Albert ‘Sonny Boy’ Robinson
Albert “Sonny Boy” Robinson died Feb. 11, 2011 at the Pepper Hill Nursing Center in Aiken.
Funeral service was held Feb. 17 at Sweetwater Baptist Church, Barnwell with the Rev. John W. Young officiating. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Robinson was born Oct. 22, 1921 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Albert and Rosa Lee Roberts. He was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church. He retired from the Bechtel Power Company in October 1986.
Survivors include one sister, Thelma R. Walker; a devoted niece, Shirley A. Walker and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Evelyn Joyner Price
Evelyn Joyner Price, 90, of Marietta, Ga., died Feb. 17, 2010 in an Atlanta hospital.
Funeral service was held Feb. 20 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, with the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. Snow’s Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, Pio Nono Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Price was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Letha Mae Zissett Joyner of Olar. She was the wife of the late Albert W. Price of Macon, Ga. A native of Barnwell County, she had lived in Macon from 1949 to 2005 when she moved to the Atlanta area. She was retired from Keebler Bakery and was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church where she had been a member of the Faith Bible Class, the WMU and the Golden Reflection Choir. In the Atlanta area, she attended Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.
Survivors include her one son, James A. (Dianne W.) Price of Duluth; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, 1415 Bass Rd., Macon, Ga. 31210 or to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 858 High Street, Macon, Ga. 31201.

Leonard Marvin ‘L.M.’ Simmons
Rev. “L.M.” Simmons, 80, of Williston, died Feb. 18, 2011 in Ladson.
Funeral Service was held Feb. 21 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial in the Joyce Branch Section of the Williston cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
The Rev. Simmons was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Goldie Leroy and Idommie Bell Simmons. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired heavy equipment operator at the Savannah River Plant, a member of the Woodmen of the World and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Mae Benson.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Dean Lee Simmons; four daughters, Teresa Ann Simmons, Angelia Lee Simmons, Tammie Michelle Simmons and Sharon Alisa Simmons; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and dear friends, Lon, Tammy, Sara, Lee and Jeffrey Eidem.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 1077 Highway #39, Williston, SC 29853.

Mary Luvenia Livesay Grubbs
Mary Luvenia Livesay Grubbs, 86, of Blackville, died Feb. 10, 2011.
No services are planned at this time. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Grubbs was born in Lee County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Bruce L. Jones and Minnie Mae Livesay Jones. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by brothers, Claude H. Livesay and Clarence D. Jones.
Survivors include two brothers, Bobby J. Jones and Charlie B. Jones and a number of nieces and nephews.

Janie Mae Walker Boyd
Janie Mae Boyd, 90 of Windsor, died Feb. 20, 2011.
Funeral service was held Feb. 22 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Revs. Stan Adams and Tim Smart will be officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Aiken County. She was the daughter of the late Julious and Ella Pennington Walker Benson. She retired from the Medical College of Georgia. She was a member of the Silly Senior Band and attended Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Alonzo Boyd, Jr.; sisters, Julia Graves, Elise Stinson Rouse and Claudine Parrish and a brother, Major James Walker.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (James C.) Kaney and Judie (Geryl) Johnson, all of Windsor; one sister, Odessa Walters Barton of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Neil Benson of Langley; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church building fund 857 Mt. Beulah Rd., Windsor, SC 29856.

Doris Beeson Arnett
Doris Beeson Arnett, 83, of Barnwell, died Feb. 16, 2011 at UPAC of Barnwell.
Funeral service was held Feb. 19 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard McWhite officiating. Burial was in the Barnwell County Memorial cemetery at the airport with Eastern Star Rites accorded. Mole Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Arnett was born on Nov. 9, 1927 in Splendora, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Annie Laura Tucker Beeson. She was first married to the late Lester Godejohn and later to the late Philip “Cap” Arnett. She was predeceased by a son, Jerry Godejohn. She was a retired employee of Shuron Inc. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Harmony Hope Chapter Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Past Worthy Matron and Secretary. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of El Bab Shrine Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye (Don) Hughes of Columbia and Jenny (Ted) Mayo of Barnwell; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial maybe made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in care of Omar Shrine Center, 176 Patriots Point St., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

Arthur David Freeman
Arthur David Freeman, 83, of Jackson, died Feb. 11, 2011.
Funeral service was held Feb. 14 at the Hilda First Baptist Church, Hilda, with the Rev. Stephen Baughman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mole Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Freeman was born July 18, 1927 in Denmark. He was the son of the late Earl and Eula Hutto Freeman. He was first married to the late Thelma Morris Freeman and later to the late Margie Key Freeman. He was a retired employee of the Savannah River Plant and a member of the Hilda First Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sylvia Sanders, a grandson, Timothy Sanders and brothers, Ernest and Hammond Freeman.
Survivors include three children, Joyce (Roger) Hutto of Hilda, Kenneth (Judy) Freeman Sr. of Swansea and Brenda F. Owens of Aiken; one sister, Margaret Hutto of Denmark; one brother, Earl Freeman of Wrens Ga.; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great- great-grandchildren.

