Aileen Simpson Roberts, 98, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, November 1, 2001 in a local nursing home. The relatives and friends of Aileen Simpson Roberts are invited to attend her memorial service Saturday, November 3, 2001 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL at 11:30 o'clock.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 8, 1902, the daughter of Herbert G. and Edna Morris. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of Cecil A. Simpson and Nathan Roberts.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Doris Simpson; Thomas and Donna Simpson; her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Frank Skestone, all of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren and their spouses, Blaise and Tom Dugan, Dr. Tom and Beverly Simpson, Diane and Mark Patterson, Duane and Donna Simpson, as well as her grandchildren Pamela Gomez, Randall Simpson, and Lauren Simpson, and six great-grandchildren.

MANNING - Eunice Stevens Thames, 89, widow of Murray S. Thames, died Saturday at her daughter's home in Manning.born March 27, 1912, in Lake Waccamaw, NC, she was a daughter of the late James and Emma Martin Stevens. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Davis Station.Surviving are a son, James and daughter-in-law Carolyn Thames of Manning; a daughter, Frances and son-in-law J.D. Jones of Manning; a brother, Jim Stevens of Charleston; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Rev. Ashley Brunson will officiate. Burial will follow in Wilson Union United Methodist Church cemetery. Margaret Cain Mims, 81, wife of Dr. Harry W. Mims of Charleston, died at her home on Saturday morning, November 3, 2001. She attended Mary Baldwin College and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was a member of the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Margaret Mims Branan and Harriet Mims Smith, both of Charleston; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

William R. "Capt. Billy" McPherson, 72, of Charleston, passed away Friday, November 2, at a local nursing home. born in Charleston to the late William R. and Nettie Brownlee McPherson, Sr. His beloved wife of 42 years, Helen Adams McPherson predeceased him in 1991. He was a 1947 graduate of Bishop England High School and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mr. McPherson was retired after 43 years from Southeastern Shipping Company as a Stevedore. After retirement Mr. McPherson volunteered with the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the Stevedore Association. He was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His five sons, Gerald G. McPherson of Bonneau Beach, S.C., William R. McPherson, II, Marty McPherson, Gary C. McPherson, and Joseph E. McPherson, Sr., all of Charleston, a daughter, Gail E. Koch of Charleston, two brothers, Charles and John McPherson both of Charleston, ten grandchildren, Gerald McPherson, Jr., Michael McPherson, Michelle McPherson, David McPherson, Stephanie McPherson, Haley McPherson, Zachary McPherson, Olivia McPherson, Caitlin McPherson, and Joseph McPherson, Jr., all survive Mr. McPherson.
