Sally Wilson
Sally Wilson, 93, of Barnwell, died Oct. 16, 2010.
Graveside service will be held Oct. 21 at the Barnwell County Memory Gardens with the Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Timmonsville. She was the daughter of the late Issac T. Lockhart and Mary Ella Mims Lockhart. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Rosa Ham Lockhart, a brother, four sisters, a son, a granddaughter and a son-in-law. She was married
to the late H.C. Wilson, and a long time resident of Barnwell. She was a retired RN of 26 years and a member of the Barnwell First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Tim (Lynn) Wilson of Butler, Tenn.; two daughters, Sally Sanders of Covington, Ga. and Martha (Elmer) Weeks of Aiken; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of loving friends.
Sonya Marie Hawkins Bodiford
Sonya Marie Hawkins Bodiford, 39, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at her residence in Barnwell.
Mrs. Bodiford was born on March 14, 1971 in Petersburg, VA. She was the daughter of Richard Hawkins, Sr. and the late Patsy Davis. She was the manager of the Pressing Club in Barnwell and loved the outdoors especially fishing.
Graveside services were held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Barnwell County Memorial cemetery, with Rev. Tim Edmunds officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Bodiford, son Tucker Cheek, father, Richard Hawkins, Sr., brother, Richard Hawkins, Jr. and her two precious dogs, Sam and Bo.
Doris Hazel Cone Baxter
Doris Hazel Cone Baxter, 85, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010.
Funeral service was held Oct. 8 at Fairfax First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Sizemore officiating. Burial was in the Fairfax cemetery. Keith Smith Funeral Service of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Baxter was a native of Fairfax. She was the daughter of Emmett G. and Maude Wise Cone. She was the widow of John Milton Baxter. She worked at Gatlin's Red and White and Fairfax Bank and Trust. She volunteered at the Fairfax Library and was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church where she and in the choir. She was predeceased by four brothers, Charles Cone, Terance Cone, Leonard Cone and Lewis Cone and four sisters, Elizabeth C. Kittrell, Gwendolyn C. Holly, Dorothy C. Cowherd and Nelle C. Johnston.
Survivors include two sons, Charles "Mike" (Janice) Baxter and Rhett M. (Gail) Baxter both of Pinkens; one daughter, Elaine B. (Ron) Paul of Aiken; one sister, Betty Ruth C. Gatlin of Fairfax and six grandchildren.

Sara Camille Griffin Thomas, died Oct. 1, 2010.

Mrs. Thomas was born Dec. 13, 1912, near Ulmer. She was the daughter of John Matthew and Mary Pauline Myrick Griffin. She was the widow of Harry Johnny Thomas, Sr. She was predeceased by her children, H.J. (Jacky) Thomas Jr., James Donald (Don) Thomas, Sr., and Sara Carolyn Thomas England, her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Rayner Thomas, her son-in-law, Dr. James E. England, Jr., her grandson, James E. (Jimmy) England III, her great-grandson, William Thomas (Billy) Stone, her sister, Mary Edith Griffin and her brothers, Arthur Cave Griffin and John Myrick Griffin.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Mike) Herring of Bamberg and Camille Thomas of Barnwell, one daughter-in-law, Jo Ellen Reeves Thomas of Allendale, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Florrie Rachel Carter Dooley
Florrie Rachel Carter Dooley, 96, of Barnwell, died Oct. 2, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Oct. 5 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Dillon, with the Revs. Dr. Charles F. Dooley, Dexter Lambert, Edgar Foster and Billy McLellan officiating. Burial was in the Greenlawn cemetery, Dillon. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Dooley was born in Marion. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Bertha Christmas Carter. She was married
to the late Melvin Charles Dooley. She was a retired LPN having worked at Marion Memorial Hospital for many years and formally worked for Bell South Telephone Company. She served in the Christian ministry for over 55 years, was in the senior adult Lighthouse Sunday school class, formally taught the teen boys Sunday school class, she was director of the woman's missionary union, girls auxiliary, vacation bible school, and Christian education director, and was in the adult choir. Served as a Cub Scout den mother and was a Boy Scout leader. Mrs. Dooley was preceded in death by brothers, Harry, Bryan, Luke and Foster Carter.
Survivors include one son, Charles (Janice) Dooley, Sr. of Barnwell; one sister, Christine (Leon) Morris of Dillon; one brother, Don (Carol) Dooley of Sellersburg, IN; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Lizzie Sweat, and special friends, Elizabeth Cook, Rita Edwards and Phyllis Barry.
Georgia Mae Gray Hutto
Georgia Mae Gray Hutto, 93, of Olar, died Oct. 8, 2010 at Pepperhill Nursing Home in Aiken.
Funeral service was held Oct. 10 at the First Baptist Church of Olar with the Revs. Wayne Lovette and James Irick officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hutto was born Sept. 27, 1917 in Blackville. She was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Bessie Lee Dyches Gray. She was the widower of John H. Hutto. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Olar before moving to Williston. She was predeceased by daughters, Bessie Mae Hutto Berry, Sara G. Williams and Mary G. Smith; brothers, Ulysees, George and David Gray.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny H. (Jewell) Hutto of Williston and H. Wayman (Pam) Hutto of Chapin; one son-in-law, Vernon Berry of Smoaks; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mildred ‘Millie' Lundy Smoak
Mildred "Millie" Lundy Smoak, 79 of Denmark, died Oct. 8, 2010 in Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral service was held Oct. 11 at The First Baptist Church of Denmark with the Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial was in the Bamberg Memory Gardens cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Smoak was born May 3, 1931 in Springfield. She was the daughter of the late G. Frank and Elizabeth Bridges Lundy Sr. She was the widower of Francis Guy "Snookie" Smoak. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Denmark and a former Sunday school teacher, church organist and church historian. She retired from teaching after 32 years in Blackville, Ehrhardt and Barnwell. She was predeceased by a sister Betty Lundy Appleby.
Survivors include one daughter, Millicent (Bobby) Peeler of Edgefield; one brother, G. Frank (Adeline) Lundy Jr. of Columbia; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Deborah ‘Debbie' Louise Bodiford
Deborah (Debbie) Louise Bodiford, 50, of Williston, died Oct. 7, 2010.
Funeral service was held Oct. 10 at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Barnwell County Memorial cemetery (Airport) following the services. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bodiford was born May 30, 1960 in Charlottesville, Va. and relocated with her family to Olar, in 1975. She was predeceased by her father, Donald E. Yates.
Survivors include one son, Ralph Eric Bodiford; two daughters, Rebecca Sue Bodiford and Raven Louise Bodiford of the home; her mother, June Farmer Yates of Barnwell; two brothers, Carl Wayne Yates (Laurie) of Camden and Charles Randell Yates (Sandra) of Columbia; one aunt and three uncles.
Roland Hiers
Herman Roland Hiers, 70, of Blackville, died Oct. 9, 2010 at the University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Hiers was born July 24, 1940 in Charleston. He was the son of the late Calvin and Lois Hutto Hiers. He was a retired body shop owner and a member of Hilda Southern Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children, Audrey H. Still of Blackville, Mark (Tammie) Hiers of Blackville, Tracey Hutson of Barnwell and Marty Ballard Sr. of Lexington; step children, Clifton Stone of Barnwell, Robin Holder, Marie Roberts and Cindy Stone of North Carolina; one brother, Arthur (Annette) Hiers of Hilda; 18 grandchildren and three great-grand children, and a special friend, Dixie Harmon.

