COTTAGEVILLE - Thomas Ernest "Pete" Hart, 70, died Wednesday in a Walterboro hospital. The funeral and burial will be private, according to Tri-County Cremation Center in Summerville.
Mr. Hart was born in Greer, a son of Ernest L. Hart and Margaret Bradshaw Hart. He attended Greer schools. He was Baptist. He was the widower of Willie Duck Hart.
Surviving is a sister, Ruby Hart Richardson of Cottageville.

MARION - Virginia Wauchope Bass, 93, an author, died Tuesday in a Bryan, Texas, nursing home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Neck cemetery in Brittons Neck. Burial will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bass was born in Columbia, a daughter of George A. Wauchope and Elizabeth Bostedo Wauchope. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was the widow of Dr. Robert D. Bass.
Surviving are two sons, George F. Bass of College Station, Texas, and Robert W. Bass of Lexington Park, Md.; six grandchildren; and two grandchildren.
