Bobby Cohens Williams
Bobby Cohens Williams, 70, of Springfield, died May 22, 2010 after a brief illness.
Funeral Service was held May 25 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with burial in the Springfield cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Williams was born in Orangeburg County. He was the son of the late E.J. Williams and Lila Mae Chavis Williams. He was a truck driver and owned and operated Bobby’s Boiled Peanuts in Springfield. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Springfield. He was predeceased in death by a brother, Eddie Joe Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Hutto Williams of the home; daughters, Joyce Langen of Mo., Penny (Kenneth) Lawing of Spartanburg, Renae (Tony) Bowman of Springfield; sons, Ernest Ray (Susan) Williams of Blackville, Roger (Sheryl) Williams of Springfield and Kenny (Cathy) Hutto of Springfield; brothers, Floyd (Patsy) Williams and Ray (Deirdre) Williams all of Springfield, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rufus Gillie Croft
Rufus Gillie Croft, 78, of Barnwell, died suddenly Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm May 26 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. George Johnson and Rev. Richard McWhite officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Co. Memorial cemetery at the airport.
Mr. Croft was born in Barnwell County on July 5, 1931. He was a son of the late Gillie Lee and Annie Lou Still Croft. He was a retired merchant. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a member of the masons and a former member of the SC National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Black Croft, his daughter, Brenda (Roger) Williams, his brother, Duist (Patricia) Croft, his sisters, Sally (Everette) Carter, Adaree (Jack) Morris, Ann Jones, all of Barnwell; seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Terry Croft and a brother Andrew Croft.
Paulette V. G. Phinn
Paulette V. G. Phinn, 18, of Barnwell, died May 17, 2010 in Coconut Creek, Fla.
Funeral service was held May 22 at Guinyard-Butler Middle School gymnasium with burial in the Hope Memorial Park. Guinyard and Sons’s Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Phinn was the daughter of John Williams and Charlene Yolanda Phinn-Williams.
Survivors include her parents; three brothers, Michael C. Betty Butler, 70, of Barnwell, died May 5, 2010 at the University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral service was held May 10 at Bell Pond Baptist Church, Williston with the Rev. Eugene Dabis officiating. Simmons Funeral Home of Williston, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Butler was born May 13, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Clayton Baxley and Louise Youngblood. She was a member of the Bell Pond Baptist Church. She was predeceased by two children, Leroy Mays and Ronia Mays.
Survivors include one daughter, Ila (Lee) Thomas of Windsor; two sons, Frank Jackson and Michael Jackson, both of Barnwell; three sisters, Mary Youngblood, Mary Ann Butler and Barbara Youngblood of Williston; eight brothers, George Jacob, Lewis (Brenda) Youngblood, Arthur Youngblood, Larry Youngblood, all of Jersey City N. J., Leon Youngblood, Leo Youngblood, Jimmy Youngblood, Tommy Lee Youngblood, all of Williston; one aunt, Eartha Smith of Jersey City, N. J.; one daughter-in-law, Daisy Mays of Blackville; a special cousin, Mary Ann Johnson of White Pond; a special friend and health care person, Levern Anderson; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
George Edwin ‘Buck’ Salter Sr.
George Edwin “Buck” Salter Sr., 64, of Barnwell, died May 13, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Salter was born Oct. 9, 1945 in Millen, Ga. He was the son of the late James R. and Luereather Crews Salter. He was a retired sales representative for Brecht Pacific Publishing Co. He served in the US Navy Seebees during the Viet Nam Era. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Wilson Salter of Barnwell; two sons, Edwin Salter of Ft. Meyers Fla. and Chris Salter of Charleston; one brother, James Earl Salter Jr. of Augusta Ga.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Lijah ‘Boo’ Johnson Jr.
Lijah “Boo”Johnson Jr., 49, of Blackville, died May 8, 2010 at the Barnwell County Hospital after a sudden illness.
Funeral service was held May 14 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Blackville with the Revs. Allen Keitt and Moses Bryant, Bishop Dennis Pernell and Elder George S. Burckhalter officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park cemetery, Barnwell.
Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 14, 1960 in Barnwell County. He was the son of Mary E. Johnson and the late Lijah Johnson Sr. He was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Blackville. He was an employee for Diverse Company.
Survivors include four daughters, Shantina, Keanna, Brandi and Shaquanna Johnson, all of Denmark; his mother of Blackville; six sisters, Eartha (Woodrow) Hammond, Linda Johnson and Wanda (Victor) Jones, all of Blackville, Shirley (Tony) Hill of Laurens, Shirley (Harry) Pierre-Mike of Boston, Mass. And Cindy Felder of Williston; six brothers, Larry Johnson, Tony Johnson and Gary Johnson, all of Blackville, Michael (Rosalyn) Johnson of Columbia, Curtis Johnson of Atlanta, Ga. and Shawn (Brandi) Johnson of Williston; a special friend, Tiffany Bradshaw of Blackville; three uncles; six aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mary A. Felder, 43, of Barnwell, died May 12, 2010 at the MCG Health System, Augusta, Ga.
Funeral service was held today, May 19 at Jordan Baptist Church, Barnwell. Burial was in the church cemetery. Guinyard and Son’s Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Felder was the daughter of the late Susanna Miller Smith and JB Robinson.
Survivors include two daughters, Tiffany and Nicole Felder, both of Barnwell; three sons, Brian and Stephon Robinson and Reginald Felder, all of Barnwell; one stepson, Altroy Brown of Bowman; one sister, Selma Robinson of Grayson, Ga.; three brothers, Bryant Robinson of St. Matthews, Senior Chief James Robinson of Virginia Beach, Va. and Odell Robinson of Grayson, Ga.; her mother-in-law, Mary Bell Felder of Bowman; two sisters-in-law, Gail (Richard) Brailey and Margaret Felder, both of Bowman; two brothers-in-law, Melvin (Terry) Felder of Bowman and Terry Felder of Orangeburg; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Susan Redden Harley
Susan Redden Harley, 84, of Union City, Ga., formerly of Hilda, died May 15, 2010 in a Union City, Ga. nursing facility.
Funeral service was held today, May 19 at the Denmark Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Harley officiating. Burial was in the Bamberg Memory Gardens. Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Harley was born July 30, 1925 in Hendersonville, N. C. She was the daughter of the late Elliott Monroe Redden and Susan Grace Cantrell Redden. She was the widow of Master Sgt. Jesse Julian Harley. She was a member of the Denmark Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Cecila Harley (Bryant) Mills of Fayetteville, Ga.; one son, Phillip Harley of Bluffton; one sister, Lorrine Paul of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gene Allen Williams
Funeral services for Gene Allen Williams, 56, of Williston, were held May 13, in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the Williston cemetery.
Fellow members of the Williston Rescue Squad served as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Williams died May 10, 2010.
born in Lexington, he was a son of Jessie Ball Williams and the late Verneil Williams. He was formerly employed at Dixie-Narco.
He was a member and director of the Williston Rescue Squad. He was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church.

