COTTAGEVILLE - Thomas Ernest "Pete" Hart, 70, died Wednesday in a Walterboro hospital. The funeral and burial will be private, according to Tri-County Cremation Center in Summerville.
Mr. Hart was born in Greer, a son of Ernest L. Hart and Margaret Bradshaw Hart. He attended Greer schools. He was Baptist. He was the widower of Willie Duck Hart.
Surviving is a sister, Ruby Hart Richardson of Cottageville.

VIRGINIA W. BASS
MARION - Virginia Wauchope Bass, 93, an author, died Tuesday in a Bryan, Texas, nursing home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Neck cemetery in Brittons Neck. Burial will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bass was born in Columbia, a daughter of George A. Wauchope and Elizabeth Bostedo Wauchope. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was the widow of Dr. Robert D. Bass.
Surviving are two sons, George F. Bass of College Station, Texas, and Robert W. Bass of Lexington Park, Md.; six grandchildren; and two grandchildren.

BETTY J. HARRIS
WALTERBORO - Betty Jean Harris, 76, died Wednesday in a Charleston hospital. The funeral will be held in Earlville, Ill., according to Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harris was born in Gobey, Tenn., a daughter of Walter McKee and Minnie Stewart McKee. She was Baptist and the widow of John W. Harris.
Surviving are seven sons, James Harris of Naubinway, Mich., John W. Harris Jr. and Dana M. Harris, both of Clinton, Ind., Walter R. Harris of Wedron, Ill., and James E. McKee, Danny Clowers and Kenneth Clowers, all of Harding, Ill.; four daughters, Barbara Robbins of Ottawa, Ill., Vickey Whithey of Clinton, Ind., Thelma Young of Marseilles, Ill., and Dottie Pettenger of Walterboro; a brother, James McKee of Wedron; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

EHRHARDT - Guy M. Carter, 86, a retired employee with Georgia Power Co. in Atlanta, died Thursday in an Orangeburg hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cooner Funeral Home in Bamberg. Burial will be in Bethany cemetery near Ehrhardt.
Mr. Carter was born in Colleton County, a son of Jacob H. Carter and Ida Rhoad Carter. He was Methodist. He was the widower of Opal Stone Carter.
Surviving are a son, Phillip R. Carter of Atlanta; a sister, Wilhelmina Carter of Ehrhardt; and two grandchildren.

JOHNSONVILLE - William Christopher Gaster, 31, a millwright, died Tuesday in Waynesville, N.C. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Garden of Devotion cemetery. Burial will be directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway.
Mr. Gaster was born in Florence, a son of Wilson B. Gaster and Lois Keefe Gaster. He attended Florence County schools.
Surviving are his parents of Johnsonville; a daughter, Amanda Jean Wells of North Carolina; and two brothers, Frank M. Gaster of Ridgeville and Ronnie W. Gaster of Johnsonville.

BAMBERG - Mary Etta Sanders, 82, a retired spooler, died Wednesday in an Orangeburg hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Cooner Funeral Home. Burial will be in South End cemetery.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Bamberg, a daughter of Henry W. Black and Minnie Jeffcoat Black. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Harry Sanders.
Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Champy of Williston; a son, Billy Sanders of Cope; a sister, Vergie Corbin of Bamberg; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Davis was born in Neeses, a son of Andrew L. Davis and Beulah Mae Hughes Davis. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Leta Binnicker Davis.
Surviving are two sisters, Lois Platt and Carolyn Potter, both of Orangeburg; and three brothers, E.L. Davis of Orangeburg, Thurman J. Davis of Springfield and Heyward Davis of Cope.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Lewis Robinson James, 78, a retired farmer and employee with Baxter Travenol Laboratories, died Tuesday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Church of God and True Holiness in Kingstree, S.C. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home of Kingstree, will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Mr. James was born in Williamsburg County, S.C., a son of Mack James and Louise Murphy James. He attended Williamsburg County schools. He was a member of Church of God and True Holiness.
Surviving are his wife, Lannie Murphy James; six sons, Fred R. James of Williamsport, Pa., Clyde E. James, Chancey L. James and Eugene James, all of Philadelphia, and Theron James and Riley R. James, both of Rochester; two daughters, Catherine Hollaman of Philadelphia and Alma Gause of Rochester; and two brothers, the Rev. Simon James of Kingstree and Willie James of Atlanta.

SHELDON - Joseph Lee Robinson Jr., 81, a retired employee of Western Union Telegraph in New York, died Monday in a local nursing home. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Huspah Baptist Church in Gardens Corner. Burial, directed by Marshel's Wright-Donaldson Funeral Home, will be in the church cemetery. A wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. today in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Robinson was born in Sheldon, a son of Joseph Robinson and Lucretia Major Robinson. He was first married to the late Mary Green Robinson.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Davis Robinson; three sons, Joe N. Jenkins of New Jersey, Harold Robinson of Washington, D.C., and Joseph Robinson III of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Loretta Robinson and Louise Robinson, both of New York City, and Mary Ann Robinson of Lithonia, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Marie Ray of Ithaca, N.Y.; a sister, Pearline Wilkinson of Cape Coral, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Hofmann was born in Richmond, Va., a daughter of George W. Jones and Mary C. Downs Jones. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving are her husband, Phillip Hofmann; a daughter, Lacey S. Hofmann of Longwood; a son, Christian S. Hofmann of Longwood; and a sister, Jacqueline Hunter of Charlotte.

Mrs. Feagin was born in Walterboro, a daughter of Albert Branham and Geneva Bullard Branham. She was a member of Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy and was the widow of Bennie R. Feagin.
Surviving are a son, Bennie R. Feagin Jr. of Sumter; a sister, Sue Goins of Greeleyville; four brothers, Jerry Branham, Mike Branham and Jeff Branham, all of Greeleyville, and Tommy Branham of Williston; and six grandchildren.
