WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Estelle “Jack” Hall will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Dr. Pete Cassidy. Interment will follow at Elmwood cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Hall’s nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Hope Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:30 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agape Hospice of Midlands, 805 Buff St., West Columbia, SC 29169.
Mrs. Hall, widow of James E. “Ed” Hall, Sr., passed away Monday, February 13, 2012. born in Fairfield County, SC, she was a daughter of the late John English Reynolds and Kisiah Branham Reynolds. She was retired from Bankers Trust (Bank of America) after 38 years of service. Mrs. Hall was the first drive in teller in South Carolina, working for Congaree Bank in West Columbia where she received many awards for her selling ability. She was a member of State Street Baptist Church for 67 years, working with WMU, and teaching her peers until her health failed her. Mrs. Hall was a past Worthy Matron and life time member of New Brookland Chapter 104, OES Sinclair Lodge #154, Widows Club Prime Time and a former member of the senior choir for State Street Baptist Church and Young Hearts.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her two daughters, Joanne Hall Wilson and Marilyn K. Hall of Cayce; sisters, Dorothy M. Geddings of Blythewood, and Ruby Kanatzar (Dale) of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Kathy (Doug) Moore of Cocoa, FL and Jeff Wilson (Melanie) of Cumming, GA; two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; also a number of nieces and nephews who will miss her. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by a son, James E. “Bill” Hall, Jr., sisters, Ollie Lee Loftin, Thelma Haygood, and Ethel Reynolds, brothers, Heyward, Jake, Horace “Bud”, Pete and Elliott Reynolds.

WEST COLUMBIA - The Stamps and Hook Families are very sad to report the death of Mike Stamps, 63, who died suddenly February 13th, 2012. The family will receive friends at Thompson’s Funeral Home of Lexington, Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00, and the funeral will be at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 17, 2012, officiated by Rev. Phil Lavendar and Rev. David Day. Honorary pallbearers will be the families from Longbeard Farm and Southern Medical Lasers.
Mike leaves behind the love of his life, Jan Hook Stamps, his wife of 41 years, and 2 sons with their wives; Todd and Beth Stamps, and granddaughter Hannah, of Isle of Palms, and Patrick and Stacey Stamps of West Columbia, and Carlos Harris.
Mike was born January 7, 1949 in Carrolton, Georgia but was a lifelong resident of West Columbia. He was the son of Eva Jacobs Stamps and the late George Wesley Stamps, and the 2nd son of 5 children: the late Doug Stamps(Wanda), Dickie Stamps (Gloria), Dale Wells (Irvin), and the late Robin Stamps (Denise). He loved his many nieces and nephews: Teresa Fredrick (John), Kim Kelly (Mitch), Tonya Stamps, Heather Wells, Alan Wells, Tyler Smith, and Taylor Smith. He was also blessed with great nieces and nephews: Wesley and Addison Fredrick, Caitlin and Morgan Kelly, and Ashlynn Stamps.
Mike also dearly loved his Hook Family, his in-laws the late George Lee Hook and Helen Rae Hook, Phil Hook (Kim), Debbie Whetstone (Ben), Tammie Francis (Steve), and Pat Cassels (Tobin); and nieces and nephews: Jennifer Jackson (Grant), Hans Whetstone (Laura), Kelli Hook (Eric Griffin), Katie Brodowski (Jonathon) and Rustin and Toby Cassels. His great nieces and nephews are; Ava and Leila Jackson, Ford and Will Whetstone, JT Brodowski, and Lilly Griffin. Mike lived his life being an example of love and kindness, faith and service, fun and adventure, and especially of family.
Mike graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1967, and from The University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. His pharmacy career began at Richland Memorial Hospital, and the Ambulatory Care Clinic, which led him to start his niche business, Southern Anesthesia and Surgical. This business allowed Mike to share success with so many employees, who became his ‘Southern Family’. His current company is Southern Medical Lasers. He was privileged to have worked with many special business associates throughout the years. Mike lived life to the fullest. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist church, where he served in many various leadership positions. Most recently he was active in a Downtown Men’s Bible Study, a long time member of the Gamecock Club, and the Coastal Conservation Association. He especially enjoyed sharing ‘Big Blue’ and Long Beard Farm with family and friends. Mike Stamps was a faithful servant who enriched the lives of so many with his love, his time and talents, and his God given resources.

