Mr. Thomas Hutson Morillo, Sr., died Saturday, November 10, 2001, in Michigan, in a Grand Rapids, Mich., nursing home at the age of 73. He was born March 25, 1928, in Charleston, S.C., to Jesse and Edna (Duff) Morillo. He served overseas as a Navigator in the Merchant Marines, active duty, during WWII, training in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a businessman in Detroit's steel industry.
He deeply loved his family. He was loved by his family. He was our Pop Pop and our Hero. He leaves behind Ann Baughman Morillo Patrick, his siblings, Edna Morillo Albiniak, William Morillo of Charleston, S.C., and Charles Russell Morell of South Hampton, N.Y.; children, Thomas Hutson Morillo, Jr., and Clifton Ralph Morillo, of Wayne, Mich., Bernadette Morillo Thomas, of San Diego, and Mary Morillo Lapetz of Northville, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Ryan Thomas Morillo of Texas, Miranda Morillo Miller, Kimberley Ann and Kasey Morillo of San Diego, Sarah Cole, Jacqueline, Jordan Michelle and Johnna Lapetz of Northville, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Kashia and Brandon Miller, Alex Para, and Christina Velasco, of San Diego, and Granddog Duke.
Full military honors burial at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans cemetery on Thursday, November 15, 2001. Memorials may be made to your local Toys for Tots or Disabled American Veterans organization.
SELLERS, Wade
Wade Hampton "Hamp" Sellers, of Bamberg, S.C., husband of Dorothy Darnell Sellers, died November 13, 2001, at a Bamberg hospital.
Mr. Sellers was born in Bamberg County, April 8, 1925, the son of the late Jacob W. Sellers and the late Mae Gillam Sellers. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg. He was a retired from the Board of Public Gas Department with 25 years of service. "Hamp" was in WWII in the Normandy Invasion with the U.S. Army and was in the Northern France and Rhineland Campaigns. He served three years total service during WWII and was honorably discharged.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 16, 2001, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of COONER FUNERAL HOME, Bamberg, S.C. Interment in Bamberg County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Bamberg, S.C. Rev. Donnie Delk and Rev. David Pohto will officiate.
Survivors include, his wife, Dorothy Darnell Sellers; one daughter and sons-in-law, Doris and Butch Heffelinger of Bamberg, S.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debbie Sellers of Bunnell, Fla.; one brother, Jack Sellers of Olar, S.C.; one sister, Betty S. Barfield of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren, Blaine Heffelfinger of Branchville, S.C., Michelle Heffelfinger Moore of Bamberg, S.C., Missie Heffelfinger Kittrell of Cope, S.C., Shana Lynn Tyner of Delion, Fla., Richard Wade Sellers of Bunnell, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Jordon and Riggs of Branchville, S.C., Jessica and Justin Moore of Bamberg, S.C., a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday, November 15, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Cooner Funeral Home.
SPELLS, Flora
The relatives and friends of Mrs. Flora Spells and those of her son, Mr. Dannie West, those of her brothers, Mr. Lamuel Ancrum (Maggie) and Mr. Ezekiel Ancrum (Dorothy), grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins are invited to attend her home-going service on Friday, November 16, 2001, 1:30 p.m. at Canaan United Methodist Church, Ridgeville, Rev. J.C. Lane, Pastor. Interment, Ancrum cemetery, Ridgeville. Arrangements have been made by AIKEN-CAPERS FUNERAL HOME.
CANNON, Oscar
ANDREWS - Oscar Cannon, 89, of the Warsaw community, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at a Georgetown hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2001, at the Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial directed by the Andrews Chapel of MCKENZIE FUNERAL HOME will follow in the Andrews Memorial cemetery.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday evening, November 15, 2001, at the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Mr. Cannon was born December 13, 1911, in Williamsburg County, a son of Ellie Cannon and Ella Johnson Cannon. He was educated in Williamsburg County; was the owner of Cannon Farm; and attended the Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Pearl Morris Cannon, and a step-son, Clifton Elliott.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Thelma E. Cannon of Andrews, are, one son, Jack W. Cannon of Andrews; one daughter, Iva C. Coker of Andrews; one step-son, Henry Elliott of Andrews; three step-daughters, Odessa Bourne and Mildred Smith, both of Andrews; Audrey Shoptaw of Georgetown; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church, 116 Cannon Farm Road, Andrews, S.C. 29440.
