Cheryl Ann Buice Barnes
Cheryl "Cheri" Ann Buice Barnes, 54, of Williston, died Dec. 1, 2009.
Funeral service was held Dec. 3 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with burial in the Williston cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of James Marion Buice Sr. and the late Rebecca Starnes Wegner. She retired from the VA Medical Center, Augusta, Ga.
Survivors include her husband, John Thomas Barnes of the home; her father, Jim (Ruby) Buice of Williston; one sister, Janet B. (Jerry) Nesmith of North Charleston; two brothers, Tim (Sallie) Buice of Lexington and Jim "Pop" (Laura) Buice of Williston; sisters-in-law, Leslie (Sherwell) Carey of Martinez, Ga. and Judy (J. W.) Jones of Augusta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Gilbert (Lacy) Barnes of Augusta, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Sarah Louise Davenport
Sarah Louise Davenport, 53, of Barnwell, died Dec. 1, 2009 in Orangeburg.
Funeral service was held Dec. 5 at Guinyard Butler Middle School auditorium with burial in the Jones cemetery-Jones family plot. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Davenport was the daughter of the late L. C. Brown and Ruth Dixon. She was employed with Barnwell School District No. 45.
Survivors include two daughters, Taneyha Forman of Charleston and Jenice Jones of Barnwell; one son, Demetris Wright of Columbia; a special friend, David Brown of Barnwell and three grandchildren.
Gearl Martin Collins Jr.
Gearl Martin Collins, Jr., 46, died November 23, 2009.
Funeral services were held Nov. 28, 2009 at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, West. Interment was held in Oconee Memorial Park.
A native of Barnwell, he was the son of Gearl Martin Collins, Sr. of Aiken and Shirley Ann Powell Collins of Barnwell.
He was the grandson of the late Azilee and Sammie Collins and the late Verdia Sheets, all of Barnwell.
In 1998, Dr. Collins earned his doctorate of education from the University of Georgia and taught agriculture science education and was the FFA advisor for 20 years at Greene County High School. Dr. Collins was also an Eagle Scout.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Beth Collins; two children, Sam Collins and Katie Collins, all of Watkinsville; brother, Mitchell (Kirsten) Collins and their son, Mason, all of Aiken.
Ronald Green
Ronald Green, 53, of Williston, died Dec. 31, 2009.
Funeral service was held Jan. 3, 2010 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Green was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Ray Green Jr. and Betty Lou Hunter Green Kernaghan. He worked at Dixie-Narco in quality control. He helped coach little league T-Ball and soccer for the Town of Williston and was a Baptist. He was predeceased by a sister, Cindy Green; two brothers, William Ray "Slugger" Green and Donnie Green and a stepfather, Frank John Kernaghan Jr.
Mildred Joyner Colquitt
Mildred Joyner Colquitt, 81, of Barnwell, died Dec. 29, 2009 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral service was held Jan. 1, 2010 at the Hilda First Baptist Church with the Revs. Gerry Williams and Gene Long officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Colquitt was born May 5, 1928 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Leatha Zissette Joyner. She was a member of the Hilda First Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. C.W. Colquitt; a sister, Anna Fail, and a brother, Pat Joyner.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathie (Ricky) Messex and Arthurleen Waltz; one son, Mike Colquitt of Barnwell; two sisters Evelyn Price of Atlanta Ga. and Myrtle Larson of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bradley P. "Brad" Brown
Bradley P. "Brad" Brown, 48, of Barnwell, died Dec. 24, 2009.
Memorial service was held Dec. 29 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jerry DuBose officiating. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown was born Aug. 25, 1961 in Gadsen, Ala. He was the son of the late Jack B. and Jean Huie Brown. He was an employee of Bartlett Nuclear Inc. He was a Mason and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was the former owner of the Bear Cave Trading Post retail shop. He was predeceased by a brother, James V. Brown of Rockwood, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Paula L. Brown of Blackville; two daughters, Lesly Erin (Justin) Cooper of Fort Richardson, Alaska and Sara Elizabeth (Josh) Campbell of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Camella B. (Frank) Black of Barnwell and Jeanne Lyle Cumbie of North Carolina; one grandson, Joseph Cooper; nieces and nephews, special friends, Louis Claytor of Barnwell, Steve Williamson of South Daytona Beach, Fla. and Lauren Moss of Rockford Ill.

Wesley Odom
Wesley Odom, 82, of Barnwell, died Dec. 20, 2009 at the Laurel Bay Nursing Home in Williston.
Funeral service was held Dec. 27 at Jordan Baptist Church, Barnwell, with the Rev. Christopher Harley officiating. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Odom was born July 23, 1927. He was the son of the late Anna Sturgis Odom. He was a member of Jordan Baptist Church where he was active in the choir and other church committees. He was employed for several years as a truck driver in Jersey City. He was married
to the late Pearline Glover Odom. He was predeceased by three children.