Wade C. Lorick

WEST COLUMBIA — A graveside service for Wade C. Lorick, 83, of West Columbia, will be held Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. J. Wayne Smith, Jr. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
Mr. Lorick passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012. born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Wade H. Lorick and Mary F. Lorick. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served with pride and honor “Semper Fi”. Wade was a retired contractor.
Surviving are daughters, Debbie L. Gunter (Guy) of Columbia and Tammie L. Bloxom of Lexington; sons, Wade C. Lorick, Jr. of Columbia, Stan G. Lorick (Tammy) of Chapin and Jody T. Lorick (Sandy) of Fountain Inn; sister, Margie Howell (John) of Cayce and a brother, Carroll Lorick (Claudette) of West Columbia; and twelve loving grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Skolfield and a brother, John Lorick.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Lorick’s honor to Dorn VA Medical Center Voluntary Service, 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209.

James ‘Jimmy’ C. Brown
PENDLETON - James ‘Jimmy’ Calvin Brown, 69, died Friday, February 9, 2007. He was the son of the late Vernie Lee and Berthie Cheeves Brown. He was a retired construction worker.
He is survived by sons: Michael J. Brown of Pendleton and Donnie M. Brown of Athens, AL; stepson Charles D. Gillespie of Belton; brothers: Larry E. Brown of Huntsville, AL and Gilbert Brown of Gurley, AL; sisters: Ella R. Webb of Gurley, AL, Barbara Smith of Athens, AL, Jennifer Hambrick and Lavonne Jetton of Harvest, AL and Vivian Robertson of Lincoln County, TN; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Peggy Jane Littleton of Pendleton, brother, Vernie L. Brown, Jr. and a sister, Gail Brown.
A graveside service will be held at Fants Grove Baptist Church cemetery on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 4pm. The family is at the home of a son, Mike Brown, 210 Central Road, Apt. 115, Pendleton, SC 29670

MARY C. PEARSON
PENDLETON - Mary Crenshaw Pearson, 85, of 712 Crenshaw Street and widow of Warren D. Pearson, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 7, 2007. She was born in Pendleton, a daughter of the late Martin and Eva Newton Crenshaw. She was a former school teacher, homemaker and partner in the family business. She was a member of Pendleton United Methodist Church where she served in various positions and was a member of the Pendleton Garden Club. She also was a founding member of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood Club. Surviving are two sons, Joe Pearson of Pendleton and Pastor Steve Pearson and his wife, Sue of Lexington, Kentucky; grandsons, Josh and Adam Pearson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Warren, James and Leard Crenshaw. Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday at Pendleton United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The body is at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, and will be placed in the church at 2 PM Sunday prior to the service. MELVIN LONG
CENTRAL, SC - Melvin C. Long, 74, husband of Anne Browning Long, died Friday, February 9, 2007. born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James A. and Bertha Coleman Long. He was formerly employed with Clemson University as Director of Public Relations. Mr. Long was a member of First Baptist Church in Clemson and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Amy Fogle, Cindy Reagle, and five grandchildren. Private services were held. Gray Mortuary, Pelzer was in charge of arrangements.