PRIESTER, Horace
FAIRFAX - Mr. Horace R. Priester, husband of the late Pearl H. Priester, died Tuesday evening at the Allendale County Hospital. He was 96.
Mr. Priester was born May 3, 1905 in Old Barnwell County. He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the Bellinger Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairfax.
Surviving are one son, Richard Priester and his wife Carol Priester of Savannah, Ga.; one daughter, Carolyn Jones and her husband Joe Jones of Lexington, Ky. There are 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Bellinger Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairfax, with burial following at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Abby East cemetery in Savannah, Ga. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. SMITH-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
MARANVILLE, JR., Jim
Entered into eternal rest on November 12, 2001, James Joseph Maranville, Jr. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in St. Marks United Methodist Church, Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2001 at 2 o'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Friday evening from six until eight o'clock.
Mr. Maranville, Jr., the son of James J. Maranville, Sr. and Juanita Newell Maranville, was the owner of Blue Heron Construction Company. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He was a member of Wragg Barony Hunt Club.
Surviving are his fiance', Katie M. Comar of Charleston, SC; his mother, Juanita Maranville of Charleston, SC; his father and step mother, James J. Maranville, Sr. and Carolyn Taylor of Hamilton, VA.; two sisters, Susie M. Porter and husband Bob Schweikart of Charleston, SC and Jae and husband Larry Kniffin of Charleston, SC; two nieces, Susan Kniffin and Savannah Porter; two nephews, Chandler and Davis Kniffin.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Avenue, Charleston, SC 29407.
LOCKHART, Frances A.
Frances Ann Pallas Lockhart, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at her home following a cancer illness. She was born May 9, 1959 in Lewistown, Penn., the daughter of the late Robert L. Pallas and Nancy L. Schaeffer Pallas of Mt. Pleasant. She was a graduate of the Penns Valley Area High School in Centre County, PA. and attended Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
She has lived in Mt. Pleasant, SC for twenty years and she was employed by Memory Lane Gift Shop in Mt. Pleasant for thirteen years and more recently worked at Sullivan's Restaurant on Sullivan's Island.
In addition to her mother Nancy, with whom she made her home, she is survived by a great-aunt and uncle, and several cousins in Pennsylvania.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 o'clock Monday morning, November 19, 2001 at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd., Mt. Pleasant, directed by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL. Friends will be received at the family residence, 1212 Decoy Court, Mt. Pleasant this Sunday evening from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Frances A.P. Lockhart Fund, c/o Nancy L. Pallas, 1212 Decoy Court, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
MCDANIEL, Evelyn
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 13, 2001, Evelyn Edenfield McDaniel, widow of Harold L. McDaniel. Residence, Charleston, SC.
The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Friday afternoon, November 16, 2001 at 2 o'clock. Interment, Bethany cemetery. Friends may call at STUHR'S WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Swainsboro, Georgia, the daughter of Mallard Edenfield and Beulah Hale Edenfield. She was a retired supervisor with the American Tobacco Company. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Vance, SC. She was a member of Agape Sunday School Class. She was a Hospice volunteer for Orangeburg County. She was a past president of Eutaw Garden Club and was a Life Member of the SC Garden Club.
Surviving are one son, Harold G. Goodman, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA.; one daughter, Patricia Goodman Gehlken of Charleston, SC; one sister, Roberta Rush of Charleston, SC; two step-daughters, Deborah L. McDaniel of Charleston, SC and Gail M. Fortner of New Braunfels, Texas; two granddaughters, Sundee Goodman Stephenson and Mary April Goodman; one grandson, Dan L. Gehlken, II; one step-granddaughter, Amy L. Fortner; two step-grandsons, Lucky Owens and Larry Fortner; two great-grandsons, Robert Stephenson, III and Blake Stephenson; three step-great-granddaughters, Ashley Owens, Emma Fortner and Natalie Fortner; and several nieces and nephews.
HOLL, Marguerite
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. W. Howard Holl, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter Friday at 2 o'clock in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Interment, Magnolia cemetery.
