Else S. Hathaway
Else S. Hathaway, 86, died Dec. 25, 2010 of Alzheimer’s disease at Regent Court in Corvallis, Ore.
A private service was held in Hilton Head with Larry Eckart of Island Lutheran Church officiating.
Mrs. Hathaway was born Sept. 8, 1924 in Hoffenheim, Germany. She was married
to Clarence M. Hathaway, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Clarence (Ed) Hathaway; two daughters, Inge (Rick) King and Katrina (Dale) Deal and four grandchildren.

Doris Platts Collins
Doris Platts Collins, 89, of Fairfax, died Dec. 25, 2010.
Graveside service was held Dec. 28 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. R.P. Hodge officiating.
Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late George Cromer and Marie Barnes Platts. She was the widow of William Graham (Red) Collins. She was retired as a waitress from the Holiday Inn Restaurant in Allendale. She was a life long member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the W.M.U. and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was predeceased by one grandson, Michael Platts; two sisters, Marion P. Cone and Edna P. Westbury.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda C. (Jim) Platts; one sister, Marie P. Jarrell; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Green
Betty J. Green was born October 11, 1936 in Williston. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn Kelly.
Mrs. Green departed this life Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Center, New York.
Betty was the secretary for MG Motors which she and her husband owned for 30 years. Sister Green was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church for 20 years. She was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai until her health began to decline. Sister Green participated in the Women's Ministry and was always willing to assist in any manner.
Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cathedral, Roosevelt, N.Y., with burial in the Greenfield cemetery, Uniondale, N.Y.
Sister Green leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Odell Green of Freeport, New York; one son, Willie C. Williams of Hempstead, New York; two daughters, Joyce B. Duarte of Aiken, and Odessa Griffin of Ridge Springs; one brother, George (Elouise) Kelly of Williston; one sister, Clyde (Benjamin) Mason of Wyandanch, New York; three grandchildren, Nicole Hughes of Columbia, Lorenzo Barton and Cornelius Barton of Ridge Springs; four great-grandchildren, Indigo Hughes, Alicia Barton, Devante Williams and Shandrey Bey; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones who will certainly miss her dearly.

Edward Boyd
Edward L. Boyd, 82, formerly of Williston, died December 24, 2014 at the Old Capital Inn Nursing Home in Louisville, Ga.
Edward was born December 28, 1931 in Williston. He was the son of the late Joseph Jefferson Boyd Sr. and Maedell Givens Boyd. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably discharged September 8, 1954.
Louise Bodiford
Funeral services for Louise Dyches Bodiford, 84, of Long Branch, were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Double Pond Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Williston and other times at the home of Jerry Bodiford on Hemlock Road in Barnwell.

Mrs. Bodiford passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014.
Elnora Williams
Mrs. Elnora H. Williams, 73, of Blackville, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2014 at her home in Blackville.
Funeral service was held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Blackville with the Reverends Herman Wallace, Sheldon Ray and Floyd Hughes Sr. officiating. Burial followed in the Hope Memorial cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elnora H. Williams was the daughter of the late Quincy Hammonds and Alberta Phoenix Hammonds.
Shellree Gaines Jr.
Celebration of life and love for Deacon Shellree Gaines Jr., 64, were held 12 noon, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Snelling, with Reverend John H Young officiating. Burial followed in the Hope Memorial cemetery.
Deacon Shellree Gaines Jr., was born November 26, 1950. He was the first of six sons born to the late Shellree Gaines Sr., and Clerease Sanders Gaines of Barnwell.
Elva Huggins
Mrs. Elva M. Huggins, 91, of Blackville, our loving mother, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 22, 2014 at her home.
Ronnie Grubbs Sr.
Ronnie Luther Grubbs Sr., 59, of Barnwell, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
Ronnie was born April 14, 1955 in Barnwell County. He was a son of the late Martin J. and Vernice Still Grubbs.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Reba Chavis Grubbs.
He was a retired employee with Bechtel Corp. Savannah River Site. He was an avid gardener and a loving father and grandfather.
Terry Rhinehart
A memorial service for Terry Roger Rhinehart, 58, of Blackville, was held 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Double Pond Baptist Church, Blackville, with Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 21 at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, and all other times at the Rhinehart River House.