Margaret Benton Lairsey
Margaret Benton Lairsey, 79, of Thomasville Ga. and formerly of Barnwell died Oct. 6, 2010 at the Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.
Funeral service was held Oct. 9 at the Barnwell First Assembly of God with the Revs. Brent Welch and Donnie Weaver officiating. Burial was in the Barnwell County Memorial cemetery at the airport. Mole Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Lairsey was born Sept. 22, 1931 in Thomasville Ga. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Lizzie Busbee Benton. She was predeceased by her husband James R. Lairsey. She retired with 20 plus years service as a nursing assistant with the Barnwell County Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, David (Pam) Spears of Evansville IN., Rick (Jane) Lairsey of Preston MD. and Keith (Debbie) Lairsey of Mt. Olive Ala.; brothers, Wesley (Sandra) Benton of Apopka Fla., J.L. (Winnifred) Benton of Powdersville and Eugene (B.J.) Benton of Melbourne Fla.; three sisters, Marie (Jack) Kirby of Barnwell, Deoris Vinson of Ochlocknee Ga., and Evelyn Roberts of Destin Fla.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Otis Randy Truett
Otis Randy Truett, 49, of Barnwell, died Oct. 5, 2010.
Funeral service was held Oct. 9 at Mt. Lebanon Christian Chruch, Barnwell. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Truett was born in Darlington County. He was the son of Betty Gainey Truett and the late Otis Truett. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Christian Church, was a certified electrician and worked for Daniel's Construction Company.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Grubbs of the home; two daughters, Ashley Truett of Bishopville and Angela Chavis of Barnwell; one sister, Sharon Truett; one brother, Joe Truett, both of Bishopville and three grandchildren.
Earl Edward ‘Bub' Wiser
Earl Edward Wiser, 65, of Williston, died October 8, 2010.
In honoring his wishes, Bub will be cremated and no services will be held. Hatcher Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Wiser was born in and a resident of Carson City, MI, most of his life. He was the son of the late Earl Edwin Wiser and Elizabeth Ann Tow Fletcher. He was the former owner of Wiser Construction. He and Roberta had lived in Ruskin, FL, prior to making Williston, home in 2007. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Roberta Lee Wiser; children, Billy Schultheiss, Durango, CO, Robert Schultheiss, Henderson, Nev., Martin Ross Wiser, Atlanta, Ga., Stephen Garrett, Ortonville, MI and James Garrett, Vancouver, WA.; sisters, Elizabeth Peacock, Alto, MI, Beverly Christiansen, Stanton, MI and Carol Barnes, Grand Ledge, MI; several other nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren.

Rachell Nichole Stevens Bailey, 27, of Williston, died Sept. 28, 2010.
Funeral service was held Oct. 1 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with the Rev. Floyd Dukes officiating. Burial was in the Edisto Baptist Church cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Barnwell. She was the daughter of Ilaina Mayer and Johnny Scarborough of Williston and Thomas H. and Linda Stevens, Jr. of Sullivan, N. H. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward Mayer, Sr., Ben and Margaret Best and Mary Lou Stevens.
Survivors include her husband, Brandon Bailey; two daughters, Scarlett Bailey of the home and Alexis Bomher of Duncan; one son, Christopher Cormier of Sullivan, N. H.; one brother, Jarett Stevens of Sullivan, N. H.; two step-brothers, David Cormier of Sullivan, N. H. and Anthony Cormier of Westmoreland, N. H.; paternal grandfather, Thomas Stevens, Sr. and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
James E. Dotson
James E. Dotson, 71, Martinez, Ga., died Sept. 24, 2010.
Memorial Service was held Oct. 1 at Mt. Arnon Baptist Church in Allendale with the Rev. Mike Catoe officiating. Keith Smith Funeral Service of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Dotson was a native of Waynesville, N.C. He was the son of Lowell E. and Ola Blazer Dotson. He was the husband of Linda Ann Dotson He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran and had retired from Mulherin Lumber Company after 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ann Dotson and one son, Bryan Dotson both of Martinez.