KENNETH AARON HALL
GREENVILLE - Kenneth Aaron Hall, 47, of 224 Riverbend Road, Greenville, died on Saturday, February 17, 2007. born in Anderson, he was a son of the late William Oliver and Nancy Frances Moorman Hall. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Seawolf. Mr. Hall was formerly employed by the U.S. Government, working as a machinist at the San Francisco, CA Mint. Surviving are two sisters, Pamela Kierce and her husband Buddy, of Anderson, and Cindi Hastings and her husband Ricky, of Iva; a brother, Dennis Williams and his wife Sharon, of the home, and two step-sisters, Pam Dingle and Debra Roach, both of Anderson. Mr. Hall had three special care givers - Maria Lopez, Jessica Dingee and Latisha Martin. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest at 6:30 pm on Tuesday. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5:00 to 6:15 pm. Memorials may be made to the South Carolina Spinal Cord Injury Research Fund at the University of South Carolina, Columbia SC 29208. DR. CHARNER W. BRAMLETT
Capt. US Navy, Ret.
SPARTANBURG - Dr. Charner Williams Bramlett (Capt. US Navy, Ret.), of Spartanburg, died suddenly in Costa Rica on Sunday, February 11, 2007, while attending a seminar. He was born in Charleston, SC, and was the son of the late Charner Scaife and Lora Williams Bramlett. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and The Citadel (Class of 1951), where he was a lifetime member of Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor Society, and from Duke University Medical School. Dr. Bramlett completed his internship at Duke University with a semester in pediatrics at Oxford University, England. Part of his surgery residency was at Duke University and the remaining at Bethesda Naval Hospital, Washington, D.C. He was a member of The American College of Surgery. His tours of duty included Bethesda Naval Hospital, Charleston Naval Hospital, and two carriers, USS Shangri-La and USS Enterprise. He served as Commanding Officer of Naval Hospitals in Beaufort, SC, Guam, and Memphis, TN. During the Viet Nam War, the Navy sent him to Washington, D.C. to learn the Vietnamese language in order to train Vietnamese doctors in proper surgery procedure and set up surgical units in Saigon. Dr. Bramlett was a member of the Rotary Club of Spartanburg where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and of other organizations. He was an avid duplicate bridge player at the Weir Group. Since his retirement, he has audited courses at Wofford College in Spanish and German, and has heard his lifelong love of Wagnerian Opera, The Ring Cycle, seven times. One of his treasures was the musical score of the operas given to him by the late Alia Lawson. He was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Circle, a participant in the Converse College Steinway Initiative, and a member of the Converse College Friends of Petrie School of Music. Dr. Bramlett is survived by his sister, Dr. Betty Bramlett; his two beloved cats, Sally and Winston Churchill; his longtime friend, Angie Liakos, Ret. Captain US Navy, San Diego, CA, and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent. Burial with full military rites will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary Escort will be Rotarian tablemates. Gahr, 78, husband of Margaret Cartee Gahr of 102 Springdale Dr. died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate. born in St. Mary's PA, he was the son of the late Jerome George and Salome Emma Knight Gahr. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, a US Air Force Veteran and a member of the American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife are: daughters, Gretchen Goodwin of Easley and Allison Ivester of Anderson; step-daughters, Anita Fowler of Starr and Cindy Barnes of Belton; 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Ann McGill and sister, Jane Rubino. Services will be held 12pm Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mitch Brooks and Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Old Silver Brook cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11am until 12pm Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home. PELZER - Madeline Betty McCombs Bannister, 76, formerly of Pelzer, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Palmetto Health Baptist in Easley. born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Ethel Brock McCombs. She was a homemaker and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Burton of Pelzer, Kathy Smith of Williamston, Tammy Thompson of Clayton, NC; two sons, Tony Bannister of West Pelzer, Stephen Bannister of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Marie Looper of Pelzer, Grace Morgan of West Pelzer; brother, Lloyd McCombs of Pelzer; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2pm Wednesday at Pine Lawn cemetery, Pelzer by Rev. Jimmy Smith. MR. RONNIE COOLEY
BELTON - Mr. Ronnie Cooley, age 50, of 260 Murphy Road, Belton SC, died Saturday, February 17, 2007 at The Hospice of The Upstate. He was born in Anderson County and was the son of the late Clayton Cooley and Ruby Wynonia Cooley. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and was on the Male Chorus and a former member of the Trustee and Usher Board. He was preceded in death by one brother Arthur Cooley. Survivors include his wife, Lisha Cooley; one daughter, Carmen Cooley; one son, Nicholas Cooley all of the home; six sisters, Jacqueline Brock of Anderson SC, Thelma Johnson of Walterboro S.C., Swanson Woods of Allendale SC, Ruby Cooley of Belton SC, Mildred Robinson of Atlanta GA, and Willie Carroll of Pittsburgh PA; two brothers, Samuel Cooley and John W. Cooley both of Belton SC. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at the New Hope Baptist church. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. MAULDIN - James H. Westmoreland, Sr., 82, of 113 Old Keith Court, Mauldin, died February 18, 2007. born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Louis V. Westmoreland and Pauline Herron Westmoreland, and husband of Sara Cox Westmoreland. Mr. Westmoreland was a retired truck driver and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Harry Kent of Iva, Lynne and Steve Murrell of Simpsonville, JoAnne and Ken Raycroft of The Woodlands, TX; a son, James H. Westmoreland, Jr. of Simpsonville; eight grandchildren, Angela and Chris Lee, Bryan and Tonia Kent, Stacy Murrell, Katelyn Murrell, Patrick McGinnis, Zachary Westmoreland, John Raycroft and Sarah Raycroft; five great-grandchildren, Caroline, Mikayla, and Grace Kent, Nathaniel and Nicholas Lee. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with visitation prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Family will be at the residence.