Survivors include his wife, Earnestine Odom of the home; one brother, John (Marie) Jenkins of Brunswick, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Geneva Daniels of New Jersey, N. J., Patricia Gibson of Barnwell and Michelle (John) Reed of Barnwell; two step sons, Vincent Gibson of Titusville, Fla., and Clyde Gibson of Barnwell; his mother-in-law, Easter Miller of Barnwell; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
McGee "Mac" Bodiford
McGee "Mac" Bodiford, 60, of Barnwell, died Dec. 29, 2009.
Funeral service was held Jan. 1, 2010 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, with burial in the Barnwell County Memorial cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bodiford was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of Elma Ruth Ayer Bodiford and the late McLaurin "Mack" Bodiford. He was a navy veteran who served during the Vietnam conflict. He was retired from the Savannah River Site. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. He was owner of Metal Art and Collectibles. He was preceded in death by a nephew Barry Lain.
Survivors include his wife Alma Hutto Bodiford of the home; one daughter, Kathy B. (Robert) Fox of Williston; four sisters, Sybile (Russell) Lain, Nellie Rosier, Arie (Bill) Murphy, all of Barnwell and Dianne (Bill) Barber of Boone, N.C.; five brothers, Jacky Bodiford of Barnwell, James (Faye) Bodiford of Lexington, Ray (Peggy) Bodiford of Long Branch, Donnie Bodiford of North and Roy Bodiford of Siler City, N.C.; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Sam Hammonds
Sam Hammonds, 79, died Dec. 11, 2009.
Funeral service was held Dec. 19, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Blackville, with the Rev. Dr. Herman Wallace officiating. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hammonds was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Blackville. He was the son of the late John Hammonds and Viola Trottie. He worked for Roth Farm in Belle Glade, Fla.
Survivors include one son, Willie P. Hammonds of Williston; five daughters, Samella Rivers of South Bay, Fla., Lois Williams of Belle Glade, Fla., Gloria Hammonds of Goldsboro, N. C., Sabrina Gilmore of Sailsbury, Md. And Michelle Hall of Dublin, Ga.; one son-in-law, Ricky Artis of Pikeville, N. C.; one brother, Mathews Hammonds of Blackville; one niece; 33 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Billy Gene Creech
Billy Gene Creech, 73, of Blackville, died Dec. 23, 2009.
The funeral service was held Dec. 26 at Blackville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Creech was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Ben F. Creech, Sr. and Adelle Still Creech. He retired from Savannah River Site as a safety engineer and an analytical chemical technician. He was a member of Blackville First Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons, church treasurer, former Brotherhood director and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Blackville Civic Group, Barnwell County DSS Board and was treasurer for Friends of the Library. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ben F. Creech, Jr., Ruby Creech and Rev. Jimmy Creech.

Juanita Fields Brant
Juanita Fields Brant, 93, of Barnwell, died Dec. 25, 2009 at the Brian Nursing Center, Columbia.
Funeral service was held Dec. 27 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Mew, Alfred Still and Mark Epperson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Brant was born Nov. 19, 1916 in Bamberg County. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Annie Elizabeth Parker Fields. She was the widow of James B. Brant. She was predeceased by a daughter; Linda B. Creech; a son, Jimmy Brant and a grandson, Jimmy Brant. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school and led the WMU for many. She also made quilts for children that were sent overseas to orphanages.
Survivors include one daughter, Anne B. Atkins of Barnwell; two sons, Robert (Bobby) Brant of Barnwell and Dean (Marie) Brant of West Columbia; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Eddie Weathersbee Jr.
Eddie "Edison" Weathersbee Jr., 69, died Dec. 13, 2009.
Funeral service was held Dec. 20 at Forest Level Baptist Church, Forest, Va. with John Wilder and the Rev. Terry Echols officiating. Burial was in the Great Cypress Baptist Church cemetery, Barnwell. The Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Weathersbee was born Jan. 8, 1940 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Eddie and Catherine Weathersbee. He was employed by the East Orange, N. J., Board of Education for 26 years. He found leadership and fellowship at Forest Level Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Ann Weathersbee; one son, Edward Weathersbee; one stepdaughter, Karen Crute; two sisters, Emma Myers of Barnwell and Dora Bush of East Orange, N. J.; devoted aunts, Alma Fredrick and Hattie Gibson; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
George Edwin Cave Jr.
George Edwin “Boe” Cave Jr., 82, died Nov. 24, 2010 in the Bamberg County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Nov. 28 in the First Baptist Church of Olar. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cave was born in Bamberg. He was the son of the late George E. Cave Sr. and Ada Bishop Cave. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Cave Cousar and a great niece, Katalin Leigh Cousar. He attended North Greenville College and until his illness was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Olar. For over 30 years Boe faithfully delivered “The State” to the people of Olar.
Survivors include one nephew, William A. “Al” Cousar Jr. and a niece, Georgee Claire “Gigi” Mills of Sylvania GA.
