THOMPSON, SR., Gerald
BRANCHVILLE - Mr. Gerald A. Thompson, Sr., born January 26, 1928, in Branchville, died Monday, November 12, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, at the Prospect Southern Methodist Church in Branchville with the Rev. Bobby Ethridge, Minister Jerry C. Thompson, and Rev. Charles B. Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Thompsoncemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born in Branchville, a son of the late Richard Jesse and Mamie Crook Thompson.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Villa D. Thompson of the home, one son, G. Atmar Thompson, Jr., and wife Tracy of Chattanooga, Tenn., two daughters, Cindy T. Horton, and husband Bob of Orangeburg, Valerie T. Funchess and husband Don of Rowesville, two brothers, R. Ernest Thompson and Heyward Thompson, both of Branchville, two sisters, Emma Mae Murray of Grover, and Gaynell Cannon of Columbia, one foster sister, Lula Mildred Baker of Harleyville, four grandchildren, Laura Maynor, Casie Horton, Alex Funchess, and Jessie Funchess, and a number of nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by three brothers, Robert T. Thompson, Loyd M. Thompson, and Bert A. Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Branchville High School. He served with the U.S. Army in Korean Conflict. He retired as a Rural Mail Carrier and a farmer as well as retiring with 20 years of service as an Orangeburg County Magistrate. He was a member of the Prospect Southern Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Chairman of the Board of Stewards, and Chairman of the Finance Committee, the Eastern Carolina Baseball League, the School District #8 Board of Trustees, the Branchville Masonic Lodge #110, where he was Past Master, the Orangeburg Scottish Rite, Omar Shrine Temple of Charleston, the Cattle Creek Campground Board of Trustees, and the Orangeburg B.P.O.E.
Pallbearers are Clyde McAlhany, Neal Ott, Bob Varn, Sammie Murray, Ernie Kirven, and Ethan Beeks.

KIMBALL, Dale
Dale Albert Kimball, 65, of Sullivan's Island, died Friday, November 9, at his residence. Mr. Kimball was born December 9, 1935, in Grand Island, Neb., to Wayne Kimball and Lula Beyersdorf Kimball. He attended schools in Nebraska. Mr. Kimball was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Kimball was employed as Public Safety Officer for Patriots Point. He was retired from the Isle of Palms Police Department and from AT&T; as a warehouse manager. He was a Catholic and a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church.
Mr. Kimball was predeceased by his wife, Carole Ann Austin Kimball, and a brother, Kenneth Kimball. He is survived by a sister, Betty Lohmann of Kearney, Neb., a sister-in-law, Sharon M. Heneghan of DesPlaines, Ill., a niece, Maureen Ann Heneghan of DesPlaines, Ill., a nephew, Michael P. Heneghan of Chicago, Ill., and several other nieces and nephews, and very close friends, David and Cathy Fox, among many others.
