Westminster – Vera Cheryl Lee, 45 of 202 Oak Street died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at her home.

born in Oconee County on December 20, 1961 she was the former site manager for the Counsel on Aging. Ms. Lee was a member of Damascus Baptist Church.

Surviving are fiancé Gordon Whitten, brothers Tony Lee of Clarksville, GA, and Jack Lee of Pickens, sisters Syble Goss and Linda Smith both of Westminster, Sally Sinacori of Walhalla and Mary Mimms of Columbia, and 44 nieces and nephews.

Her parents Ronnie Brown and Mary Virginia Whitman Lee and brothers Kenneth, Curtis, Mitchell and Ralph Lee precede her in death.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. The family is at the residence. Flowers are accepted.

CHARLIE JENKINS

Westminster – Charles “Charlie” Stoddard Jenkins, 75 of 115 Towe Rd., died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

born in Moonville, SC on July 17, 1931 he was the owner and operator of Oconee Livestock Auctions. He was an auctioneer and blacksmith and had shod horses for over 37 years. He also enjoyed farming. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include sons Leslie Vernon Jenkins and wife Vickie of Belton, Robert Scott Jenkins and wife Shawn of Westminster, brother Palmer Jenkins and wife Elaine of Wichita Falls, TX and sisters Catheryn Scott of Piedmont, Ruby Flemming of Columbia, Virginia Skiados of Washington, DC, Nora Ellen Stewart of Pelzer, Harriett Henchock and husband John of Simpsonville, Thalia Jo Cohen and husband Alan of Apex, NC, Barbara Fennell and husband Joe of Florence, Sara Bolt of Hickory Tavern, five grandchildren Tara, Terry, Eddie, Jason and Shannon Jenkins and two great grandchildren David and Justin Jenkins.

His parents Charlie A. and Grace Garrett Jenkins, sons Charles Linden, Eddie and Wayne Jenkins and brother John Jenkins precedes him in death.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, March 26, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 3-5 pm, Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or memorials to The Boys Camp, 111 E. Windsor St., Westminster, SC 29693 may be made in Charlie’s memory. The family is at the residence.

GEORGE JOHNSON

Easley – George Marvin Johnson, 70 of 918 Crestview Dr. formerly of Return Church area, died Monday, March 19, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

born in Oconee County on September 4, 1936 to the late Charles Eugene and Minnie Orr Johnson, he was retired from a variety of occupations and most enjoyed selling produce. His hobbies included golf and fishing during retirement. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include sons Terry Johnson and wife Joy of Spartanburg and Gary Johnson of Easley, brothers Ray Johnson of Seneca and Manley Johnson of Summerville, one granddaughter, Torey Johnson of Spartanburg.

In addition to his parents, brothers Albert, Glenn and Eugene Johnson and sisters Lila Mae Bramlett, Ruth Bibbs and Bernice Sosebee precede him in death.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, March 22, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will follow in Return Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM, Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Home Program, National Processing Center, PO Box 1130, Glen Allen, VA 22038-1130.

WESTMINSTER - Ella Della Hart, 101, of 3275 Toccoa Hwy., Westminster, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 in Oconee Memorial Hospital.

born in Williamsburg County, SC, December 13, 1905 to the late Joseph Limuel & Martha Alice Poston Tilton; she was the widow of Thomas Jerry Hart. Mrs. Hart was a bag maker with Union Bag Company, Savannah, Ga. and a member of the N.T. Holiness Church.

Survivors: Sons – Joe Hart of California and Johnny Hart of Lavonia, Ga.

Daughters: Vera Wilbanks of Westminster and Jewell Capps of Seneca.

30 Grandchildren and 30 Great-Grandchildren

Funeral Services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel, Westminster with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, on Monday, March 19th at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted. The family is at the home of Vera Wilbanks, 3275 Toccoa Hwy, . Westminster.

Mtn. Rest - Lee Barry Keener, 39 of 175 Merill Dr., died February 25, 2007 at his home.

born in Oconee County on May 22, 1967 to Verlin Keener and the late Flossie Lillie Moore Keener, he was of the Baptist faith. Lee graduated from West Oak High School in 1985.

In addition to his father, Verlin of Rabun Gap, GA, his wife Treesa Sanford Keener of Westminster, son Barry James Keener of Blue Ridge, GA, daughters Amanda Leigh “Clair” Keener and Kristina “Soffee” Keener both of Walterboro, SC, brother Sheldon Keener of Pelzer, sister Marilyn Cooper and husband Tim of Westminster, uncle Merrill Moore of Brevard, NC and aunt Bertie Brewster of Anderson, 12 nieces and 1 nephew survive him.

In addition to his mother, two sons Daniel Lee and Cody Michael Keener, brother Robert E. Moore, paternal grandparents James and Beatrice Keener, maternal grandfather Charles Peter Moore and maternal grandmother Josie Moore Wilson, and one uncle Virgil Moore precede him in death.

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Thursday, March 8, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will be follow in Long Creek Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted. The family is at the home of his sister Marilyn Cooper, 340 Conard Drive, Westminster.

Derek Adam Pressley

Westminster – Derek was born on November 20, 1989, he died February 26, 2007 at home surrounded by those who loved him so much. Derek was a special child who spent every day of his young life wrapped in the love of his family. He lived a life of such innocence, courage and purpose. Derek touched many lives; those that knew him fell in love with him and his big smile.

