Cynthia “Cyndy” Edwards
Cynthia E. Boyer “Cyndy” Edwards, 66, of Aiken died May 7, 2010 at Palmetto Richland Hospital.
Services will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Interment will take place at Calvary cemetery and will be private for family members. George's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Galax, VA and raised in Bedford, VA. She spent most of her adult life in Barnwell, SC and she moved to Aiken in 2003 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a son; Peter Anthony “Tony” Zionkowski and his wife Susie of Aiken, a daughter; Michele McDermott and her husband Jay of Aiken; a brother, Edward Boyer of Green Cove Springs, FL and a sister, Linda Markham of Okeechobee, FL and five grandchildren.

Larry Baxter
Lawrence Arthur Baxter, 62, passed away on May 8, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta, Ga.
Larry was born on Jan. 19, 1948 in Augusta Ga. He was the son of Thelma Harley Baxter and the late Arthur S. Baxter. He was a member of the class of 1966 at Barnwell High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam war. He was a member of the Barnwell United Methodist Church, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Unit #1650 and the Aiken Co. Triple Crown Wings.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12 at the Barnwell United Methodist Church with Rev. Joey McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery on Hagood Avenue.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Baxter; his mother, Thelma H. Baxter; and his sister, Sheryl Baxter, all of Barnwell. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Baxter.

Alex T. Clamp
Alexander “Alex” Tully Clamp, 65, of Williston, died May 8, 2010.
Funeral service was held May 11 at Barnwell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Clamp officiating. Burial was at the Williston cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Clamp was born May 9, 1944. He was raised in Salley and was a resident of Williston for 32 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen C. Clamp, of Salley. He worked as a meat market manager for many years throughout South Carolina. Due to a vision disease, Alex was forced to take early retirement. He was a life member of the Orangeburg Elks Lodge 897, a Master Mason and member of Hope Lodge No. 126, and a charter member of the Williston men’s prayer breakfast. He and his family were active members of both Williston and Barnwell First Baptist churches.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Alexia “Lexie” Corder Clamp of Williston; five sons: Craig (Kathy) of Columbia, Calvin (Gail) of Aiken, Lee (Leisa) of Barnwell, Len (Nicole) of Charlotte, N.C. and Luke (Alecia) of Lexington; his father, Pennell T. Clamp of Salley; one brother, Pennell M. Clamp of Folly Beach; two sisters, Jane Graziano of Isle of Palms and Martha Witt of Waldport, Ore.; an aunt, Maxine C. Weathersby of Salley; his mother-in-law, Helen Corder Keisler of Williston; seven grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.

George Billy Bell
George Billy Bell, 81, of Windsor, died April 24, 2009.
Graveside service was held April 27 at the Windsor First Baptist Church cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bell was born in Windsor. He was the son of the late Albert and Nora Byars Bell. He was married
to the late Frances Brock Bell. He was an airforce veteran, a member of the S. C. Council of Conservative Citizens, and English teacher and retired from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth A. Bell; brothers, Bonnie and Shirlo Bell; a grandson, Kenneth Allen Bell and a great-granddaughter, Danielle McDonald.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Sue Ingram of Windsor and Helen Watson of Belton; one son, Charles Bell of Windsor; one sister, Doris Robinson; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
John Frank Brant Sr.
John Frank Brant Sr., 78, of Ulmer, died April 26, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral service was held April 28 at Great Salkehatchie Baptist Church with the Revs. Fred Orr, Harold Kirkland and Dean Deer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Keith Smith Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brant was a native of Ulmer. He was the son of the late Maynard D. and Janie Stephens Brant. He retired from Milliken in Barnwell after 35 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Great Salkehatchie Baptist Church, Ulmer. He was predeceased by one brother, Wofford M. Brant.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Strickland Brant; one son, John Frank "Bubba" (Sherry) Brant Jr.; two daughters, Brenda B. (Doug) Hightower and Robin B. (Michael) Hogg, all of Ulmer; two sisters, Douglas B. (Jim) Lemaster of Neeses and Alice B. (Bill) Bryan of Orangeburg; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his special companion, his dog, Buddy.

