Edsel Eugene Kinsler
Edsel Eugene Kinsler, 58, died May 7, 2010 at Trinity Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral service was held May 13 at Crowe’s Funeral Home’s Inc. of Jamaica; N. Y. was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Kinsler was born Oct. 20, 1951 in Jamaica, N. Y. He was the son of the late Edsel Ford Kinsler and Mildred Beck Spigner. He was employed with the New York Telephone Company now known as Verizon, as a cable splicer technician for 20 years. He returned home to Barnwell in 1998. He was predeceased by one brother, Melvin Nesbitt.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Kinsler; two children, TaNasha Kinsler and Taknealia (James) Peacock; his stepmother, Doris Kinsler; two brothers, Robert (Gloria) and Steven (Suzanne) Kinsler; his stepmother in-law, Ardell Howard; six brothers-in-law, Anthonoy )Zaida) and George (Sheila) Stone, , Gregory (Sonia), Gerald (Angela), Clinton (Barbarta) Howard and Winfred (Ernestine) Davis; five sisters-in-law, Gladys Nesbitt, Darlene ()Daniel) Tucker, Colleen (Alonzo) Jones, Vivan (Rod) Haney and Nettie (James) McIntosh; three aunts; one uncle; a cousin who was more like a sister, Brenda Reseau; a special friend, Helen Creech and five grandsons,

Dave Campfield Jr.
Dave Campfield Jr., 63, died May 15, 2010.
Funeral service was held May 22 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. James Jackson officiating. Burial was in the New Home Baptist Church cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Campfield was born Dec. 4, 1946 in Allendale County. He was the son of Dave and Bernice Campfield Sr. He was employed with Will Hall Company. He was married to the former Elizabeth Frederick. He was predeceased by three brothers, Cornelius Campfield, Benjamin Campfield and Johnny Jones and one brother-in-law, Willie Henry Frederick.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth F. Campfield of Barnwell; one daughter, Willie Mae Campfield and Benjamin Bellman, both of Barnwell; two sons, Elexander Campfield of Barnwell and David Campfield of North Augusta; his mother of Allendale; sisters, Catherine Bing of Somerset, N. J., Juliett (Melvin) Green of Appleton, Carrie Badger of Allendale, Rosa (Jimmy) Harvey of Hampton and Diane (Frankie) Williams of Brunson; brothers, George Campfield of Pelzer and Robert Campfield of Hampton; one sister-in-law, Earlene Frederick; a special friend, Ernest (Toeman) Workman; a special cousin, Monett Priester and one grandchild

Jannie Bell (Washington) Chinn
Jannie Bell (Washington) Chinn, 69, died May 19, 2010 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
Funeral service was held May 24 at Central Baptist Church, Denmark with the Rev. Alex Jefferson officiating. Burial was in the Denmark Community cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Chinn was born Jan. 6, 1941 in Bamberg County. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Sadell Hartwell Washington. She was married to the late Walter Chinn.
Survivors include two daughters, Tanya Faust of Denmark and Yvette R. Chin of Orangeburg; one son, Warren (Jenice) Washington of Atlanta, Ga.; two aunts; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Clara Louise Sanders
Clara Louise Sanders, 90, died May 8, 2010.
Funeral service was held May 14 at Second Baptist Church, Barnwell, with the Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park, Inc. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Sanders was born July 15, 1919 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of Louis Sanders and Jessie Glover Pinkney. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Jerry (Lizzy) Sanders Jr. of East Orange, N. J., Rubena Sanders of Glen Coe, N. Y. and Bobby Lee Sanders of Barnwell; grandchildren reared in the home, Dwayne Sanders of Brentwood, N. Y., Lacarol Johnson of Barnwell and Matilda Dandiels of Barnwell; two brothers, Julian (Delores) Sanders of Jersey City, N. J. and Earnest pinkney Jr. of Barnwell; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Worthy; an adopted daughter, Pearline P. Hankerson; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Tomika Sada ‘Mattie’ Brant
Tomika Sada “Mattie” Brant, 23, of Williston, died May 25, 2010 at the Bamberg County Hospital.
Funeral service was held May 30 at the Allendale Elementary School, Allendale with burial in the Priester cemetery, Ulmer. Heritage Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Brant was the daughter of Darryl Priester and Theresa Brant.
Survivors include two children, Zy-Quivonna Brooker and Zy-Quavian Cochran; her mother and father; special friend, Willis Robinson; two brothers, Jedediah McKnight and Darryl Moore of Allendale; two special brothers, Reginald Andre (Olivia) Bradley of Varnville and Antonio Bradley of Salsbury, Md.; three sisters, Latosha Brant of Allendale, Kawanda Brant of Denmark and Nakah McKnight of Fairfax; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

