Edith White Hughes, 84, widow of the late James C. 'Pick' Hughes, Sr., went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 16, 2004 after a brief illness.
born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Leo and Rossie Chastain White. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rossie W. Caldwell and her brothers, James William White and Charlie Leo White.
She was retired from Stone Manufacturing Company and in recent years worked as the 'biscuit maker' for The Dixie Restaurant.
She was a faithful member of Truth Missionary Baptist Church, Greenville, SC for over 30 years.
Surviving are her children, Shirley Hughes Staton of Greenville; James C. Hughes, Jr. Piedmont; and, Charlie L. Hughes and wife Dorothy of Greenville; seven grandchildren, the Rev. Dr. Cecil P. Staton, Jr.; Laura S. Roane; James C. Hughes, III; Kathy H. Keziah; Tonya S. Nickols; Walter Shead; and Wayne Shead; thirteen great-grandchildren; and, one great-great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Truth Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sammy Kay; the Rev. Dr. Cecil P. Staton, Jr.; and the Rev. Dr. Jim M. Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.
The family is at the home of the daughter Shirley Staton, 116 Katheryn Court.

George Ernest Kellett, Jr., 61, of 821 N. Martin Road, died August 15, 2004 at his home.
born in Greenville, he was the son of the late George Ernest, Sr. and Clara Kremer Kellett. He was retired V. F. Corp. and was a member of Eastlan Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, David Kellett and his wife, Martha, of Taylors, Scott Kellett of Greenville, and Gregg Kellett of Dacusville; two grandsons, Shane and Seth Kellett; a sister, Evelyn Turner of Greenville; step-mother, Mildred Kellett and a step-sister, Pat Buzzell, both of Greenville; two step-daughters, Regina and Deborah, and their families.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with burial following in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The families are at their respective homes.

Mary Loumos Poulos, 83, of 6 Barrett Street, died August 16, 2004 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
born in E. Palestine, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Anna Loumos and the widow of John Poulos. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Adult Sunday School, Philoptochos Society of St. George, GAS Sorority, AGAPA Fellowship Circle and the Daughters of Penelope.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Burgess and her husband, John, Georgia Griffin and her husband, Donald; three grandchildren, Michael Griffin, Tyler Burgess, Kim Crowe and her husband Russ; one great-grandchild, Elias Crowe. She is also survived by her caregiver, Pam Scarborough. Mrs. Poulos was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Kondos and a brother, George Loumos.

Visitation will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with a Triasion Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The family is at 28 Lawson Way.
James Frank Solas

James Frank Solas, 83, of 46 Tilbury Way, Greenville, died August 20, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown.
born November 11, 1921 in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Frank and Sadie Brewer Solas.
Mr. Solas was a 1941 graduate of Greenville High School and a graduate of Clemson Military College.
He was a World War II veteran of the US Army serving as a Combat Engineer.
Mr. Solas was a project manager with Potter-Shackleford Construction and retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church and a 50-year member of IPTAY.
He is survived by his wife, Joye Greene Solas; three sons, James F. Solas, Jr. and wife Lynn of Simpsonville, Billy Richardson and wife Cathy of Greenville, Steve Richardson and wife Debbie of Greenville; one daughter, Rebecca Solas Hatch and husband Kevin of Mauldin; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30am at Northgate Baptist Church with visitation prior from 9:15 to 10:15am in the Welcome Sunday School Classroom. Entombment will follow in C.M. Gaffney Memorial Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Maudie Elizabeth Walden Pitman, 84, of 4 Judson Road, died Monday, August 15, 2005.
born in Dahlonega, GA, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Elizabeth Sullens Walden and wife of the late William E. Pitman.
Mrs. Pitman was a member of Gordon Street Assembly of God and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph R. Senick, of Greenville, her caregivers for the last eight years; several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation from 1:15 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, West.
The family is at the residence following the service.

Sgt. Edward 'Eddie' Ralph Heselton, 23, of Easley, died while serving his country in Afghanistan on August 11, 2005.
born in Greenville he was a son of Verne and Becky Heselton of Greenville.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Melissa Heselton and a one-year old daughter, Meghan Nichole Heselton, of the home; a sister, Carla Heselton, of Mableton, GA; two brothers, Charlie Heselton of Lagoona Hills, CA and Andy Heselton of Greenville; and six half-brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial will be in Arlington National cemetery.

Mr. Howard was very involved in community services including tutoring children, coaching soccer, and performing magic tricks for the children of Shriner's Hospital.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three sons, Robert Ernest Howard, Jr. and Dixon B. Howard both of Greenville, Matthew Price Howard of Rock Hill, SC.; a sister, Paula J. Howard of Washington, DC.; six brothers, Stephen J. Howard, J. Peter Howard, Alan M. Howard, Tony D. Howard, Gregory J. Howard all of Greenville, and Vincent P. Howard of Oxford, MI.
