BROCKINTON, Alta
Alta Maree Massey Brockinton, 79, the wife of Charleston Attorney, D.A. Brockinton, Jr., died on Saturday, December 8th, in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on August 6, 1922 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Dr. David Lawson Massey and Mrs. Marie Bates Massey of Birmingham, Alabama. She was educated in the public and private schools of Birmingham. She attended Fairmont Jr. College in Washington, DC and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. On May 5, 1945 she married
D.A. Brockinton, Jr., Lieutenant, USNR of Charleston, SC in Birmingham, Alabama.
Since W.W.II she has resided in Charleston, SC. She was a member of the Rebecca Motte Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ladies Benevolent Society. She was a charter member of the Ivy Garden Club and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Charleston and a member of the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Country Club of Charleston and the Ladies Golf Association. She was an avid golfer and participated in the their tournaments. She was a Rotary Ann of the Charleston Rotary Club and regularly participated in its charitable endeavors and its community projects.
She was a talented dancer and participated in the Junior League of Charleston Follies. She starred in the role of the popular flamboyant Latin dancer/songstress "Mama Inez" in the 1950's Follies presentation of the popular and rollicking Broadway Musical "Rollin' in Rio."
Mrs. Brockinton is survived by her husband of Charleston, two daughters: Alta Maree Brockinton of New York, NY and Anne Rutledge Brockinton of Lake Tahoe, Nevada; one brother: Dr. David Lawson Massey, Jr. and his wife Ophelia Massey of Birmingham, AL; one granddaughter: Alta Maree Hagan of New York, N. Y. and numerous nieces of Alabama and nephews of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by her brother the late George Bates Massey of Birmingham, Alabama.
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Brockinton, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter in the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street at Three o'clock, Wednesday, December 12, 2001. A private burial will be held in Greenhill section in Magnolia cemetery. Friends are invited to a reception celebrating her life at her home Wednesday December 12th at 5:30 PM.

Dr. Saleem N. Saleeby Jr. 67, died Sunday, December 9, 2001, at his residence.
He was born March 20, 1934, in Dillon, SC a son of Essie Moody Saleeby and the late S.N. Saleeby, Sr.
Dr. Saleeby was a graduate of the Citadel and the University of Virginia school of Medicine and Dentistry. He was a member of American Dental Association, Horry County Dental Society, First Presbyterian Church for 27 years, former member of the Civitans Club, a volunteer with S.O.S., and served in the United States Air Force as a Captain.
Survivors include his wife, Christine A. Jetmar-Saleeby of the home, his mother, of North Myrtle Beach, a son, Dale Saleeby of Dallas, TX, four step-children, Carlton Hamilton of Monroe, NC, Thomas Hamilton of Myrtle Beach, James Jetmar of Ferrun, VA, Teresa Jetmar of West Orange, NJ, a brother, Charles W. Saleeby of Hendersonville, NC, a sister, Barbara Maples of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Charlotte, NC, and nine grandchildren.

Leland was a former resident of Isle of Palms, S.C. He retired from Trailways Bus Company in 1963 then joining the family business in S.C. He was devoted to his family and a member of Englewood Methodist Church. Mr. W. Mike DeLoach, 86, of 704 Nix Street in Hampton, died late Friday night at his residence after an extended illness.Mr. DeLoach was born in Hampton County, January 17, 1915, a son of the late Oneal and Bell Brunson DeLoach. He had retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Hampton and was a member of the Staffords Baptist Church.
