ST. STEPHEN - Charles H. Barrs, 69, a former commercial fisherman, died Saturday at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Ridge Baptist Church cemetery in Summerville. Burial will be directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home of Moncks Corner.
Mr. Barrs was born in Gaston, a son of Darlin T. Barrs and Isabelle Goodwin Barrs. He was an Army veteran.
Surviving is a sister, Minnie Burbage of Summerville.

RICHARD L. GREEN
Richard Lee Green, 54, of Charleston, a self-employed computer programmer, died Tuesday in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in James A. McAlister Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.
Mr. Green was born in Providence, R.I., a son of Heyward L. Green and Betty McGuirk Green. He served in the Army. He was active in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Surviving are his mother of Charleston; a brother, Bill Green of Myrtle Beach; five sisters, Claire G. Smith, Mary G. Laird, Pat Green, Arrie Green and Sharon G. Hutchinson, all of Charleston.

MOUNT PLEASANT - William George Snyder, 60, a sales executive with Westvaco, died Monday in a Charleston hospital. A memorial service will be held in New Jersey at a later date, according to Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Mr. Snyder was born in Philadelphia, a son of LeRoy C. Snyder and Marion Marcella Conner Snyder. He was an Army veteran and a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Sirulnik Snyder; two sons, William G. Snyder Jr. of Chicago and Lawrence T. Snyder of Jackson, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Stephanie R. Abeles of Lawrenceville, N.J.; and a brother, Richard Snyder of Gaithersburg, Md.

ST. GEORGE - Oribelle Stevens Young, 74, died Saturday in a Walterboro hospital. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Matthews Baptist Church in Reevesville. Burial, directed by Brown and Son Funeral Home, will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Young was born in Dorchester County, a daughter of Ernest Stevens and Annie Bradley Stevens. She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church and was the widow of T.J. Young.

James A. Dougherty, 61, of Charleston, a retired printer's assistant with Peter F. Mallon Printing Co. of Long Island, N.Y., died Monday in a local hospital. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mr. Dougherty was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of Charles F. Dougherty and Elizabeth V. Provan Dougherty. He was a graduate of St. John's University. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rev. Peter N. Lynch Council and Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
Surviving are his mother of Charleston; and two brothers, Denis Dougherty of Schenectady, N.Y., and William J. Dougherty of Charleston.

Mr. Newton was born in Charleston County, a son of Frank Newton and Julia Athalie Chaplin Newton. He was a graduate of St. Paul's High School on Yonges Island. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He was an active member and former deacon of Adams Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtis Godley Newton; a son, Edward K. Newton of Yonges Island; a daughter, Dottie N. Burbage of Goose Creek; three brothers, Fred Newton of Summerville, the Rev. Kenneth Newton of Greer and the Rev. Douglas Newton of Conway; three sisters, Beatrice Gukeisen of Winchester, Ky., Barbara Thomas of Woodbridge, Va., and Athalie Lacey of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

Heber Jedidiah Evans, 75, of North Charleston, president of Evans Inc., died Monday in a Florida hospital. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Evans was born in Andrews, a son of Robert L. Evans and Annie O. Kellahan Evans. He was the developer of Evanston Shopping Plaza, Yeamans Hall Shopping Plaza and Plantation Shopping Center and was the primary developer of several North Charleston neighborhoods. He was named an honorary deputy constable and Homebuilder of the Year. He was a member of the Holy Melchizadek Priesthood and was a first counselor with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City. He was Mormon.
Surviving are a son, Jedi Evans Jr. of Goose Creek; four daughters, Gale E. Onorato of Mexico Beach, Fla., Renee Burbage of Goose Creek and Cynthia Evans and Sylvia Evans, both of Driftwood, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
