Dorothy Wilkes McEwen Treadaway
Dorothy “Dottie” Wilkes McEwen Treadaway, 83, died Nov. 22, 2010 at her home in Barnwell, surrounded by her family and friends.
Graveside service was held Nov. 26 at the Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill. McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Treadaway was born in Chester County and resided in Mint Hill, N.C. for over 55 years. She was the daughter of the late Mary Kluttz and Robert Walker Wilkes of Chester. She was predeceased by her former husband, Raymond Jack McEwen of Mint Hill. She was formerly employed by Buick Motor Division’s Zone Office and by the General Electric Corporation. She was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill and was a member and past president of the church choir. Most recently, Dottie was a member of the Dave Harris Sunday School Class at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was an outstanding artist and painter.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce S. Treadaway of Fort Mill; sons, Samuel Robert (Robyn) McEwen of Leesville; and Raymond Jack (Debbie) McEwen, Jr. of Barnwell; two sisters, Mary (Robert F. James) Wilkes of Charlotte and Eliza Wilkes Means of Sunset Beach, N.C.; one brother, Robert Walker (Catherine) Wilkes, Jr. of Chester; nephews, nieces and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, 11501 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
Richard Eugene Stockman
Mr. Richard Eugene Stockman, 67, of Tega Cay, died Nov. 21, 2010 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill.
Funeral service was private. Palmetto Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fort Mill was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Stockman was born in Titusville, Pa. He was the son of the late Donald Stockman and Patricia Ordway Stockman. He was a Consultant with the US Government in the Energy Dept.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Spence Stockman of the home; three sons, Michael (Amy) Stockman of Tega Cay, Matthew (Cindy) Stockman of Laurens and Chance Stockman of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Blair Stockman of Laurens; his mother, Patricia Stockman of Seattle, Wash.; three brothers, Robert Stockman of California, John Stockman of Seattle, Wash. and Hank Stockman of Seattle, Wash. and five grandchildren.

Eugene ‘Tommy’ Redd
Eugene “Tommy” Redd, 89, of Windsor, died Nov. 29, 2010
Funeral service was held today, Dec. 1 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Burial was in Mt. Beulah Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Redd was born in Windsor. He was the son of the late Herman and Daisy Cushman Redd. He was married
to the late Elizabeth Juanita Parker Redd. He was a retired farmer and formerly worked at SRP for EI DuPont as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Lee Gantt, Jerri Youmans; brother, Clifton Redd; grandson, Donnie Miller.
Survivors include two sons, Reggie Redd of Williston and Marshall Redd of Windsor; one daughter, Eva R. Wahl of Windsor; five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Heyward E. Johnson
Heyward E. Johnson, 80, of Blackville, died Nov. 8, 2010.
Funeral service was held Nov. 15 at the Sunshine Baptist Church, Blackville with burial in the church cemetery. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Soloman and Mamie Johnson.
Survivors include his children, Karl (Vernice) Johnson and Jeanette (Les) Hasley; sisters-in-law, Mary and Verna Johnson, Naomi Wright, Dorothy Ridley, Evelyn Williamson, Doris Smith, Lucille Miller, Gloria, Mae and Mary Bush; brothers-in-law, Bowman Patrick Jr., Lester Smith, David Miller, Norris, Donald and Freddie Bush; a caring nephew, David Patrick; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sandra Modgling McNeely
Sandra Modgling McNeely, 57, of Williston, died Nov. 27, 2010.
Graveside service was held Nov. 28 at the Williston cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. McNeely was born in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Alice Owens Modgling. She formerly worked at the University of South Carolina-Aiken in the cafeteria and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley M. Dunbar and a brother, Jimmy Modgling.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight David McNeely; one son, Thomas Billy Givens; one daughter, Jami-Lee Brown; an aunt; two brothers-in-law, Freddie and Alton McNeely; one sister-in-law, Susie Kay McNeely.
Vincent L. Lempp
Vincent L. Lempp, 88, of Springfield, died Nov. 27, 2010.