Anthony Recardo Brown
Anthony Recardo Brown, 38, died April 11, 2009.
Funeral service was held April 17 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Barnwell. Burial was in the Barnwell County Memorial cemetery, Barnwell. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 12, 1971 in Barnwell County. He was the son of Ashford and Dianne Brown of Williston.
Survivors include his wife, Ellawese R. Brown; two sisters, Sylvia Brown (Derrick B. Pressey) of Williston and Crystal L. Brown (Shahid R. Williams) of Walterboro; one sister-in-law, Jacqueline L. Richardson of Phenix City, Ala.; four nephews; four nieces; five aunts and eight uncles.
Simplicio Legarreta "Papi" Colon
Simplicio Legarreta "Papi" Colon, 82, of Barnwell, died April 8, 2009 a the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service was held with military honors, 30 years of service, April 10 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaufort. Burial was in the Beaufort Memorial cemetery. McAlister Smith Funeral Home in Charleston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Colon was born in Lares, Pureto Rico. He was the son of the late Fermin Legarreta and the late Cruz Legarreta Colon of Lares, Pureto Rico. He retired from the Police department in San Juan, Pureto Rico after 30 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Cesiash B. Rios of Pureto Rico and Cibeth (Paul) Cook of Beaufort; two sisters, Margot Legarreta of Chicago, Ill. and Iris Legarreta of Hatillo, Puerto Rico; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Robert Lee "Bob" Doyle
Robert Lee "Bob" Doyle, 47, of Windsor, died April 22, 2009 at his residence.
Memorial service was held April 27 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Doyle was born in Charleston. He was the son of the late James Doyle and Mary Rogers Doyle Fearn. He was a truck driver and worked construction.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Yoder Doyle of the home; one daughter, Savannah Reynolds; one son, Robert Lee (Wende) Doyle II, all of Goose Creek; his step father, Richard Fearn; two sisters, Deobrah Nelson and Terri Oliver; four brothers, James, Steve and Mike Doyle and Larry Fearn and one grandson.
Keith Thomas Hunt
Keith Thomas Hunt, 46, died in a boating accident, April 21, 2009 at Lake Marion, Eutawville.
Funeral service with military honors was held April 27 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Revs. Rommie Martin and Ken Dodson officiating. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hunt was born in Sumter. He was the son of Alice Kelly Hunt Vest and the late Dallas Banks Hunt.
Mr. Hunt enlisted in the Army National Guard and after serving two years joined the Navy in 1982. He served for eleven years as a petty officer 3rd class. He served during the Persian Gulf War and received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Bronze Star, the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon and a Good Conduct medal. He honorably served his country for 13 years. After leaving the Navy he was employed by NIBCO, Inc. as a troubleshooter leadman in the moulding department until the plant closed in 2007.
Mr. Hunt was predeceased by his father, Dallas Banks Hunt, his "Daddy", Charles L. Vest, grandparents, Grady and Sallie Hunt, Jessie and Janie Kelly and Curtis and Fern Vest.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Inez Alicea Hunt of Olar; two sons, Brian (Kayla) Hunt of Augusta Ga. and Austin Lee Hunt of Olar; five daughters, Tiffany (Ron) Zieman of Barnwell, Angela (Thomas) Creighton of Aiken, Amanda (RJ) Refuerzo of Virginia Beach, Va., Shelby Lynn Hunt and Ruby Renee Hunt of Olar; his mother of Barnwell; three sisters, Sallie (Leon) Zorn of Barnwell, Debra Martin of Denmark and Becky (Mark) Sandifer of Barnwell; seven grandchildren; a special friend, Chuck (Taska) Burbage and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pearl Jacobs
Pearl Jacobs, 77, of Barnwell, died April 22, 2009.
Funeral service was held April 26 at St. John Baptist Church, Barnwell, with the Rev. Audrey Lofton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Jacobs was born March 29, 1932 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of the late Ellis and Inez Hunter Jacobs Sr. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board and the choir.
Survivors include one son, Lennon Jacobs; one sister, Annie Ruth Jacobs of Barnwell; two brothers, Roosevelt Jacobs of Brooklyn, N. Y. and John T. (Ethel) Odom of Barnwell; one brother-in-law, Alfonza Jenkins; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Aaron Frank Kelly
Sgt. Aaron Frank Kelly, 60, U. S. Marine Corps, ret., died April 21, 2009.
Funeral service was held April 26 at Mercer Funeral Home in Denmark with the Rev. Ken Catoe officiating.
Sgt. Kelly was born June 29, 1948 in Sumter. He was the son of the late Jesse William and Janie Wilson Kelly. He retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of the VFW and the New Turf Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Kelly of Norway; one sister, Alice Vest of Olar; and two brothers, Jimmy Kelly and Sam Kelly of Sumter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Eddie L. Moore, Jr.
Eddie L. Moore, Jr., 32, of Columbia, died April 7, 2009 in Spring Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral service was held April 16 at Miller Swamp Baptist Church, Fairfax with burial in the All cemetery, Allendale. Allendale Community Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Moore was born Jan. 22, 1977 in Allendale County. He was the son of Albertha Moore of Allendale and the late Eddie Lee Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Vanita Johnson-Moore; two children, Montrevel Dunbar and Steve Clark Jr.; siblings, Louise (Augustus) Dantzler of Philadelphia, Pa., Andrea (Cory) Rollins of Rinson, Ga.; Latasha (Terrin) Rivens of Lexington and Gerald Fitts of Allendale.
Doris Reed Rushton
Doris Reed Rushton, 86, of North Augusta, died April 17, 2009.
Funeral service was held April 19 at First Baptist Church of North Augusta with Drs. Randy Cooper and Gary C. Redding officiating. Burial was in the Pineview Memorial Park. Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Rushton was a native of Barnwell having made North Augusta her home for the past 57 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta. She was a past Sunday school director in the youth department, past vacation Bible school director, former WMU director, a member of the Sheffield Club and was very active in church missions. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilson Rushton and a daughter, Karen Elaine.
Survivors include three sons, Tom Rushton Jr. of North Augusta, Verne (Shirley) Rushton of North Augusta and Clifford (Beverly) Rushton of Graniteville; two brothers, Rubert Reed of Blackville and John Reed of Central; two sisters, Vernelle Hair of Barnwell and Margie Deer of Olar; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Armistead Crenshaw
Mary Armistead Crenshaw, 77, died Aug. 30, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Crenshaw was born April 3, 1932 in Richmond, Va. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Ellen Parrish Armistead. She was the widow of Charles W. Crenshaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church.