Anna Crider “Mrs. Lib” Widener, 74, of Williston, died May 15, 2010 at her home.
Funeral service was held today, May 19, at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church cemetery in Windsor. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Widener was born in Bamberg County. She was the daughter of the late Counts Crider and Ellen Johnson Crider. She attended Denmark-Olar High School and was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. She was a sales clerk and a cashier. She was first married
to the late William Price Langford and the widow of J.P. Widener. She was predeceased by a sister Vonetta Blake, a brother, Bob Crider, and a grandson, Clint Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Greg) Yarbrough; three sons, Bill (Phyllis) Langford, Tommy (Cindy) Langford and Mike (Libby) Langford; three sisters, Sudie Carter, Susan Jeffcoat and Joann Walker; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Carol Suzanne Maynard Truitt
Carol Suzanne Maynard Truitt, 74, of Williston, died May 16, 2010.

Mrs. Truitt was born in Terre Haute, Ind. She was the daughter of the late John I. and Vivian Cade Maynard. She was Roman Catholic and attended the Williston Presbyterian Church. She was married
to the late Donald Edward Truitt, Sr. She was predeceased by brothers, Terry Maynard and Richard “Dick” Maynard.
Survivors include one daughter, Jonna Rae (Larry) Adcox; three sons, Karl F. (Ivy) Truitt, Donald E. (Cathryn) Truitt and Patrick S. (Rebecca) Truitt; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Virginia Christiansen Main
Virginia Christiansen Main, 82, died May 11, 2010 in the Bamberg County Nursing Home.
Funeral service was held May 14 at the First Baptist Church of Olar with the Revs. Dr. Wayne Lovett and Thomas Terry officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Mrs. Main was born Nov. 26, 1927 in Elko, Va. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Ellen Jacobsen Christiansen. She was the wife of Jimmie Dyches Main. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olar where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a WMU member. Mrs. Main was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Kayla Stanley.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie D. Main of Olar; two daughters, Mary Ellen (Morris) Williams of Blackville and Patsy (Danny), all of Fairfax; two brothers, Albert (Virginia) Christiansen of Ashland, Va. and Charles Henry (Betty) Christiansen of Elko, Va.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Janet Birt Keller
Janet Birt Keller, 52, died May 11, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service was held May 15 at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bert Baynham officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Keller was born Dec. 17, 1957 in Barnwell. She was the daughter of Tracey Boyles Birt and the late Gene Birt. She was the wife of Andrew Keller. She was an isotopic assay operator at the Savannah River Site and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew “Andy” Keller; two sons, Andrew (Katrina) Keller and Justin (Rissa) Keller, both of Savannah, Ga.; one daughter, Mandy (Damian) Thorn of Jackson; her mother of Barnwell and six grandchildren.

Cap L Harley, 78, of Blackville, died May 13, 2010 at the Aiken Regional Hospital.
Funeral service was held at Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. John Nixon and Marshall Still officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Harley was born Dec. 8, 1931 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Alex and Mattie Ray Harley. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He retired from Milliken with more than 30 years service and also worked for the Barnwell County landfill for several years. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Baxley Harley, one stepson, Larry Fail, one sister, Barbara Creech and a brother, Esley Harley.
Survivors include one stepson, Billy (Mary )Fail of Olar; one stepdaughter, Juanita Creech of Barnwell; one brother, J.C. Harley of Barnwell; four sisters, Eva (Earl) Brown of Barnwell, Betty (Richard) Gantt of Barnwell, Mary (Billy) Fail of Olar and Joyce (Larry) Bodiford of Williston; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