Yolanda Priscelle O’Neal
Yolanda Priscelle O’Neal, 26, of Martin, died May 18, 2010 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral service was held May 23 at St. Mary Baptist Church, Martin with burial in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church cemetery. Allendale Community Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. O’Neal was born Dec. 25, 1983 in Charleston County. She was the daughter of Harry O’Neal and Priscilla Brodus.
Survivors include her parents of Martin; one sister, Maria O’Neal of Barton; one brother, Harry O’Neal Jr. of Martin; maternal grandparents, Marie Brodus of Martin and Herman Brodus Sr. of Allendale; paternal grandfather, Benjamin Jessie O’Neal of Allendale and a host of relatives and friends.

Delores Williams Gleaton
Delores Williams Gleaton, 79, of Blackville, died March 9, 2011.
Funeral service was held March 11, 2011 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Burial was in the Springfield cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gleaton was born in Blackville. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Maybel Chavis Williams. She was a Christian and affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness Church, was a homemaker and worked at the Blossom Shop for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mozelle Tuttle, Pearl Brooks; brothers, Govan, Obie, Fletch, Morris, Russell Williams, and three grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, J. L. Gleaton of the home; five daughters, Helen (Floyd) Bruner, Shirley (Bruce) Baker, Nevalin (Steve) Davis, Ann (Dennis) Pernell and Laura (Knox) Hambright; three sons, John (Peggy) Gleaton, Jerry (Jean) Gleaton and Jimmy (Debbie) Gleaton; an adopted son, Norman (Roberta) Williams; one sister, Lucille Chavis; two brothers, Paul Williams and Cecil (Doris) Williams; 15 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Shirley D. Weaver
Shirley D. Weaver, of Barnwell, died.
Funeral service was held March 4 at St. Paul Baptist Church, Snelling with the Revs. John Young and Anthony F. Gadson officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park, Barnwell. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Weaver was born in Barnwell County. She was formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla. She received her education in Barnwell County Public Schools. She was a retired public school teacher.
Survivors include two sisters, Eleaise Neal of Barnwell and Ernestine Crawford of Miami, Fla.; the Triumvirate, Leon Holloway, the Revs. McKinley Neal and Anthony Gadson, all of Barnwell; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Eloise Blume Collins Delk
Eloise Blume Collins Delk, 88, of Olar, died March 9, 2011 at her daughter's home in Barnwell.
Funeral service was held March 12 at Memorial Baptist Church, Olar, with the Revs. Dan Boineau and Charles Mosier officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooner Funeral Home of Bamberg was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Delk was born April 24, 1922 in Bamberg County. She was the daughter of the late John Gary Evans Collins and the late Gertrude Rebecca Wilson Blume. She was married to the late John Henry Collins and the late John Henry Delk. She retired from National Fastener Zipper Plant after 33 years. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Olar. She was predeceased by a daughter, Grace Laverne Collins (Paul) Horton; brothers, Woodrow Wilson Blume and Ernest Leighton (Ruth) Blume; sisters, Lessie Mae Blume (Archie) DeHay, Virgina Lee Blume (Terry) Carroll and Mary Frances Blume and a great-grandchild, Michael Christopher Hutto.
Survivors include one son, William Gary "Billy" (Joyce) Collins; one daughter, Betty Jean Collins (Leon) Riddle; sisters, Johnie Ruth Blume (Johnny) DeHay, Irene Elizabeth Blume (Van Buren) Sanders and Daisy Lleuellyn Blume (Tom) Davis; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-granddaughter, and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 2607 Memorial Church Road, Olar, S.C. 29843.

Albert Perry Black, Sr.
Albert Perry Black Sr., 84, of Barnwell, died March 8, 2011 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral service was held March 10 at the First Baptist Church of Barnwell with the Revs. Posey Belcher and Keith Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Barnwell United Methodist Church cemetery Hagood Ave. Mole Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Black was born on Dec. 15, 1926 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late John Bunyan and Eva Blanton Black. He was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Miles Black and a brother, John Blanton Black. He was drafted into the US Army during WWII. When he returned from service, he became a partner with his father in Black's Dairy Farm. He retired from the dairy and became the City of Barnwell's first Zoning administrator and later became Barnwell's first City Administrator. He also served as a member of the Barnwell City Council. He was a member of the Barnwell First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and trustee. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge #17 where he was a Past Master.
Survivors include his wife, June Goodwin Black of Barnwell; four sons, Al (Connie) Black of Charleston, Steve (Amy) Black of Charleston, Ricky (Margo) Black of Barnwell and Rhett B. Black of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Carolina Honduras Health Foundation, 299 Jackson ST., Barnwell, S.C. 29812; Barnwell First Baptist Church, 161 Allen St.