Graveside service was held Nov. 29 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Springfield with the Rev. John Yario officiating. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Lempp was born in New York. He was the son of George Lempp and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Bartie Barr.
Survivors include Pam and Mack Kennerly, Audie and Tracy Cooper, Harold and Corean Bell.
Ellis Moncrieft
Ellis Moncrieft, 54, of Elko, died Nov. 22, 2010 at MCG Health System, Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Moncrieft was born March 8, 1956 in Bamberg County. He was the son of the late Joseph and Elise Moncrieft. He was a member of the Honey Ford Baptist Church. He was employed in the fiberglass industry. He was predeceased by one brother, Elmore Moncrieft.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Moncrieft of the home; three children, Sabrina, Demetrius and Zaria; one step son, Tyrall Kinard; six sisters, Martha, Marilyn, (his twin) Ellen (Elmore) Hosey, Reeda, Mary and Virginia; six brothers, Joseph (Lillian), Charles, Henry, Mitchell (Tonya), Tyrone (Gwendolyn) and Carl; four sisters-in-law, Cathy (Wayne) Robinson, Janet Ozzie Redingburg, Nadine Overton and Yolanda (Lonzo) Rivers; two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Bridget) Porter and Anthony (Devita) Porter; four aunts and three grandchildren

Sheddrick Lamont Carter, 34, of Blackville, died Nov. 12, 2010.
Funeral service was held Nov. 20 at Guinyard-Butler Middle School with burial in the Hope Memorial Park cemetery, Barnwell. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Carter was the son of Cornelia Miller and Earnest Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Mandy Carter; his mother, Cornelia (John Bradley) Miller of Barnwell; his father, Earnest Carter of Columbia; two daughters, Nechyna and Makenna; one brother, Quan Carter of Columbia; two sisters, Shannon (Ricky) Williams of Aiken and Candice Carter of Columbia; maternal grandparent, Lillie Bell Miller of Barnwell; paternal grandparent, Willie Mae Carter of Barnwell; a special cousin, Michelle Miller of Barnwell; four nieces and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.
Eunice E. Brown
Eunice E. Brown, 76, of Barnwell, died Nov. 22, 2010 at MCG Health System, Augusta, Ga.
Funeral service was held Nov. 27 at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Barnwell, with burial in the church cemetery. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Brown was born Feb. 8, 1934 in Allendale County. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Nette Devoe Gill. She was married
to the late Edgar Taylor Brown Sr. She was a member of the Brown Chapel Baptist Church with her husband serving in the deaconess, missionary and senior choir ministries. She was employed with the Barnwell County Hospital for 30 years, the Office on Aging and Ducane for many years. She also worked in Home health nursing. She was chartering bus trips for 32 years and was a member of the Pride of Barnwell No. 77 Order of Eastern Star for 51 years. She was predeceased by three children.
Survivors include eight children, Rondy (Robin) Brown, Barbara (LC) Buggs, Joyce Heyward and Edgar Brown Jr., of Barnwell, Annette (Harry) Felder of Blackville, Edie (Keith) Dailey of Columbia, Sharon Brown of Beaufort and Don Brown of Atlanta, Ga.; two special sons and a daughter in her home, Steve (Valarie) Steward of Fredericksburg, Va., Roosevelt (Cynthia) Holman of West Palm Beach, Va. and Christie Bell Bloom of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Margaret Lofton of New York; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law, Earnest Brown, Bezlee (Alberta) Brown, Polly Brown, Blanche (Troy) Long, Adell Bell of New York and Viola (Leroy) Steward of Bear, De..; sister-in-law, Adell Black of Savannah, Ga. and Lottie Gill of Barnwell; 29 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Cornelius ‘Hank’ Hankerson Sr.
Cornelius “Hank” Hankerson Sr., 85, of St. Augustine, Fla. and formerly of Barnwell, died Nov. 3, 2010 at the Samantha R. Wilson Care Center in St. Augustine, Fla.
