Mrs. Lorraine Teresa Vanik Mayes, 72, of 15 Sylvan Drive, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital - Downtown.
born in Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Mayes was the wife of Charles E. Mayes, Sr. and the daughter of the late George and Marie Vanik. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Denise Ann Lane and her husband, Danny of Greenville, and her son, Charles E. Mayes, Jr. of Fountain Inn, SC; and two grandchildren.
A Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with visitation until 8:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family respectfully requests that no floral contributions be sent. The family will be at the home.

Alma Looper Rich, 92, of 1335 Cedar Lane Road died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at her home.
born in the Dacusville community of Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Hattie Robinson Looper and the wife of the late Fred B. Rich.
Mrs. Rich was a charter member of Berea Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Motsinger and husband, Robert of Winston-Salem, N.C., Rachel Jane Rich of Greenville, and Betty Waldrop and husband, Wallace of Travelers Rest; two grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rich was predeceased by four sisters, Lillian Baker, Grace Reeder, Florene Baker, and Jeanette Looper; two brothers, George and Nay Looper; a granddaughter, Jennifer Waldrop, and two infant grandsons.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at noon at Berea Heights Baptist with visitation from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens.
The family is at the residence.

Vina Bell Lambert Burgan, 92, of # 1 Starnes Street, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at her home.
Mrs. Burgan was the widow of William Victor Burgan, Sr., and the daughter of the late Jim and Molly Bowlin Lambert. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Fellowship. She was a member of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Burgan is survived by two daughters, June Gossett and Shelia Rhodes, both of Greenville; four sons, Bill Burgan of Greenville, John Burgan of Mauldin, Bob Burgan of Rock Hill and Ken Burgan of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Inez Davis of Pennington Gap, VA. She is preceded in death by one great-grandchild and one son, Lowell Burgan.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.

born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Mamie Grice Vermillion and the widow of the Reverend Charles B. Bradley.
Mrs. Bradley was the pastor's wife for Faith Tabernacle Church of Greenville for 26 years.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jay Scott of Greenville, and Debra and Michael Miller of Easley; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles B. Bradley, Jr. and Frankie of Taylors; a sister, Louise Roberts of Mooresville, N.C.; two brothers, Tom and Joe Vermillion, both of Greenville, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bradley was predeceased by her twin sister, Mary Vermillion, and a brother, Doug Vermillion.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Graceland cemetery, West.

John N. Waldrop, 68, died Wednesday May 04, 2005 at his residence.
born in Welch, W. Virginia, he was the son of the late Claud N. and Virginia Rhodes Waldrop.
Mr. Waldrop was retired from Celanese and was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Mason Biltmore Lodge #446 and the Hejaz Shriners. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran having served state side.
Surviving are his former wife, Norma Council Waldrop of Ulmer, SC.; three sons, Jimmy Waldrop and his wife Martha of Greenville, Bobby Waldrop of Taylors, Chuck Waldrop and his wife Staci of Greer; a daughter, Donna Gandy and her husband Jeff of Lawrenceville, GA.; three grandsons, Daniel Whitman, Brandon Lee, Jonathan Waldrop; three granddaughters, Stephanie Turner, Ashley Gandy, Taylor Waldrop; and two great grandchildren, Alexis Whitman and Ian Bowers. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Gandy.

William Donald Courtney, Jr.

William D. Courtney, 68, of Taylors died Sunday, March 13, after a long illness.
A native of Bronx, New York, he later moved to Chicago, IL., Ossining, NY., Arden, NC., then finally Taylors, SC.
He was a very successful business man, spending his entire career in the apparel industry with Sears, Kelwood Company and the GAP. He took many trips around Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean with his loving wife Ingrid whom he adored.
Survivors include his daughter, Celeste Devaney, her husband John, and their children, Greg, Rebecca, Josh and Noah; his son, Kevin Courtney, his wife Marion, and their children Shane, Niall, and Connor; his sister, Eileen Simas; and a brother, James Courtney and his wife, Joan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of one's choice or to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive Greer, SC 29650.

born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Stiles Dendy and Marie Prince Burns.
She was the widow of Clyde A. Cann and together they owned and operated Cann's Furniture Store for over 50 years.
Mrs. Cann graduated from Ware Shoals High School in 1928. She was a charter member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, treasurer of the church, and involved in many activities.
Surviving are a daughter, and son-in-law, Wakena C. and Gianfranco Gerosa, of Austin, TX; a granddaughter, Marilena Gerosa, of Austin, TX; a grandson, Gian Gabriel Gerosa, of Austin, TX; a sister, Dorothy B. Bradley, of Greenville; and her beloved poodle, Tiffany, of Austin, TX.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Barbara and Peggy Cann; four brothers, Stiles D. Burns, Jack P. Burns, Fred C. Burns, and William 'Bill' A. Burns; and three sisters, Edna B. Abrams, Sara B. Brewer, and Mary B. Smith.
Services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation prior from 12 Noon - 1:15 p.m. Burial will be in Old Silverbrook cemetery, Anderson.

born in Greenville County he was a son of the late Charles Grayson and Laura Duffy Lankford.
Mr. Lankford retired from Saco Lowell and was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church. He was also a United States Navy Veteran.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy Bates Lankford, of the home; two sons, Rick M. Lankford, and wife Debbie, of Greenville, and Mark Lankford, and wife Lynn Pitts, of Greenville; two sister-in-laws, Mary Lankford of Greenwood and Amalee Bruce of FL; two grandsons, Grant and Chaz Lankford; a granddaughter, Casey Raines; and a great granddaughter.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with visitation from 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
