and a daughter-in-law, Deborah McCaskill Cameron.