Willie Moses Odom
Willie Moses Odom, 91, died Feb. 24, 2011 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral service was held March 5 at Ned Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Dukes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Odom was born Dec. 15, 1919 in Dunbarton. He was the son of the late William and Carrie Davis Odom. He was a member of Ned Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Odom of the home; one daughter, Marie Odom of Lilburn, Ga.; four sons, Willie (Carolyn) Odom Jr., the Rev. Nathaniel (Shirley) Odom and Ezekiel Odom, all of Elko, and Horace (Lois) Odom of Blackville; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Odom of Elko; three grandchildren raised as his own, Kelvin Odom, Michael (Sylvia) Odom and Jacqueline Odom (Lanear) Brown, all of Williston; six sisters, Berlease (Willie) Wright, Earlease Baker, Deloris Haggins, allof Lakeland Fla., Gladys (Joseph) Norris of Leohatchee, Ala., Careather Odom-Latimer-Pierre and Mae Bing who preceded him in death; six brothers, Charlie (G.E. Mary) Odom of Delray Beach, Fla., Archie (Margie) of Elko, William, Wilbert and James Odom, all of Delray Beach, Fla., who all preceded him in death; three sisters-in-law, Aleane Dunbar Badger of Martin, Minnie Dunbar Edwards of Hallandale, Fla. and Margie Odom of Elko; three brothers-in-law, Phillip Dunbar of Springfield and tow that preceded hi in death, James Edwards of Hallandale, Fla. and Benjamin Badger of Martin; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charles Allen Brown
Charles Allen Brown, 56, died Feb. 26, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service was held March 5 at Guinyard-Butler Middle School, Barnwell with the Rev. Harris T. Barker officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park cemetery, Barnwell. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 15, 1955 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Abraham and Mary (Odom) Brown. He was employed with Spiral Well Piping in Columbia. He was predeceased by a stepfather, Lonnie Odom; sister, Emily Williams and brothers, David Israel Brown, Harvey Hayes and James Edward.
Survivors include one daughter, LaShonda Patterson of the home; a loving partner of the home, Mamie Lee Murray; brothers, Philip (Linda) Brown of Kileen, Texas, Marion Brown of Jacksonville, Fla., Jerry Brown of Barnwell, Abraham (Janie) Brown of West Palm Beach, Fla., Cleveland (Mary) Brown of Pompano Beach, Fla., Leroy Brown of Meigs, Ga., and Richard (Diane) Brown of Barnwell; sisters, Mealinda (George) Gibson of Jacksonville, Fla. and Elizabeth Foreman of Barnwell; a special niece, SueAnn Williams of Barnwell; four stepchildren all of Denmark; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

James Loman ‘Jimmy’ Jowers
James Lowman “Jimmy” Jowers, 73, of Blackville died March 7, 2011.
Funeral service will be held March 10 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Burial will be in the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Jowers was born in Denmark. He was the son of the late Wilbur M. and Marion Porter Jowers. He was a US Navy veteran, retired from Kennedy Space Center after 34 years, was an IATSE Union member and was a member of Clear Lake Baptist Church in Cocoa, FL.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Brenda Moore Jowers; two daughters, Vicki Jowers (John) Simpson of Cocoa, Fla. and Kathy Jowers (Fred) Horton of Leesburg, Fla.; one sister, Judy Jowers (Mac) Renew of Irmo; two brothers, Lowell (Julie) Jowers of Barnwell and Steve (Karen) Jowers of Blackville; four grandchildren, Shandi Simpson, Brooke Shaffner, James Brandon Shaffner, Nolan Simpson and two great-grandchildren, Kambrie and Kayden Buck.
Memorials may be made to Memorial & Honor Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mary Jane ‘Carrie’ O’Berry
Mary Jane “Carrie” O’Berry, 62, of Allendale, died Feb. 27, 20111 at her residence.
Funeral service was held March 5 at Magdalene Christian Church with the Rev. Jerome Clark officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Allendale Community Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. O’Berry was born April 14, 1948 in Allendale County. She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Bertha Hicks Elmore.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Kearse, James (Stacey) Kearse and Perry Kearse; two stepsons, Susquie “Beacon” White and Russell Gillison; four brothers, Richard (Eva) Elmore, Wesley (Rose) Elmore Jr., Eugene Elmore and Charlie (Josephine) Elmore; three sisters, Ernestine Allen, Janie Roberts Elmore and Beulah (Arthur) Badger; a devoted companion, Sammie Dunbar Jr. and other relatives and friends.