Clarence Eugene Heath
Clarence Eugene Heath, 79, of Williston died Feb. 13, 2011 at his residence.
Graveside funeral service was held Feb. 15 at the Williston cemetery with the Rev. Don Bates officiating. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Heath was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Clarence Eugene Heath, Sr. and Mattie Porter Heath. He was married to the late Ruth Burkett Heath, was a self-employed painter, a member of Seven Pines Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was predeceased by sons, Quince Edward Heath, Clifton Eugene Heath and sister, Ethel Clifton.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara H. (Arnold) Mathewes and Dena H. (Bryan) McConnell all of Charleston; two sisters, Margie Bates of Aiken and Alice Patricia Willford of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two brothers, Edward L. Heath of Greenville and Clifton Heath of Charleston and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Seven Pines Baptist Church Building Fund.

Sandra McNeely Walters
Sandra McNeely Walters, 72, of Williston, died Feb. 10, 2011 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service was held Feb.12 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Gunnells officiating. Burial was in the Barnwell County memorial cemetery at the airport. Mole Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Walters was born on Sept. 23, 1938 in Charleston W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Samuel C. and Aileen Ruffner McNeely.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Charles) Sutherland of Williston; one son, Robert B. (Pam) Walters of Blythewood; two brothers, Samuel H. “Buzzy” (Betty) McNeely and James R. (Judi) McNeely of Luray Va.; a loving friend of 26 years, George Renew of Williston; the father of her children, Fredrick B Walters Jr. of Deland Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests the memorials be made in Sandra’s memory to help offset the expenses of her last illness and mailed to Sandra Walters Memorials, 565 Ashleigh Rd., Williston SC 29853.

Benjamin ‘Bo Boy’ Badger Sr.
Benjamin “Bo Boy” Badger Sr., 82, of Martin, died Feb. 4, 2011 at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral service was held Feb. 13 at the Allendale Community Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Audrey Lofton officiating. Burial was in the Aiken-Badger cemetery of Martin. Allendale Community Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Badger was born on May 11, 1928 in Allendale County. He was the son of the late Robert and Rosa Lee Badger.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Badger of the home; four sons, James (Mary) Badger Sr., Jimmy (Cheryl) Badger, Benjamin (Vanessa) Badger Jr., all of Martin and Lorenzo (Linda) Badger of Sylvania, Ga.; two sisters, Ethel Drayton and Rosa Jackson, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Solomon Hosey Sr.
Solomon Hosey Sr. died Jan. 28, 2011
Funeral service was held Feb. 5 at St. Peter Baptist Church, Elko with the Revs. Alvin C. Settles Jr. and Nathaniel Odom officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hosey was born Nov. 20, 1952 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Inez Hosey Johnson and the late Henderson Hosey. He was in the National Guard armory for numerous years. He worked at the Williston Telephone Company for several years. He was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Chaka (Eric) Wilson of Barnwell, Towanda (Michael) Sanders of Williston, Inez Hosey of Williston and Sharie Hayward of Barnwell; six sons, Solomon Braxton of Elko, Colby Lee Hosey of Williston, Michael Jermaine Hosey of Williston, Tony Lee Berry of Elko, Vermell Parke of Blackville and Nicholas Smalls of Columbia; one brother, Elmore (Ellen) Hosey of Elko; two aunts, Wilhelmina King of Elko and Claretha Dicks of Williston; a special friend, Betty Patterson of Barnwell; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Beaulah Mae ‘Cat’ Glover
Beaulah Mae “Cat” Glover died Dec. 28, 2010.
Funeral service was held Jan. 3, 2011 at A. Barrett Funeral Services, Inc. and service of remembrance was held Jan. 5 at Second Baptist Church, Barnwell with the Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park cemetery, Barnwell. Guinyard and Son’s Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Glover was born Jan. 27, 1943. She attended Second Baptist Church of Barnwell until she left and went to Brooklyn, N. Y. at the age of 17. She worked as a home care attendant for 45 years until she retired. She was predeceased by six siblings, Robert Lee Ford, Alex Glover, Jumel Wilson, Mary Alice Jenkins, Elease White and Johnnie Lee Glover.
Survivors include one son, Ricky (Simone) Glover of Charlotte, N. C.; two daughters, Linda Glover of Williston and Joanne Douglas of Brooklyn, N. Y.; two adopted daughters, Tawanna and Lateema Boyd, both of Brooklyn, N. Y.; sisters, Lorraine Thompson, Mae Helen Winston and Clara Mae Glover, all of Ft. Myers, Fla., Lessie Burns of Coy, Ala., Viola Paulk of Milwaukee, Wis., Juliette Glover and Minnie Odom, both of Barnwell; one brother, Willie Glover of Williston; devoted friends, Alice Glover and Vivian McGriff of Brooklyn, N. Y. and Erma Johnson of Syracuse, N. Y.; one sister-in-law, Marthell Glover of Brooklyn, N. Y.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James Bennie Edwards Sr.
James Bennie Edwards Sr., 71, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Jan. 25, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral service was held Jan. 31 at Zion Grove Baptist Church, Millette with the Rev. Riley Brown officiating. Burial was in the Edwards family plot, Martin. Allendale Community Funeral Home of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Edwards was born Aug. 8, 1939 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Robbie and Daisy Edwards.

Martha Murdaugh Gadson
Martha Murdaugh Gadson, 65, of Barnwell, died Jan. 26, 2011 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Barnwell, with the Rev. Eugene Keitt Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Gardens, Barnwell. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Barton
Robert Barton, 58, of Summerville, died Jan. 28 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service was held Feb. 3 at the Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Barnwell, with burial in the Hope Memorial Park, Barnwell. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Barton was the son of the late Willie and Minnie Lee Barton Sr.