Graveside service was held Nov. 13 at Hankerson cemetery on Jordan Road in Red Oak section of Barnwell, with the Rev. Harris Barker officiating. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hankerson was born Oct. 5, 1025 in Barnwell County. He was the son of Rene Ayers Hankerson and the late Isreal Hankerson. He was a member of Greater St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church and retired from the Fairchild Corporation.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris (Rob) and Emma (Bee), both of Jacksonville, Fla.; six sons, Cornelius Hankerson Jr. of Miami, Fla., Bernard Hankerson, Keith (Priscilla) Hankerson, Horace Hankerson, Erich (Cheryl) Terry and Tyrone Terry, all of St. Augustine, Fla.; his mother; one sister-in-law, Ruthel Hankerson of St. Augustine, Fla.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Vera Lee Chavous
Vera Lee Chavous, 94, of Estill and formerly of Barnwell, died Nov. 4, 2010 at the Heritage Nursing Center of Estill.
Funeral service was held Nov. 13 at the Sweetwater Baptist Church of Barnwell, with the Revs. Benjamin Ryans and Bennie Wiggins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Chavous was born Nov. 17, 1916 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of the late Linsey and Lila Lee. She was married
to the late Ester (Doll) Chavous. She was a member of Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Vera Mae Staley; one son, Joseph (Patricia) Chavous of Greenville; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Sara English Pressey Kirkland
Sara English Pressey Kirkland, 76, of Barnwell, died Nov. 8, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Nov. 14 at Second Baptist Church of Barnwell with the Revs. Phillip Thomas and Isaiah Odom officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park, Barnwell. Guinyard and Son’s Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Kirkland was born Dec. 23, 1933 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of the late James Pressey and Marie Hutto Pressey Rivers. She was married
to the late Hercules Kirkland for 32 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served on the Usher board and sang in the Gospel choir for 32 years. She was employed with E. T. Barwick and Milliken, Inc. as a weaver until retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Kirkland and Gale K. (James) Williams, both of Barnwell; one son, Rickey Kirkland of Barnwell; six brothers, Woodrow (Clestine) Pressey and Robert (Ella) Pressey of Bradenton, Fla., Sheton Pressey, Teddy (Deloise) Pressey, Ned (Carolyn) Rivers III and Kenneth Rivers; one sister, Betty Sign of Barnwell; an aunt, Lucreta Sanders of Barnwell; two special daughters, Mary L. Hammonds and Margie Harris, both of Barnwell; two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Mary Ella Bryant Dickerson
Mary Ella Bryant Dickerson, 54, of Olar, died Nov. 10, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Nov. 15 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Olar, with burial in the church cemetery. Dash’s Funeral Home of Blackville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Dickerson was born Dec. 16, 1955 in Brooklyn, N. Y. She was the daughter of the late Sammie and Leola Bryant Taylor Jr. She attend the Bethel Holiness Church in Barnwell. She worked with the Abounding Home Health Care Agency.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Henry Lee Dickerson of the home; two sisters, Dolly Taylor and Deloris Dickerson of Olar; two brothers, Henry Homer (Joann) Taylor of Williston and Robbie (Deborah) Taylor of Bamberg; four sister-in-laws; five brother-on-laws and other relatives and friends.
Laurise Martin Still
Laurise Martin Still, 88, of Barnwell, died Nov. 13, 2010 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Mr. Still was born on Sept. 15, 1922 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Martin and Ella Joyner Still. He was a retired employee of Milliken and Company and a farmer. He was a member of the Mount Lebanon Christian Church. He was predeceased by his siblings, Pearline Harley, Elizabeth Rowell, Ervin Still, Azilee Collins, Elloree Croft, Frances Gunnells, Vernice Grubbs and Ruben Still.
Funeral service was held Nov. 15 at the Mount Lebanon Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Zelma Grubbs Still of Barnwell; two sons, Clifford Still and Tony Still of Barnwell; one sister, Betty (O’Neal) Croft of Barnwell; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