Derek is survived by his parents, Robert and Janet Pressley; and by his sister, Hannah of the home; Grandparents are Ed and Jo Miller of Westminster and Rev. Reginald and Claudia Pressley of Toccoa, GA and Great Grandmother Velma Miller also of Westminster.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 from 6-8 PM at the Sandifer Funeral Home, 512 E. Main St., Westminster, SC 29693. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 2 PM at Westminster Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Hwy 11, Westminster.

The family is at the residence. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to The Tribble Center, c/o Respite Care, 116 South Cove Rd., Seneca, SC 29672.

Westminster – Bobby Franklin Carroll, 56 of 115 Jack St. died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

born in Oconee County on February 23, 1951 he had been a textile worker.

Surviving are stepson Gary Lee Wyman II of Westminster, stepdaughters Darlene Morrissette of Crest Hill, IL and Carolyn Watkins of Westminster, brothers Ray Carroll of Westminster and Julius Carroll of Danville, VA, sisters Virginia Payne and Mary Jane Poole and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Carolyn “Jo Ann” Burton Carroll, his parents Jess Ramey and Sleetie Coal Sanford Carroll Cobb, brothers Melvin, Harold, Kenneth and Willie Sam “Bill” Carroll and sister Pansy Carroll precede him in death.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Friday, March 2, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will follow in Welcome Baptist Church cemetery.

Marcia Lee Grozinger

Walhalla – Marcia Lee Grozinger, 55 of 478 Coffee Rd passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007at Mountain View Rest Home in Clayton, GA.

born on May 8, 1951 in Kansas City, KS, she was the daughter of Margie Cox of Walhalla and the late Authur Dake. She was employed with the Department of Social Services of Anderson, SC.

Surviving is her husband Nick Grozinger of Kansas City, MO, a daughter Nicole Grozinger of Walhalla, SC and a son, Michael Grozinger of Westminster, SC. She has one grandson, Austin Tyler Dickerson of Walhalla, SC.

Memorial services for Marcia will be announced at a later date. Memorials in her memory may be made in care of Sandifer Funeral Home, PO Box 69, Westminster, SC 29693.

Seneca- Rosemary B. Cox 64, formerly of 106 Cardinal Dr., died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at An Med Medical Center.

born in Brooklyn NY on November 1, 1942, she retired from Dresner Bank in NY. Miss. Cox was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Seneca.

Sister Joan Cox of Seneca survives Ms. Cox

Her parents Robert J and Elizabeth McNerney Cox precede Ms. Cox.

Memorial services will be Saturday, February 24, 2006 at the St. Paul The Apostle Church at 10 AM. Visitation will be 9 to 10 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

Roger Towe

Seneca – Roger William Towe, 45 of 114 Slater Dr. died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca.

born in Oconee County on June 15, 1961 to John William and Mildred Irene “Bill” Nicholson Towe of Seneca, he attended Foothills Community Church and was a tractor-trailer operator, a loom fixer with J.P. Stevens Company, a hardwood floor specialist and mechanic.

In addition to his parents he is survived by wife Sandra “Sandy” Moore Towe, companion Leah Elizabeth Webb, daughters Samantha and Sydney Towe of the home, stepsons James and Luke Moore and Nathan Webb, stepdaughters Melanie Moore, Jennifer Gosnell, Hazel McCarter and Edith Marie Webb, brothers Leroy, Alan and Timmy Towe all of Seneca and sister Pamela McCall also of Seneca and six step grandchildren.

His son, Adam Joshua Towe precedes him in death.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will follow at Double Springs Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM, Friday, February 2, 2007 at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted. The family is at the home of his parents John and Mildred Towe, 118 Slater Dr., Seneca.

Doug McGuffin

Westminster – Douglas “Doug” Brinnon McGuffin, 67 of 203 Lakeside Dr. died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at his residence.

born in Oconee County on January 5, 1940, he had worked at Beacon Mfg., where he was a machine operator. He was a member of the VFW Walhalla Post and a veteran of the US Army Naval Air.

Survivors include wife Gloria Yvette Martinez McGuffin of the home, sons Donovan McGuffin and wife April and Duane McGuffin and wife Christy all of Westminster and Douglas Swanson of Georgia, daughter Linette Davis also of Georgia and six grandchildren, Ashley, Caitlyn, Avery and Addison McGuffin, Brett Davis and Savannah Leigh Swanson.

His parents Horace “Pete” and Edna King McGuffin precede him in death.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday January 31, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will follow at First Baptist Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the funeral home. The family is at the home. Flowers are accepted.

Clarkesville, GA – Kathy Diane Pearson Pruitt, 49 of 255 Spring Bank Dr., passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 at her residence.

born in Oconee County, SC on April 28, 1957 to the late William Volley and Lucille Elliott Pearson, Ms. Pruitt attended Daytona Beach Community College where she obtained her nursing degree. She was employed by Gainesville Surgery Center in Gainesville, GA as a registered nurse.

Surviving is fiancé Robert W. Darby of the home, son Darrell R. Smith of Los Angeles, CA, brothers Roger, Earl and Donnie Pearson all of Westminster and Richard Pearson of Salem, sisters Patsy Couch of Walhalla and Bernice Brock of Statham, GA.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster, SC.
