Roy Campbell, 75, of 21 Springside Avenue, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005.
born in Greenville County he was the son of the late Ellis and Sarah Ella Blanchett Campbell.
Mr. Campbell served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Duke Power. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Shirley Smith Campbell, of the home; a daughter, Susan Reid and her husband Roger, of Powdersville; two sons, Joseph P. Campbell and his wife Lisa and Lawrence R. Campbell, both of Greenville; six grandchildren, Chris, Corey, Katie, and Hunter Campbell, Josh and Rebecca Reid; and a great-granddaughter, Haley Campbell.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Graceland cemetery, West with visitation after the service at the graveside.

Ms. Heatherington was a native of Spartanburg County and was the daughter of Donna Joan Genoble Bishop and the late Ronnie Lewis Bishop. She was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughters: Lindsay Brooke Heatherington of Boiling Springs and Amber Nicole Pearson of Spartanburg and a sons: Joshua Lewis Bishop of Boiling Springs and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

R. Dean Dougherty, Sr.
COLUMBIA - R. Dean Dougherty, Sr, 68, of Columbia, SC passed away December 7, 2007. born in Potosi, Missouri, he was the son of the late Luther Andrew Dougherty and Thelma Storey Dougherty.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and will be buried with military honors. He was employed with Bank of America for 19 years and served as the senior vice president for the credit card division. Mr. Dougherty then worked with Carolina First until his retirement. He was a long time member of 1st Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Dean was a loving and caring father and would always think of others before himself. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Ruby Dougherty of the home; a son, Richard Dean Dougherty, Jr. and his wife Terrie of Gilbert; a son, Kenneth Wayne Dougherty and his wife Kim of Pelion; Brian Andrew Dougherty and his fiance' Susan Hammami of Columbia; a sister Marilyn Stires and her husband Sonny of Vista, California; a sister, Margie Mayo and husband Bill of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; a sister, Sandy Rodgers and Ronnie of Arkandelphia, Arkansas; 4 Grandchildren, Brandi Beck, Trey Osborne, Brandon and Richard Dean Dougherty, III; 1 Great-grandchild, Kristian Beck.
Services were Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Woodridge Memorial Park.

Alice Ruth Harrington
WEST COLUMBIA - Alice Ruth Harrington, 92, of West Columbia, died at her residence, December 14, 2007. born in Clarendon County on June 15, 1915, she was the widow of Joseph Burton 'JB' Harrington. She was a daughter of the late Hampton Plowden 'Barbie' Harrington and Zelma Burns Harrington. She was retired from Pacific Columbia Mills, Richland Plant, where she worked for 37 years. She was a member of South Beltline Baptist Church. She was a part of a fifth generation for 6 years until her death.
Funeral Services were Sunday, December 16, 2007, in the Chapel of Woodridge Funeral Home, with Rev. Adrian Moldovan officiating. Interment followed in Woodridge Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers were Carl L. Epps, Sr., Joseph Mitchell Hook, Jr., Karl Bradley Hook, James Harrington, Leon Reardon, and Ricky Harrington. Libby Nowitz Paul
PELION - Libby Nowitz Paul passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, in her home at the age of 88, after a long illness. She was born in Chicago, Ill. on June 8, 1919, to the late Bertha and Louis Nowitz, and attended Northwestern School of Journalism, where she met and married
Don Paul on January 13, 1940. After their wedding, they moved to her beloved California, where they lived for many years.
Mrs. Paul dedicated her life to volunteer services, founding the California branch of the Hemophilia Foundation in Los Angeles. She also founded the California branch of the Denver Home for Asthmatic Children in San Francisco. After moving to South Carolina in 1972, she volunteered for the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, reading books and articles that were recorded for distribution, for 14 years. She also volunteered at the Richland County Library for 13 years. She was very active for many years in the Settlers' Club, the Columbia Antique Study Club, the Settlers' Book Club, and many other organizations over the years. Mrs. Paul was a board member and past president of the Sisterhood for the Tree of Life Congregation and inspired many women to pursue their talents and goals. She loved people and had a special ability to interact with the people she met, leaving her indelible mark on so many.
Libby is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sherry Paul of Winston-Salem, NC; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Paul and John Kaba of Pelion, SC; three grandchildren, Jason Savage, Jodi Whitehead and Alicia Paul; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Austin, Ramey, Tia, Josh, Alexis, and Anastasia; one sister-in-law, June Jacobs of California; nieces and nephews; many beloved friends and her well loved dog and companion, Charlie. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Don M. Paul, and her sister, Evelyn Looper.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at the Tree of Life Congregation, with Rabbi Sanford T. Marcus officiating.