Martha Sanders
Martha Skye Hook Sanders, 57, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the Georgia Regents Medical Center.
Skye was born January 13, 1957 in Columbia. She was a daughter of the late Lawrence Hook and Lois Mack Drafts. She was a former secretary with the Barnwell Public School System. She was a member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Dan Lackey
Daniel Martin Lackey "Dan" 64, of Barnwell, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 in Aiken.
Dan was born in Rome, Ga., May 5, 1950. He was the son of the late Joseph M. Lackey and the late Frances Rigdon Lackey Horton Bostick. He was co-owner of Anthony's restaurant in Barnwell. He was a loving husband, father, and papa.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Epperson officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
John B. Snelling Sr.
John B. Snelling Sr., 92, of Blythewood, died April 24, 2011 at Heartland of Columbia.
Funeral service was held April 29 at New Home Baptist Church, Barnwell, with burial in the church cemetery. Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Snelling was the son of the late Charles and Ruby R. Ransom.
Survivors include three children, Dr. Vivian ‘Sherill’ Brackett of Columbia, John Butler Snelling Jr. and Charles Snelling, both of Barnwell; sisters-in-law, Zepher Frederick, Ophra Hay, Ophair Carter and Dora Myrick; one brother-in-law, Malvin Coleman; a special cousin, Norman Brice; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a niece and three nephews.
William Duke Kight
William Duke Kight, 72, of Williston, died April 17, 2011 at his home.
Funeral service was held April 20 at the USC-Aiken Convocation Center. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Langley.
Mr. Kight was born June 26, 1938 in Cedartown, Georgia. He graduated from Williston-Elko High School, attended the University of South Carolina where he played football, and later received his Masters degree in Education from Western Carolina University in N.C. Following his graduation he accepted his first coaching position for the Mid Carolina Rebels in 1962 where he stayed for three years before moving on to the Cresent High School Tigers in 1965. In 1968, he and his family came to Graniteville where he coached until he become principal of Byrd Elementary. He served as an administrator for LBC High School and Leavelle McCampbell Middle School in Aiken County. In 1983 the family moved on to Williston where Duke took position as Superintendent of schools, he stayed with the district until his first retirement in 1991. From there he took his love for education to the private schools, serving as Headmaster of Jefferson Davis Academy in Blackville, S.C. until his second retirement eight years later. The last years of his life were spent mentoring students in the Aiken County Alternative schools. Duke gave 49 years to the students of South Carolina and considered each and every student his own child. Kight was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Graniteville, S.C., a former member of the Williston Lions Club, a University of South Carolina Letterman, an avid carpenter, gardener and enthusiastic Gamecock fan.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Carolyn Sue Scruggs Kight, three children, Dr. R. Carson Kight of Aiken, Kenneth D. (Susan) Kight of Barnwell, Jessica L. Kight of Williston, five grandchildren, Brad, Kirsten, Rachel, Drew, Blake, two grand dogs, Gwen, Jillien, and his four-legged best friend and companion, Andrew. He is the eldest son of the late William A. and Aline Denman Kight of North Augusta, S.C. and sibling to Rodney (Page) Kight, Rocky Kight, Melinda (Dr. David) Carter, Libby (David) Rushing, of North Augusta, Coni (Dr. Darrell) Bullington of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the late Kenneth A. Kight of North Augusta.

Mattie Mae Eubanks
Mattie Mae Eubanks, 81, of Williston, died April 24, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service was held April 30 at Samaria Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Anderson and Pastor Wendell C. Sims officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Fulmer’s Funeral Home of Springfield was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Eubanks was born Aug. 15, 1929 in Orangeburg County. She was the daughter of the late Sammie and Lizzie Williams. She was married
to the late Willie Eubanks Sr. She was a member of Samaria Baptist Church and the senior choir. She was employed with Laurel Bay Health Care of Williston.
Survivors include one son, Willie Eubanks Jr.; daughters, Daisy (Bruce) Barrett, Bernice (Sam) Young, Paulette (James) Bradley and Jazzaree (Carlise) Ray, all of Williston; five sisters; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Frank D. Hallman
Franklin D. Hallman, 78, of Springfield, died April 30, 2011.
Funeral service was held today, May 4 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Metts officiating. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hallman was born in Orangeburg County. He was the son of the late Harry Lee and Lila Barr Hallman. He served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army and retired having worked for 38 years at the Milliken Company in Barnwell. He was a member for more than 50 years at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, served as a deacon, in the Men’s Ministry and was a member of the senior Sunday school class. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jack W. Steele; sister and brother-in-law, Myra Jean and John Hutto; brother, Harry Hallman; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Arnold and Johnny Ulmer and a nice, Shannon Ulmer.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Jean Arnold Hallman of the home; three daughters, Cynthia (Billy) Huff of Branchville, Robin Steele of Orangeburg and Phyllis (Mark) Chavis of Reevesville; one brother, Horace (Minnie) Hallman of Barnwell; sisters-in-law, Jane Hallman of Springfield, Peggy Arnold and Betty Ulmer and Eddie and Joe Gue and two grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews.
