Deacon Jack "Buck" Mitchell Jr., 87, of the Jonesville community, Yemassee, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Timothy James Pierson
Timothy James Pierson, 40, of Port Royal, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at a residence on Lady's Island.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Sands, Port Royal.
Mr. Pierson was born Feb. 2, 1961, in McPherson, Kan., a son of Weir Pierson and Ima Loretta Hardgrave Pierson. A 17-year resident of Beaufort County, he was self employed as a stained glass artist.
Survivors include his parents of McPherson, Kan.; four sisters, Judy Talbott of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., Merrily Pierson of Santa Fe, N.M.; Susan Redstone of McPherson, Kan., and Kristi Whorton of Little River, Kan.; and a brother, Tad Pierson of Memphis, Tenn.

Justyce Leona Wright of St. Helena Island, infant daughter of LaToya Shaunte' Brown and Justin Leon Wright, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be at noon Tuesday at Riverside cemetery, St. Helena Island.
Survivors include her parents; her paternal grandmother, Clyde Esther Wright; her paternal grandfather, John Henry Wright Sr.; her maternal Berdena B. Wilson-Brown of St. Helena; her maternal grandfather, Anthony Brown Sr. of Charlotte; and her great-grandparents, David Wilson and Olive Wilson Sr. of St. Helena Island.

RIDGELAND -- Dorothy Gertrude "Trudy" Brabham Dean, 77, of Ridgeland, wife of Vincent Foreman Dean died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sauls Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m Monday in Coosawhatchie Baptist Church with burial in Great Swamp cemetery, Ridgeland.
Ms. Brabham was born May 11, 1924, in Bamberg, a daughter of Anna Sanders Brabham and Grady Brabham. She was a member of Coosawhatchie Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Ridgeland; two daughters, Dot Freeman of Hampton and Wanda Parnell of Tuscon, Ariz.; three sons, Richard V. Dean of Ridgeland, Bruce Dean of Sheldon and Randy Dean of Hillsborough, N.C.; a sister, Edna Woods of Ridgeland; a brother, Roy Brabham of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Patricia O'Boyle Kollar
Patricia O'Boyle Kollar, 75 of Beaufort, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Beaufort National cemetery.
Mrs. Kollar was born March 7, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended the Beauty College of Ohio, USC Beaufort and the Technical College of the Lowcountry. She was a retired Civil Service telephone operator and a member of the Association of Federal Government Employees. She worked at Publix as a pastry demonstrator.
Survivors include a daughter, Julia Kollar of Beaufort; three sons, Frank Kollar and Pastor Anthony Kollar of Beaufort and Mike Kollar of Charleston; a sister, Shirly Jonas of North Holmstead, Ohio; a brother, Buddy O'Boyle of Cleveland; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Violet Margaret Closz Krebs
Violet Margaret Closz Krebs, 102, of Beaufort, widow of George James Krebs, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at River Oaks Retirement Center.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday at the Baptist Church of Beaufort. Services will be 11 a.m. at the Baptist Church of Beaufort with burial in Elwood City cemetery, Elwood, Ind., on Wednesday.
Mrs. Krebs was born July 14, 1899, in Elwood, Ind., a daughter of Daniel and Alice Leister Closz.
At 65, she retired as a vice-president of First National Bank of Elwood. She was then employed at Leeson's Department Store for 20 years, retiring at 85. She moved to Beaufort in 1988.
She was a member of the Mabel Burns Sunday School Class and The Baptist Church of Beaufort where she was the oldest member of the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Jean Mahalak of Allen Park, Mich., and Shirley June Smith of Beaufort; a son, Darrell Max Smith of Beaufort; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

James "Marc" Cook, 31, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Gainesville, Ga.

Mr. Cook was born June 8, 1970, in Beaufort, a son of W.D. "Bill" Cook and Rose M. Gray Cook.
He attended Beaufort Christian School and graduated from Battery Creek High School in 1989.
Survivors include his parents of Beaufort; a daughter, Mary Lacy Cook of Beaufort; a stepson, Kevin Hartman of Beaufort; a brother, Benji Cook of Beaufort; and his maternal grandmother, Rosa Smith Gray of Beaufort.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Hugh Gray, and his paternal grandparents, William David Cook Sr., and Geneva Sauls Cook.

Charles L. "Lind" Brown, 74, of Beaufort, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in Bay View Nursing Center.
Services will be at noon on Monday at the Grace Chapel A.M.E Church with burial following in Citizens cemetery.
Wake services will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Marshel's Wright-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Brown was born June 2, 1927, in Beaufort, a son of Geneva Brown Graham.
He was a graduate of Robert Smalls High School and was the founder and organizer of the Brown Bombers baseball team of Beaufort. He was a former Commissioner for the South Carolina Baseball League Association, a member of the S.J. Bampfield Elk Lodge No. 584 of Beaufort and a longtime member of the Grace Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served as a trustee, Sexton and a member of the choir. He owned and operated a tailor shop.
Survivors include an aunt, Mary Hamilton Brown of Beaufort; his caretaker, Mary Peeler of Beaufort; two niece LaSandra G. Young of Burton and Jennie Robinson of Jackonsville Fla.
Annie Mitchell Bryan
Annie Mitchell Bryan 80, of St. Helena Island died Sunday Nov. 18, 2001, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Chisholm Galloway Home for Funerals.
Services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bryan was born Nov. 29, 1920, in St. Paul, a daughter of Sarah Keyes Mitchell. She was educated in Clarendon County Public schools. In 1941 she married
William Bryan and moved to St. Helena Island.
She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was employed at Bay View Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Bryan; a daughter, Margaret Bryan and mother, Sara Mitchell.
Survivors include six daughters, Lena Perry, Eleanor Bryan, Ernestine Bryan, Sandra Pope and Cynthia Bryan of St. Helena Island and Sharon Gardner of Warsaw Island; five sons, Edward Lee Bryan, Charles Bryan, Albon Bryan, William Bryan and Alonzo Bryan of St. Helena; two sisters Wilhemina Robinson of Santee, Johnnie Mae Gaymon of Summerton; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