Henry W. Anderson, Jr.
WEST COLUMBIA - Services for Henry W. Anderson, Jr., 79, of West Columbia, were Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Springdale Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Tommy McGill. Burial was at Woodridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers were members of the West Columbia Fire and Police Departments. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springdale Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Anderson answered God's call to come home on Monday, December 3, 2007. A lifelong resident of the West Columbia area, the son of the late Henry W. and Lydia C. Anderson was born on January 17, 1928. The love of his life was his wife, Margie Martin Anderson. He and Margie were married
on June 12, 1948. An Army veteran, he served in Korea during World War II. He continued his public service after the Army working as a civilian employee at Fort Jackson. He, along with many of his friends, was a volunteer firefighter with the West Columbia Fire Department. This volunteer service began a lifetime of municipal employment and service. When the opportunity came, he left the fort and went to work at the Cayce Police Department, serving as a Patrolman and Shift Leader until he accepted the position of Fire Chief of the West Columbia Fire Department. He served as Fire Chief from 1966 until 1975. At this time, he transferred back to the Police Department as a Desk Sergeant until his retirement in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Margie M. Anderson, children and their spouses, Cindy A. Baker (Andy), and H. Barry Anderson (Cindi); five grandchildren, Kimberly Rippy, Jennifer Baker Shaw, Stephanie Baker Vernon, Lauren A. Swicegood, and Steven Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Rippy, Jackson Rippy, Dylan Shaw, Brayden Vernon and Emme Vernon. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred Robinson. He was predeceased by his parents, his Step-Father, Zellie Ellisor and a sister, Dorothy Cauley.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of the C.M. Tucker Center for their friendship, care and compassion for Dad and us, during his stay, and to Hospice of Tri-County, who assisted during his last days.

Chris was born in Columbia September 3, 1967 and passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007. He was a son of Lynda Shuler Caughman and the late David Don Caughman. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. Chris worked for the SC Department of Revenue as Assistant Director, Local Government Division.
Chris is survived by his mother of Lexington; wife, Michelle Cary Caughman; children, Mattison and Truman Caughman; sister and brother-in-law, Eliza and Caldwell Spence of Leesville; brother and sister-in-law, Montford (Monty) and Leah Caughman of Lexington; paternal grandmother, Corrie W. Caughman; maternal grandmother, Lillie Mae Shuler; nephews, Drake, Clint and Whit Spence, Logan Caughman and niece, Rose Cary.
Billy F. Irwin
LEXINGTON - Service to honor the life and memory of Billy F. Irwin, 77, of Lexington, were December 5, 2007 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Officiating the service was Preacher Allen Close; interment followed at Woodridge Memorial Gardens. Mr. Irwin is the widower of Lorena 'Rena' Fuqua Irwin who passed away on March 21, 2004. Both were previously born in Brewton, Alabama. Bill was the son of the late Walter and Ethel Lucus Irwin. After retiring from Sears and Roebuck, after 25 years of service, he was self-employed with Irwin Enterprises until his death.
Bill was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He served God through membership at the Lexington Church of Christ where his second family was devoted in their care to him. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 7 and Disabled American Veterans. Second to Bill's admiration to God, he loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Irwin was a loving father of two, grandfather of five, and great-randfather of ten.
Surviving are his son, Edward Irwin and his wife, Kay of Columbia; his daughter-in-law Cynthia Irwin of Lexington; and his youngest brother, Buck Holley Irwin and his wife, Mary of Middleton, OK.

Horace Olin Burkett, Jr.
LEXINGTON - Our beloved husband and father, Horace Olin Burkett, Jr., 79, went to his eternal home on Sunday night, March 9, 2008, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. born in Lexington County, SC, he was a son of the late Horace Olin Burkett, Sr. and Marie Long Burkett. He grew up in West Columbia and Pelion. As a young man, he was a star athlete at Brookland-Cayce High School and was offered scholarships at Clemson and the Citadel. Horace chose instead to marry his sweetheart, Kathryn Spires on September 4, 1949. In September, he and Kathryn celebrated 59 years of marriage. They were blessed with five children who survive to honor his life: Jimmy Burkett and Debbie Dunn Burkett of West Columbia and their daughters Sarah Burkett Maner and husband Heath Maner and Laura Burkett; Donny Burkett and Jeannie Wynne Burkett of West Columbia and their daughters Tiffany Burkett and Brandi Burkett; Ronny Burkett and Mary McKenna Burkett of West Columbia and their children Michael Burkett and wife Melissa and great-granddaughters, Micaiah, Anna and Alexis, Patrick Burkett, Meghan Burkett and Ian Burkett; Tim Burkett of Savannah and his partner, Lance Wilhelm; and Andrea Burkett Bundrick and her son Jesse Bundrick.

Interment will follow at Gethsemane Baptist Church, St. Matthews, SC. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Hazel, Lee Matthews, Jim Tindal and grandsons, Christopher Johnson, Brandon Johnson, and Jeffrey Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and the Youth Group of First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
Rev. Johnson went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 1, 2012. born in Bennettsville, SC, he was the son of the late Columbus Jackson Johnson and Oralee Jones Johnson. Rev. Johnson served as Pastor of Amelia St. Baptist Church, Orangeburg; Laurel Baptist Church, West Columbia; Gethsemane Baptist Church, St. Matthews; and Bethune Baptist Church, Bethune. He was currently employed as Comptroller of Burns Auto Parts, Columbia, SC.
Rev. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia where he was serving as chairman of Deacons. He was also active in the music and youth ministries of the church.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Jennings Johnson; son, Ronald Allen Johnson; grandsons, Christopher Johnson, Brandon Johnson (Shannon), and Jeffrey Johnson; daughter-in-law, Cindy Johnson Bozard; great grandchildren, Kaylee,
Hunter and Brianna; sister, Dellaree Johnson McDaniel; brother, Charles E. Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. Johnson was preceded in death by his son, John Mark Johnson and brother, James Gabriel Johnson.
